Interesting fact about Luna’s appearance. According to show creator, Lauren Faust, when Luna was defeated by the Mane 6 as Nightmare Moon, most of her magic was gone, and why she looked very different from what she looks like now. Her current appearance is the result of her magic being fully restored.
When I was younger I just thought she looked young and not as powerful like that because that's the age she was banished then her appearance changed as she became her appropriate age. I didn't know this was why.
"Celestia doesn't help much" is one of the biggest criticisms the character had throughout the series, and was sadly a result of her being on the brunt end of "The Worf Effect" for most of the show. She does get a chance to show off once or twice though, and moving around a star on a daily basis is no joke all things considered, but sadly being powerful also means you're likely to be used as a punching bag to show just how much stronger the big bad is. That said, I do forgive her for not helping much when Discord was around. Canonically the Elements of Harmony were the only thing that was known to be capable of beating him at the time, and she can no longer use them. On top of that her country is quite literally falling into chaos around her. So her duty as a good ruler is to try and maintain some kind of order as best she can through the chaos.
it does end up making sense in the long run for her to be that way, tbh. she would have genuinely stepped in if she thought the mane six actually needed help, twilight esp.
Celestia and Luna act similarly to Discord in this regard. They could easily solve most problems, but they purposefully hold back in order for the Mane 6 to actually learn a lesson, because they were training Twilight and her friends. This was all on purpose, and was stated outright in season 9. And also, why would Celestia disregard her royal duties, when she knows it's perfectly fine in the hooves of Twilight and her friends, who aren't anywhere near as busy all the time? There are only a few points in the story where Celestia and Luna are actually helpless, and I'd say those are the premiere of season 1, the premiere and finale of season 2, the premiere and finale of season 4, the finale of season 6, and the finale of season 8. Count that up, and that's 7 instances. Though the finale of season 8 only happened because of Twilight and her friends' interactions with and influence on a certain character.
In Return of Harmony it's interesting the WAY Discord is able to corrupt the Mane 6. A lot of people point out he can't corrupt Fluttershy except by force. But he only corrupts Rainbow Dash by *splitting* her loyalties (to her friends and to her hometown and presumably family), and he plays on one of Applejack's other virtues (namely, kindness, which she also possesses) to get her to start lying. Pinkie Pie is corrupted by her insecurities, which we've seen before: she has a deep-seated fear no one really likes her. Rarity's generosity is fragile because she also has a taste for luxury. Twilight, meanwhile, is only corrupted by isolation, and it's also coded as depression. You can't really start judging any of the Mane 6: we all have our faults and foibles, and none of them are unrealistic characters, but analyzing what exactly breaks their inner self is educational. Season 1 is fun, but the following couple seasons step it up and up in terms of quality on a couple different fronts. Story, feats of animation, song quality. The show went on too long, imo. They eventually ran out of new ideas, and you'll be able to tell when it hits. But even in some of the latest seasons there are really good episodes worth the watch, and for the next few seasons, you're in for a real treat.
Rarity’s generosity has always been interesting cuz while she does crave material possessions, she’s willing to share them with others or give things she’s made away. She’s willing to give things up, but also is greedy as well. It’s an interesting dichotomy.
The show doesn't run out of ideas in my opinion, it just evolves. The first three seasons are about Twilight and her friends living in Ponyville, showing the viewers around and getting them used to the environment. Once we get to season 4, we get put through some of the most difficult situations that particular members of the Mane 6 have been in, to show how they truly embody their elements of harmony. This leads to them solving friendship problems in season 5. After this, we get the development of a certain reformed villain, which continues through season 7, but we also get plenty of other entertaining episodes and information on characters no viewer would expect to really see in the show. Season 8 gives us a big development that gave the Mane 6 an important job to fulfill, and season 9 does not have a single episode worth skipping in my opinion, everything either wrapping up previous business or being too fun to skip. I've never seen a good reason for why anybody claims they ran out of ideas. It just seems like the show evolved in a way they did not like, since there are so many different headcanons that people have and get frustrated about when the show goes in a different direction. The longer a show goes on, the more likely it is for something like that to happen, no matter how perfect the show is. Season 6 episode 13 tackles this exact issue.
@@hoomanityt.v.645 As were others unique quotes from the Princess of the Night, such as "Huzzah! How many points do I receive?", and "Forgive me if I withhold my enthusiasm".
