    What I admire most about Michael is that he was conscious of what was going on in the world and spoke facts, real relevant issues that people don't care or want to talk about, I think this was basically "Leave Me Alone" 2.0, Michael unfortunately never got a break, you can hear the aggressiveness in his voice, he was getting so sick of the media obsessing over every little aspect of his life with so many more important issues going on in the world and that wouldn't be the last time

    Yes!! We’re finally here!! Seph, you won’t find a bad song in this album. It’s so unique on so many levels. MJ touches upon many social and personal issues in all of the songs here. Social issues become more talked about by him in this album. It’s all wrapped up in great tunes and lyrics. And the short films are just nothing short of incredible. Can’t wait to continue this journey with you ❤❤🎉🎉

    The 90s were Michael best most controversial songs came out… it’s also the era where he was hated the most by media and went back harder in his songs..just pure anger and aggression.

    Dangerous is Michael Jackson's most socially conscious album. an answer to his sister Janet's Rhythm Nation two years earlier for sure. we were losing our innocence as a society then and the music was reflecting that. some would even argue (in certain cases) that the lighter Michael's skin got, the Blacker his music became. no way this song would have fit on Off The Wall or Thriller. it was a new decade and it was about being gangsta, sex and Rock N Roll. even those known to sing about romance and love were now directly singing about sex. no more hiding it. it was in our faces and we loved it. Michael had to bring a more edgy sound and i think he did a great job at that.

      @Markdavis-34gf 4 місяці тому +3

      I would say it definitely would not have fit on Off The Wall and Thriller albums because the media wasn't attacking him at that time yet so he wouldn't have had reasons to be frustrated about it and wouldn't need to be aggressive but beyond that if you're talking about the sound in general I totally agree, can't see this song on Thriller and even less on Off The Wall which was the disco era, a disco album.

    “Why You Wanna Trip On Me”~ Over a slinky funk/rock beat, “Why You Wanna Trip on Me” spews venom at the media’s negligence in addressing critical issues like police brutality, drug abuse, and world hunger. Jackson’s plea for affirmative action is as relevant today as it was back in 1991. Michael is annoyed & angered about why there is so much attention and focus on his life when there are so many problems in the world that need solving. He's basically saying, "Leave me alone and concentrate on what really matters", and rightfully so cause the media was so keen into MJ’s personally life that they wouldn’t stop and actually pay attention or indulge into problems within the world that actually has a ripple effect on them and the rest of the entire world. “Why You Wanna Trip on Me” is also one of the very few tracks on Dangerous that was not released as a single. This song was written by Teddy Riley and Bernard Belle. Also Teddy Riley is quoted saying “The element I’m most proud of in this song is my guitar playing. I thought he [Jackson] was going to get another person to play on it but he wanted my good self playing! That was something special to me. I was using an acoustic Ovation guitar. The whole song didn’t take long to produce, actually. I think the longest part was writing everything and getting everything formatted. There’s no studio trickery either, really. When you’re doing analogue it’s pretty much, you know, getting everything on tape, you know? It’s very warm. That’s basically it.” - Producer Teddy Riley in an interview with MusicRadar. (Songs like this remind me why I’ll always love MJ so much for eternity the eye opening experience he takes you upon within a song like this or his many other worldly profound songs that forces the listener to pay attention to his message & to what he’s actually saying and I love his raspiness style of singing on this track as well and let’s not forget the fact he was making songs like this when it wasn’t as prevalent at all he was the only one making songs with these sort of topics etc. Long Live The King Of Music Forever! Michael Joseph Jackson Truly One Of A Kind🙌🏽👑❤️‍🔥🌟💯)

    MJ starting to have something to say on Dangerous...he said stuff on Thriller too...if u can't feed the baby, don't have a baby..and don't say maybe..." remember? but now...he is emancipated and free...left Quincy Jones behind and we were maturing with him...crazy thing is they just started tripping about his surgerys and his look at this point (some gay rumours here and there) but nothing as horrid as in 93...so he already was hurt when he wrote this...just madness. Since Leave me alone ...the more he called it out it swung back at him like a boomerang harder

    I'm glad you're reacting to the lyric videos because he always has meanings to all his songs,but It's hard to just listen to the words because you're too busy grooving to the beat. The sad thing is that this album came out in 1991. It is 2024 now. We have the same problems now that we had then. Literally NOTHING has changed, and YES!! They still "Trippin" on him!!

