I have seen gamma correction also being done on images used in computer vision for object detection. Here why would gamma correction be done even rhough these algo dont care about how human eye sees
I'm not sure but if I had to guess it's probably because logarithmic responses are easier for neural networks (natural OR artificial) to process. An AI probably does better with log for the same reason our eyes evolved a logarithmic response in the first place