I really enjoy watching “Luna Eclipsed,” not just because Luna made her series comeback after being absent for a season, but because she was the main character to learn a lesson in this story. It really showed how out of touch she was from everyone and that she had to adapt to the ways that everyone is accustomed to now. This is what interests me about Luna’s character. Her being an individual with a complicated past and becoming a very likable, especially among the fandom.🙂
The only thing that bugged me about that episode is the fact that the legend about Nightmare Moon implied that she was a cannibal, which is a pretty dark concept for a kids show.
@@TheCommenterDragon Typical trope of storytellers saying things to scare the young to behave or commit to doing something that their told to do. To be fair though, NM does have some sharp teeth. And also, Pinkie was pretty much the one thing that bothered me in this episode, aside from being a chicken that is.
@@SpacialRend7 True but having sharp pointy teeth didn't mean that she developed a craving for pony flesh, and you are right even though Zecora told the legend of Nightmare Moon it was pinkie Pie and the foals she was chaperoning that got everypony believing that Luna was going to eat them. and sure Luna literally talked about turning Nightmare Night into a feast but she didn't mean like she was going to eat ponies.
@@TheCommenterDragon Idk about that,, like in fairy tales like Hansel and Gretel witches are known to eat children so I don't think it's too much of an out there concept that "the scary monster is going to eat you"
@@hanabishaven We literally have the "go to sleep or the crocodile will eat you" in spanish, people say that to kids all the time 😂 Of course Nightmare Moon also eats you in the scary story. It was probably not even scary until she actually showed up in the beginning of the series lol
Fun fact if you didn't know this about Discord's VA, John De Lancie orginally played Q in Star trek, where he messed with reality and was just a big troublemaker. Hasbro basically just cast him to play as himself.
From the stories I've heard told by show staff at conventions, the way that went down was basically like this: At a meeting with Hasbro execs, Lauren Faust was pitching the idea of Discord as a character, explaining how he was like Q from Star Trek. Lauren was telling them she wanted to get someone who sounded like John de Lancie to voice Discord, and one of the execs at the meeting said, "Can we get John de Lancie?"
I heard a theory that discord and q are literally the same person. Basically when one character does not appear in one shoes, they are being in the other show at the same time
@@hoomanityt.v.645 by the way dude I'm not going to tell you how many seasons but you're going to have to wait multiple seasons before the cutie mark Crusaders are going to be getting their cutie marks
Alright, let the season 2 reactions begin! "The Return of Harmony parts 1 and 2" are another one of my favorite two parter season premieres for the FIM series! Discord became an instant fan favorite villain! hell he's literally the most powerful villain that the Mane 6 ever faced! but seeing everything he did to turn the Mane 6 against each other and make them become the opposites of their true selves that was all pretty wacky! And "Lesson Zero" don't get me started, you would not believe how weird the episode was with Twilight having a mental breakdown i mean hell it was bad enough when it happened to Pinkie Pie in season 1 but Lesson Zero Twilight was even crazier especially with all those psychotic facial expressions, however it was also pretty funny seeing Twilight go through all those antics to learn a friendship lesson. "Luna Eclipse" instantly became another one of my favorite season 2 episodes, both because it was nice to see Princess Luna again i really liked her new design and because it was interesting to learn that Equestria had a Halloween based holiday! although the only thing that bugged me about the episode was that Pinkie Pie and Zecora implied that Luna/Nightmare Moon was a cannibal which is a pretty dark subject for a kids show. Sisterhooves Social was a pretty good episode about sibling bonding, and even though siblings fight and argue sometimes that doesn't mean they can't learn to get along. And finally, The Cutie Pox was another one if the weirdest episodes of mlp but it was also interesting to learn that there's an ancient disease that can give ponies multiple cutie marks and makes them do talents uncontrollably.
i dont think there was anything wrong with the party of one episode or the leason zero episodes in fact viewed it in the exact opposite way you viewed it i view Party Of one And Leason Zero As The Most Relatable Episodes To Me In My Opinion Cause Of how Many Similarities i had with Pinkie Pie And Twilight Sparkle In those Episodes Pinkie Pie taking Things Literal which i also do Pinkie Pie Making assumptions Which i do alot and twilight in the episode leeson zero i can relate to because of her anxiety getting the best of her and her constant worrying in the episode i do that alot sometimes i have anxiety and it drives me crazy somtimes im on the autism spectrum by the way so i can really relate to those episodes
@@Lolypop123 I think you misunderstood what they are trying to say, he may not have said that they relatable episodes like you said but i think he was saying that they are weird in terms of Twilight and Pinkie Pie having straight up mental breakdowns because even though their reasons for doing so are relatable, it was still dark for a kid show sure Twilight ad Pinkie's mental breakdowns had a humorous side but still.
