Video games industry is a weird industry, especially how people are getting hired… During the hiring process there are multiple leads and seniors are involved, lots of those leads love to hire someone unknown with less skill, but enough skill to do the job. Because if they hire someone who is a legend and is very skilled, they are risking losing that top position or will need to share the top with him and accept his ideas🤷🏼‍♂️ I don’t know to which department he belongs to, but I’m in an Art department, and it’s hell, getting promoted is also very difficult because seniors will hold you down for no reason, even if you will do your job right and on time, they will tell managers something like “oh we need to wait and look at his performance 1 or 2 months” and then they will find another reason and so on… now I’m thinking to move over to Design( level design) department…

He was probably pretty good back then. The thing is, gamers were much worse. Had worse setups, didn't even know what the word "metagame" meant. It was truly a time where people didn't care as much about being a good polished player. I don't doubt that he'd probably be good back then. The standard for skill gets higher every year. In recent years, it's only gotten worse. Pro players today are like 30x better than your average pug player. in 2012, they were probably like 8x as good as the average pub player. Pro CS players are essentially playing a different game to most people, and their mechanical skill is insanely superior. Pro gamers weren't much of a thing back then, only a few.

@ a guy who says he liked to run around with mp5 and "was always top3" and played mostly cs_hostage maps sounds like a true public hero to me. I dont wanna sound insulting cos thats not my intention (and theres nothing to insult) but I get a feeling that he didnt really play 5on5 matches. Ive played since 2002 and even that time you couldnt really consider anyone being good if they didnt even play actual clan matches. I mean NIP won its first CPL in 2001 so the professional scene was a thing almost from very beginning of the Counter Strike.

Tactical Intervention was amazing at the time. The problem was that the ingame weapons were locked to be bought using real money.
This is what made the game completely fall into a pit. It got removed from steam later on and while it seems scummy, the game was actually really fun when i played it.
The only thing that sucks is how you couldn't get new guns unless you paid for them. In terms of gameplay, it was a Source game, which had the controls of a Tactical shooter like Rainbow Six, but the Recoil and Gunplay of Counter Strike: Source
The art style was a bit darker than Counter Strike Source, and if i remember right, it had gore and gibs, which made it extremely bloody. It was still based on CS, meaning you had two factions (Counter-Terrorists and Terrorists)
I would love for it to come back in like a remake, but the weapon's shouldn't be locked behind a paywall.

ever since i started playing cs in 2001 gooseman has been the ghost we all looked to play with. I cant be certain, but i am pretty sure ive played with him at least once. Back then robin williams was also known to frequent servers, and im pretty sure ive locked a game with him as well, as a lot of others had im sure. cs had such a kickass community. Community servers was the golden age of cs. premier servers nowadays is the bane of cs as a whole. I think a lot of us older gamers think this way.

picked up CSGO in 2014 and played until i grew sick of 64 tick servers on MM, and faceits were 128 tick but sub par…
cs2 hasnt felt right. all of us are personally kinda pissed off with valves laziness.

The thing about AWPS, definitely not true. Having 2+ AWPs on your team is often a disadvantage, even silvers know this.

I like how positively Gooseman speaks about valve and cs2...thank god he only knows valve and CS till 2006. CS2 and in general cs the recent 5-6(at least for me) has been everything but good as well that valve has left cs to rot while pumping their loved child dota2. And i think most of the players can say that CSGO was better than CS2(we have gone back in time with this transition)

Yea I’m a bit surprised he’s unaware of the abysmal state of the game. I think if he was aware he’d be more critical of Valve.

i would not say that Valve pumping Dota recently, atleast in case of esports. like 2 years already how they stopped their own majors and cancelled DPC leagues, and there's rumors that they about to giveway all rights of The International to PGL

@ Oh damn, I was unaware of that, ty for the insight. I wrote that in the case, that as far as i remember the ratio of updates was way more in dota than in cs and with the prize money of the majors and the most recent one the anniversaries of both of the games

I discovered CS in 2004ish when my gf gifted me HL2 and it came bundled with CSS. I was hooked, played several hours every day and sank 5000+ hrs into it. Same as Gooseman I also only played community servers and enjoyed run n gun especially Gungame. I literally never came across another player better than me.
When CSGO released I didn't like it at all, it was a clunky laggy mess so I switched to BF2 then BF3 for a few years. I returned to GO in 2015/2016 and spent another 9000 hours on it 😅 currently 600 hours into CS2, again don't like it much it still needs a lot of optimisation. I particularly hate that it's forced to 64-tick.

With AI and everything else, it is not possible for a player to have an attitude outside the human standard and not be banned, the biggest mistake is wanting to ban hacks when they should be taxed on their equipment and peripherals, identity documents and of course sent to servers where they will have fake accounts and banned! They should be more concerned about the legitimate players in society and empower them with the power to suspend clearly suspicious players. I have a long experience in FPS and I guarantee that for me it is clear when there is even a slight bit of cheating, but it is clear that Valve has no desire to resolve this. It has become a cryptocurrency and no longer a game.

the solution against obvious cheaters is so easy. find some guys with high elo and experience who accept to work for volvo , let them spec games where players receive lot of reports. insta ban . i would do it for free. but volvo doesn't want to fight cheaters , they just don't care. it's obvious.

valve bloats the game everyday with no pause, literally every single day with useless updates and instead of bringing back CSGO they rather go full on RTX on the water graphics and mess the game up even more and if youre lucky to make the game run at 30 fps, you get headshotted from across the map instantly.

from business perspective I cant decide if it is good that he sold his company to valve instead of keeping it. He could be a billionaire if he was still the boss but im not sure about if cs would become this popular without the efforts of valve.

when he talks about being top 3, assumedly in a server, it kind of made me sad how "playing counterstrike" means an entirely different thing now from what it did originally and even in CSS. no more community servers that matter. todays generation has no idea what "playing counterstrike" even means... good luck discovering bhop\surf\zombies

6:40 lol cs probably has the worst anti cheat compared to other AAA FPS games, even worse than COD I'd say. Purely because valve doesnt want invasive kernal level anti cheat, their philosophy is that anti cheat shouldnt be invasive, which is why they're focusing on AI vacnet, but its garbage as we all know