Or maybe you'll react to it when you finish the album or...? I'm not complaining at all I'm just a little confused 😂😂 but thank you so much for this great video Seph!! I love this song, Michael spoke nothing but facts 😊 I love the passion in his voice, you can tell he was very frustrated! And yes Michael really wanted to help the world and he not only sang about it but he actually did things to try to do it from the goodness in his heart which you will hopefully soon get into ❤ unfortunately his humanutarian acts were overshadowed by the constant rumors and negative things they chose to spread just for ratings.. (although he was not doing it for attention)

    Okk Seph, here I start my comment journey! Like i told you yesterday i feel like i missed out in these like 2 months so im gonna write comments under almost all the videos you released during this period of time. And i dont care if im gonna repeat the same things the other subs already told you haha. It will take me some days but i'll do it🔥 I'm gonna start with the Dangerous Album songs and then i will comment under the 80s decade in review videos.
    Ok so this was the official time you started the Dangerous Album (because you reacted to Jam like 2 months earlier because someone requested it for his/her birthday). I already commented under the Jam reaction video when you released it but i'll paste here a part of that comment. That part of the comment talked about the album in general and since i dont think you remember it i'll now paste it here. I really recommend you to read it again since it was like 4 months ago. After that part of the comment im gonna write the information about this song, Why You Wanna Trip On Me (but please dont skip this first part haha) ⤵️
    Dangerous Album:
    1) Dangerous is the eighth studio album of Michael Jackson, it was released by Epic Records on November 26, 1991 (edit: Ohhh My God i just realized today is November 26 lool, today is the 32nd anniversary of the album!), more than four years after his previous album "Bad" in 1987. It's one of the best-selling albums of all time, having sold over 32 million copies worldwide, and was certified 8× Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in August 2018. It won a lot of awards including Grammy Awards, American Music Awards and Soul Train Awards.
    2) After the success of his seventh studio album "Bad", Michael wanted more independence and control over the creative process. For this reason, he separeted himself from longtime producer Quincy Jones to avoid the perception that his success depended on him. As you now, Quincy was the producer of all his previous solo albums (Off The Wall, Thriller and Bad) but from this album onwards, he will no longer be. With this action, Michael proved that his success did not depend on Quincy given the success of Dangerous. It was in fact co-produced by Michael himself, Bill Bottrell, Teddy Riley and Bruce Swedien.
    3) The album ranges across various musical genres, including pop, R&B, rock and new jack swing. Elements of industrial, funk, hip hop, electronic, gospel, classical and rock are also present. It was truly 90s style since with this album we entered the 90s.
    4) Michael initiated the creation of fresh tracks in 1989, collaborating with a select group, including Matt Forger and Bill Bottrell, who were part of the B-team from the Bad Album project. The initial concept for the album mirrored a greatest-hits compilation titled Decade, incorporating a few novel tracks, reminiscent of Madonna's The Immaculate Collection. Michael approved this idea in the early months of 1989, leading to the production of test pressings by Epic Records, resulting in an $18 million advance for him.
    Initially slated for a late 1989 release, Decade faced multiple delays. Despite setting a new release date for November 1990, the project failed to materialize. Michael grappled with ongoing changes in his management team, all while pursuing his aspirations in filmmaking. In June 1990, he experienced a collapse during a dance session in his home studio, potentially triggered by a panic attack, showcasing symptoms like chest pains, dehydration, and rib inflammation. Following these events, Decade was shelved entirely, leading Michael to realize that his collection of new material had evolved into a complete album, which he ultimately named Dangerous. So the recording sessions ran from June 1989 to October 1991 and Michael recorded roughly 60 to 70 songs, some of which were released later especially in his next album "HIStory".
    5) The album's front cover was painted by American pop surrealist artist Mark Ryden. It displays Michael behind a gold masquerade mask with the face of a chimpanzee (which may be Michael's pet Bubbles) atop the mask, and a dog and a bird wearing royal clothing sitting on the left and right side, respectively. Ryden had five days to come up with ideas, and he diligently worked throughout the week, crafting a design each day. His task was clear: concentrate on Michael's eyes, incorporate elements of animals and children, and vividly depict the Earth in jeopardy. Additionally, he was advised that his creations could evoke an element of fear but should maintain an underlying sense of enjoyment. Reflecting on the assignment, Ryden expressed that the cover project for Michael was the most thrilling endeavor he had undertaken thus far. According to Fraser McAlpine of BBC Music, Ryden depicted Michael as "a guarded circus artist who has seen glory and the machinery involved in making it happen".
    6) The promotion was similar to the way in which record label executives had approached Bad, expectations were set at a high bar for Dangerous. In September 1991, Michael netted a deal to have his videos air on FOX alongside regular music-video channels MTV, BET and VH1.
    7) There are 13 songs on the album and 9 of them have a short film.
    Why You Wanna Trip On Me:
    1) "Why You Wanna Trip On Me" is a song by Michael Jackson released on November 26, 1991 as the second track on the Dangerous Album.
    2) The song was produced and co-written by Teddy Riley who also played the guitar on the track. Riley used an acoustic Ovation guitar for the recording. He also said: "The element I'm most proud of in this song is my guitar playing. I thought he [Michael] was going to get another person to play on it but he wanted my good self playing! That was something special to me."
    3) Similarly to the last Bad Album song "Leave Me Alone", "Why You Wanna Trip On Me" delves into topics of critics and media focusing on Michael's private life, when it's none of their business to do so. Michael also lists problems like hunger, illiteracy, diseases without cures, drug addiction, and police brutality.
    4) The entire song didn’t take long to produce. The longest part was writing and formatting everything. There was no studio trickery; it was warm and captured on tape.
    5) Bernard Belle, a key associate of Teddy Riley during the New Jack Swing era, also co-wrote the song. He is the younger brother of classic R&B artist Regina Belle.
    6) This is considered more like a "filler track" of the album, i will tell which are the other songs that are considered "filler" in my next comments under the next reaction videos of the album.
    Ok Seph this is the end of my first comment of this "journey"! Thank you for reading it all! See you in the next ones🔥