I don't think Zecora really meant to call Luna a cannibal. It strikes me that the "gobble you up" bit was just a piece that got incorporated into the folklore as the details got lost and muddled over a thousand years of retellings. Nightmare Moon was probably seen as less of a pony and more of a monster. However, if you want a different interpretation of the story I would highly recommend the story "Morsel of Truth" by Pen Stroke on FimFiction.
15:49 throughout the show we see characters progress in alot of thing most are easy to miss. Twilight progressively gets better and better at magic in season 1 we twilight use the teleportation/transportation spell for the first time and she really struggles with it and even burns spike with it. She slowly becomes good at to the point of were she can do it with ease. It's also a hard spell that most of the other unicorns can't do at all or really struggles with but twilight slowly masters it as well with other spells. It's one of the small character developments that are all throughout the show even background ponies get development too. It one of the reasons why this show is so great
Sorry to say, but there's still a long time before the CMC earn their cutie marks, but I promise, it is worth the wait. But its what makes their journey so wonderful to watch; we pretty much watch them grow up with the show. I love how you catch on to every major quote that became popular memes in the fandom; shows just how well written the show still is to new viewers. I also loved how you foreshadowed yourself saying "if she gets messy, thats love" towards Rarity before seeing her covered in mud at the ending of Sisterhoof Social. ❤ (BTW it is definitely not the last we'll see of Discord, dont worry 😂)
I love “Lesson Zero,” one of my favorites for S2! I could relate to Twilight being panicky about being tardy with her assignment, just not as broken she was in the second-half of the episode. I remember that I was a nervous wreck with my class assignments in Animation college, but I learned over time that there are certain things beyond my control and to do better the next time.
me too i can relate to twilight having anxiety attacks too im on the autism spectrum even though i prefer pinkie pie as my favourite character Twilight is definitly my 2nd Favourite character twilight and pinkie pie are the most relatable characters my favourite characters are pinkie pie number 1 Twilight Sparkle and Fluttershy And Discord As My Second Favourite characters
It’s like what if you were in Twilight Sparkle Shoes In That Episode How Would You Feel I’ll Tell You how I Would Feel If I Was in Her Shoes I would Feel Like Crap And I’m Sure You would Feel Like Crap Too If you Were In Her Shoes Same as Pinkie Pie in Party Of One How would you feel if you were in her Shoes I would Feel Like Crap Too If I Was in Her Shoes In That Episode And I’m Sure you would too so I’m just trying to educate people on this Topic So They Understand It’s all about Spreading Awareness About Autism Disabilities And Mental Health So Yeah
Return of Harmony introduces one of the show's most popular villains! It also really serves to show how the Mane 6 became a cohesive group over the course of the first season and how far they've come from Lesson Zero was an opportunity for the writers to shake up the show's formula. From this point they don't need to have Twilight involved to present the lesson at the end of every show, so it gives other characters an opportunity to take center stage. Sisterhooves Social is the first episode where Twilight doesn't appear at all because Rarity and Sweetie Belle write the letter. Luna Eclipsed is the long-awaited return of Princess Luna! I've heard that the writers wanted to give her more appearances in Season 1, but the studio executives nixed it. Apparently since she was introduced as a villain the studio execs thought children were too stupid to understand her being reformed. After the first season was so successful the writers got more freedom to do what they wanted. Also, the reason Luna looks different here is because the ordeal with Nightmare Moon and the Elements of Harmony drained her of most of her magic. Here she has had time to recover and regain her power. Sisterhooves Social shows some interesting sibling dynamics. I've heard some people say that Applejack and Apple Bloom represent an idealized sibling relationship while Rarity and Sweetie Belle represent a realistic relationship. I've also seen a lot of varied reactions to the conflict with some people siding more with Rarity and others siding more with Sweetie. I have a theory that people who are older siblings are more likely to relate to Rarity's side and people who are younger siblings are more likely to relate to Sweetie. The Cutie Mark Crusaders take a while for lessons to sink in, but their episodes are usually good.
I loved nightmare night episode but i also think its more world building. Knowing the history of the ponies sleeping through her night... Her talking about a feast, and the offerings... To me i can see how this grew. Starting as a feast to Luna... princess of the moon held in the fall... But because of how late it was more and more ponies chose to sleep though it. Instead leaving gifts, offerings to Luna... The sadness and loanlyness building as she shows up year after year to fewer and fewer ponies... just foot left out for her. an "offering"... When she really wanted... somepony to talk to.
