I watched 2014 Godzilla in IMAX. When he roared, the entire theater was shaking and I felt it in my chest, after that I told myself I was never missing an IMAX film in an IMAX theater.
@@kishorenaveen3524 It's really not just that, image is crisp, resolution is crazy, colors are crazy, sound system is crazy. The famous godzilla roar really get's it's full potential in such systems.
@@AVDONE That's what they are doing worldwide. Because 99.9% of the movies are shot in digital cameras. So there is no point in making movie film from a digital content. So IMAX is also moving to digital IMAX cameras and 4K laser projectors. They are putting so much money in it. So flim projectors are not coming back.

While it is far better than industry standard digital theatre it is still no match for 35mm film or 70mm film. Most young people today have never experienced a 35mm film in theatre and most older people have forgotten what the experience was like.
I love IMAX, since I saw “The Dark Knight Rises”, also “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”, “The Last Jedi” and “The Rise of Skywalker”, “Avengers: Infinity War”, “Avengers: Endgame”, and “Dunkirk”, I love the IMAX version when they shot the IMAX cameras it was very visually stunning and very very very immersive experience
Except that at the Back Row is not exactly the best because there you don't get to experince the sorround sound to the fullest because you are literally just below the back speakers.
IMAX is actually better if you go up front. The point of the design is immersion by moving the screen as close as possible and narrowing your field of field into the screen. This is even more so on the smaller IMAX screen. Middle would only be sweet spot in the OMNIMAX Dome.
The crazy thing is that for such a corporate video, they're very humble about what IMAX is. You guys are crazy good, I never forget how good IMAX is compared to a normal movie at the theater.
@@jothishprabu8 Space Odyssey was shot on 70mm film which has a resolution of about 18k minimum. SO a transfer of the orginal in Super Panavision 70 to IMAX 70mm would offer an amazing film.
@Rahul Sudhakar Well my comment is over a year old and the movie was not released yet. But now I can agree your appointment, movie was mediocore. The opening scene was the best scene of the entire film, and a great start for using the IMAX cameras. The last IMAX Shot scene was pointless and I still I don’t get it why It was shot with IMAX Cameras.
That was a great digital experience but nowhere near as good as the traditional 70mm film. One of the most stunning scenes out of any movie is seeing Spartacus on 70mm when the Roman arm is on the hill top. They used 10000 extras for that scene and you can see every person on screen. And the color of the old film stocks are hundreds of times brighter and more vibrant than modern film.

Have watched Multiverse of madness yester on my hd tv in IMAX version, It has great picture quality competitive to 4k just in 1080p resolution and sound was awesome
I go to the one in Sacramento, Cali, it’s a real 70mm theater! It would be cool if there was a theater with 8-12 70mm IMAX theaters, like a regular movie theater but with all imax theaters and there would be a special Mega-IMAX, say 120+ feet tall by 150+feet wide! It would be even cooler if in the future there was IMAX 3D without 3D glasses!
AMC in San Francisco is 8 stories tall 100 feet long and it has 3D its the 3 biggest in the world it's amazing they have IMAX Laser and IMAX 15/70 Projector.