    Seph i think i found the best way to do the reactions (for real this time). I reeeaaally recommend you to read my last email if you havent already before reading this comment, it will give you more context. Thank you for your patience Seph🙏
    Ok now that you've read it i can tell you my idea.
    In the email i told you two things, the first thing was that you should just react to the albums without any video in between because doing interviews, awards shows, etc. would just make everything messy. This is still the way i want you to do it, i havent changed my mind on this.
    The thing I changed my mind about is the second thing I told you in the email, which was the stuff about the music videos. I told you to just watch the music videos because it will be better for the future and not doing like you said (watching the music videos after one or two albums). I have a new idea: just listen to every album till the last one (without watching the music videos). After hearing them all you should go back (in this case the Dangerous Era since you have already watched everything from the Bad Era and before) and before you start "exploring" that era (with live performances, interviews, awards shows, fanmade videos, etc....), you watch the music videos from that era.
    So to recap, you just listen to every album, then you go back to the Dangerous Era and watch the music videos of this era. After watching the music videos of the Dangerous Era, you start "exploring" this era and after finishing exploring this era you move on to the HIStory Era. And you do it like this till the last era.
    I know it sounds confusing but it's not haha.
    1) Hearing all the albums;
    2) go back to where you left off (in this case Dangerous Era);
    3) watch the music videos of the Dangerous Era;
    4) exploring the Dangerous Era;
    5) move on to the next era (HIStory Era in this case) and do everything like this till the last era.
    I hope you understood everything Seph haha, in my opinion this is the best way possible if you want to hear all songs first. It will be better for you too because it will refresh your mind since under the reactions to the music videos we will comment and make you remember the information we told you in the comments under the albums reactions.
    It all sounds really confusing i know haha but trust me, its really easy and will be better for everyone. Thank you for your patience Seph haha🙏 it wasnt easy to find a solution that would work for everyone though. Thank you again🔥

    I don't know like your age or so, but I'm guessing you might be a bit young to remember the early 90s? And since Michael Jackson's been a new journey for you, maybe you don't really remember how it was when Michael was still here with us..? In the late 80s, after Thriller had broken all records basically which meant all white musicians records since there really were no black artists that had had such a wide break-through before; this was when the media switched on MJ and went for blood. MJ tried to play along for awhile but you can't play with people who seriously want to hurt you.
    Before this, ofcourse there'd too been alot of rumours, silly by comparison, but MJ still wasn't seen as a threat and hadn't reach that hight when people start hoping for a fall rather than a continous rise. Especially people who feel the power change hands and doesn't like it. Now they went for blood. MJ talks on it in this speech (among other places but this is the time MJ speeks the longest on it, on film), bad sound quality though:

    However, nothing MJ sais here, is even close to the viciousness that was actually put in print or said. It needn't be said, because everyone knew. Btw, when MJ sais "Calling me a 'homosexual'", that's the context. Not that MJ had anything against homosexulity (although identifying as straight) but the fact that it was said in a vicious way to try and harm MJ, by people who either looked down on homosexuals themselves or played to an audience that they knew would.
    And ofcourse the media got what they needed just a few years later with the first extorsion attempt in -93, an the rest of MJs life was a war zone basically.