A drawing of the Fluttershy scene from Lesson Zero, found on a Swedish replacement Runescape forum no less, got me to start to check out the show. Wondered how that even happen. Started from the first episode. Tried the Swedish dub, as that was what I watched everything in until then. I could not stand the voices, moved over to the english ones, and they were easier to find on youtube as well at the time, and now, just about everything I do is with english. Went from failing english, to be near top of the class. Lesson Zero still scare me, or rather, Twilights fall into stress induced madness scares me.
It's amazing how many people around the world learned to speak English from watching the undubbed version of MLP: Friendship is Magic. I know at least two people I've met through the fandom who that's true for.
@@Narrator007 The fanfiction sure did a wonder for my comprehension. Who would have though that reading something that actually cought multiple of your own interests, would help in learning. To think, one piece of art could end up leading a person to semingly feel more confortable with a secondary languish over their native one... Though I am a bit concerned that it got me to think in english more then swedish. Mighy have gone too far off the deep end there with diving into english.
And here we are in S2, highly praised and a great follow up from the first season! Discord certainly is an interesting individual. Some of his antics are worth a chuckle and yet, questionable at the same time. At any rate, the S2 premiere was big step up for the following episode lineup for this season of MLP.
Fun Fact: Tara Stong (Twilight’s VA) said that “Lesson Zero” was her favorite episode to record lines for her character. I don’t blame her to be honest, her performance as the frazzled purple unicorn was really creepy and yet, pretty entertaining.
Ha you call that creepy something that’s creepy are horror Games And Horror Movies Leeson zero and the episode party of one Is Not creepy at all to me I find horror games and horror movies more creepy not this
Season 2, Episode 2: Twilight: This is my book and I'm gonna read it! Hmm... now does that sound familiar? The VA for Twilight is Tara Strong, who is the same VA as Timmy Turner in The Fairly OddParents. If you listen to it again, the voice is Timmy Turner... and now you will never unhear it again...
Welcome to Discord, Spirit (read as God) of Chaos and one of the most popular characters/villains in the entire show. I'm sure you've already heard that Discord is voiced by the great John De Lancie - and is loosely based off his reality-warping troublemaker from Star Trek, Q - so I won't linger on those facts. However, what I will linger on is the concept of Discording, or inverting someone to the polar opposite of themselves. During the hay-day of the Fandom, Discorded Characters were all the rage. There were Tumblr Ask blogs, told from the perspective or warped and distorted characters: my favorite being Ask Discorded Hooves, a play on the Dr. Who-styled character - Dr. Hooves - warped by his own sense of doubts and regret. It made me wonder, way back when, what would some of my favorite characters look as their inverse? Would they be silly? Scary? What would *I* be like, inverted in that way? Ponies are a bit of an extreme, since they each represent a single ideal their whole lives revolve around - their Cutie Marks. However, nuance is something that came with the Fandom, and the typical discorded inversions became more than the sum of their parts. It was little things like this that drove me to look inwards and really analyze myself. It made me rethink what I held dear, and what was just something I was clinging to unnecessarily or, in some cases, in an unhealthy way. Kids shows can really surprise you. Also, for Episode 3: Welcome to *Twilight's* mental breakdown. Every character gets at least one. Lesson Zero is the inspiration for all sorts of stuff, but it solidified the fact that these six girls are on the cusp of a mental breakdown at any given moment. And come on, this is further proof Celestia is a troll. The *sun* isn't supposed to *TICK* like that! And, as you can see, the animation *spiked* this season... Partially because of the popularity of the series, *thanks* to it's animation, which was why many bronies were first enamored with the series. Episode 4: "The Fun Has Been Doubled" was another one of those lines that just kinda... stuck. For a long while, you'd see memes of it *everywhere.