What is the range of viewing angles from back row to front row in a typical IMAX theatre, both vertical and horizontal? It just mentions 70 degrees in some of the videos, but doesn't say where in the auditorium it is.
my local imax theater doesnt have very many actual movies, just mainly documentaries which are still cool to see in an IMAX but I think like lord of the rings would be cool
IMAX commands a premium price by not allowing more than 1 IMAX screen in a 10+mile radius. Of course IMAX gets a healthy slice of ticket sales and are also paid by the studio to use the IMAX format, cameras and other proprietary features.
I have been to the sydney IMAX and it is astonishing and no digital theatre can come close to it. But there are not that many of them around and very few films to watch on them. Do a search to see if there is a 35mm film projector in you region as that has 8k resolution and is far better than any digital projector.
I am waiting for Prasad Imax hyderabad theatre to release any of the IMAX films. It's been many years seeing IMAX movie. Maybe Now it's converted into 4K large screen. Hoping the day come soon
Can someone help me find the speaker demo they used to have? It's the jazz one where each speaker is a different instrument (with one being vocals). Each one plays as the narrator says "here", "here", "here", "here", and with a MASSIVE bass drop for the sub "HERE". I can't find it anywhere except a handheld video example that's not very good quality
Whenever I see this in a theater, I can't help but think how ironic it is that a video about IMAX is so low quality/resolution. And also how when demonstrating DMR they literally just crank saturation/contrast up. I think it's kinda funny.
@@RKoen2006 Sadly it'll almost be entirely digital soon. But they were still the very first movies to be filmed entirely with IMAX cameras. It was amazing to a movie fill up an IMAX screen the entire time, it's usually just bits and peices so it was truly an experience for me :D
@@XxXDestroyer I agree with you but IMAX Laser can fill up the full screen too and if it's designed for laser it can looked amazing 15/70 happens once a year in the giant Laser threater so 15/70 is staying at special film events keep your eyes open.
@@RKoen2006 Yeah that's what I watched it on, I went to a laser IMAX that can display movies in 1.43:1 aspect ration so Infinity/Enxgame being shot on IMAX cameras it was one of the rare occasions where it actually filled the IMAX screen top to bottom and it was amazing!
It's nice but I always find LiMax screens to be dialed up too loud in their audio compared to Dobly's mix. Sometime uncomfortably loud. Also prefer the reclining seats in Dolby theaters. AMC at the block just added nicer seats to their LiMax screen but they are springing with this head pillow that forces your head down so when sitting closer to the screen it makes it hard to look up.
My country have one analogue IMAX theater since the '80s. When the IMAX digital for movies was becoming a thing, they were showing up here and there slowly but still can't match the original IMAX theater with it only having 1.90:1 screen aspect ratio instead of the more squarish 1.43:1. The problem being the owner of the analogue IMAX theater is different from the one owning the IMAX digital theaters, not to mention the old IMAX was built in a recreational park for education purposes, so the old IMAX *still* only showing documentaries. Be it very immersive. And when people around me talking about IMAX I could only think about the original one since it's just so memorable.
IMAX is just a large screen, high quality picture and good sound. And that’s why we love it so much!

The only drawback about Imax is that we can only see it in theatres, otherwise, it appears as a 4:3 film on our 16:9 screens at home.

Hmmm. For the first time, I finally went into an IMAX theater to watch Jumanji The Next Level from Philippines! It was an awesome movie experience.
It is better than the standard digital movie experience but nowhere near as good as 35mm film. Lord of the rings on 35mm film looked stunning.

I saw both in 70mm IMAX screens and it was incredible, it truly is more than just a movie it becomes an experience.
It was a digital camera still impressive but not a true IMAX camera which is 15/70 film camera.
@@RKoen2006 Sadly it'll almost be entirely digital soon. But they were still the very first movies to be filmed entirely with IMAX cameras. It was amazing to a movie fill up an IMAX screen the entire time, it's usually just bits and peices so it was truly an experience for me :D
@@XxXDestroyer I agree with you but IMAX Laser can fill up the full screen too and if it's designed for laser it can looked amazing 15/70 happens once a year in the giant Laser threater so 15/70 is staying at special film events keep your eyes open.
@@RKoen2006 Yeah that's what I watched it on, I went to a laser IMAX that can display movies in 1.43:1 aspect ration so Infinity/Enxgame being shot on IMAX cameras it was one of the rare occasions where it actually filled the IMAX screen top to bottom and it was amazing!

The first time going to IMAX, was like going to normal cinema first time, just can't compare those 2.

It's nice but I always find LiMax screens to be dialed up too loud in their audio compared to Dobly's mix. Sometime uncomfortably loud. Also prefer the reclining seats in Dolby theaters. AMC at the block just added nicer seats to their LiMax screen but they are springing with this head pillow that forces your head down so when sitting closer to the screen it makes it hard to look up.
My country have one analogue IMAX theater since the '80s. When the IMAX digital for movies was becoming a thing, they were showing up here and there slowly but still can't match the original IMAX theater with it only having 1.90:1 screen aspect ratio instead of the more squarish 1.43:1. The problem being the owner of the analogue IMAX theater is different from the one owning the IMAX digital theaters, not to mention the old IMAX was built in a recreational park for education purposes, so the old IMAX *still* only showing documentaries. Be it very immersive. And when people around me talking about IMAX I could only think about the original one since it's just so memorable.
There is no reason why the old IMAX cannot have copies for the 70mm format. The resolution of 70mm is 18k minimum.