* Luna's introduction in this episode is brilliant; she's suffering from culture shock in her own culture, a culture that has been raised for generations to fear her because of the terrors she brought to the land. It's heartbreaking to think that someone who once turned evil because she felt unloved and unrecognized is universally feared. She's feeling the weight of her decisions in these moments... And the end of the episode grants her some much needed catharsis for the nightmares she herself has been feeling. Episode 5: Admittedly, not much to say with this one. Squeaky Belle is adorable, and the two are just wonderful sisters. However, out of all the CMC, Sweetie has the most obvious family issues. Applebloom is pretty grounded and... well, Scootaloo's family issues are a lot less obvious. This means that Sweetie and Rarity get the spotlight often to be the viewer stand-in, putting them regularly front and center for a lot of sibling conflict. It unfortunately, at least to me, took some of the impact out of the episodes, because it felt like they backpedaled a lot on their relationship. I know they didn't, but it feels like they do. Still adore them though; they're a wonderful example of a precious sibling unit. Episode 6: Our first *REAL* look at Cutie Marks. Up till now, it just seems like a mark to show what you can do, but as this episode shows, it's more than that. Even the fake marks gave Applebloom talent beyond her normal levels, implying that these Marks actually give the ponies their proficiency, not the other way around. It's one of the most interesting parts of them, and sparked numerous big lore discussions amongst fans. What does a Mark really do? What would happen if someone loses their Mark? Never *achieves* their Mark? From here, horror stories sprung up, as they usually do. *The Tale of the Blanks* was a good one, and actually got a video game adaptation made by fans. A simple 8-bit point-and-click, but still! Theories ran wild, and with it, imaginations. It was the little things like this that sparked the community's creativity and brought us all the wonderful art we've seen over the years. On an unrelated note: It's not so much the how of Chess that's hard. The pieces are relatively simply, and the rules aren't very complicated. The difficulty comes in learning the value of your sacrifices, forethought, and planning well in advance. It's more a mind game than anything else, but you can get the rules down in a day, with a bit of application.
Well, the rules of chess are simple except for some of the special move exceptions, like pawns capturing in a different way than they move when they don't capture, knights being the only piece that can jump over other pieces, castling being the only time when you move two pieces at the same time, and the obscure _en passant_ pawn capture. Remembering all the special moves can take a bit longer than just remembering which piece moves vertically, which piece moves diagonally, etc. Imo, the real difficulty in chess comes from the sheer number of possible move combinations, which makes it extremely difficult or impossible to account for all possible responses by your opponent if you try to look further than just three or four moves down the line.
Fun (literally) fact, the word 'fun' didn't evolve till the late 1600s and didn't get to it's current interpretation till the 1700s, Luna not knowing what fun means is *an actual thing* .
(10:18) The AJ sass! 😆 (10:29) CONGRATULATIONS! The wild RAINBOW DASH has been caught! (16:04) The beginning of what I’d like to call, “The Many Faces of Twilight Sparkle.” 🤣
(At 14:58) _THIS_ part, a lot of Bronies and Pegasisters "hoped" this really happened. That and I think they were either shocked, speechless, hyped, or/and All the above. I think everyone thought she "oh snapped" his neck. Not cracked. And then after Twilight left when they saw what Fluttershy _really_ did, a lot of fans were calling B.S. on it. At least some of the previous former Bronies reactors that watched this years ago did.
The 2 first episodes if session 2 are amazing discord voice actor Johndelance the one who play W from Startrek did such an amazing job. Less5 0 is by far the second most unhinged episode right after party for one. The rest of season two and onwards are all bangers
I remember DRWolf made a video on that topic, and i think he said "If Discord was able to manipulate the Mane 6 simply by touching them, then why did he waste time playing mind games?"
@@TheCommenterDragon I'd think that he simply enjoys the game, and derived some sort of visceral joy from psychologically breaking his enemies. Hell, that's the only reason he lost. If he wanted to, he could have just taken over instantly and ensured his complete victory, but a game without a lose condition isn't any fun.
John Delancy absolutely loved doing this show. So much that he did a documentary on bronies. Oh and now you'll understand why I asked if you liked Star Trek the next generation😉
Welcome to Season 2, and while not quite in 2012 yet, this was the peak of the Bronies! Especially those who recognized Discord's voice actor as being well renowned for pestering starship captains with his omnipotent, chaotic, blindingly white magic at a snap of his fingers. XD Yes, I am talking about John De Lancie who played Q in Star Trek. I'm sure we mentioned Lauren Faust was big into Star Trek and she wanted this being to be much like Q. They asked John if he could, and he accepted it, bringing to the character that very same, charismatic and annoying role he loves to play. ;D Lesson Zero is probably one of my favorites simply because of Twilight's maniacal episode. I too go maniacal at times! NyeheheheheheheheheheheheheheeeeEEEEee! 8D Also, kind of meta: Must learn something about Friendship every week! Why? Because an episode airs every week! ;) Yes. Fluttershy DID snap the bears neck, in a very controlled manner. ;) 16:13 - HERE'S TWILIGHT!!! 8D Her in the bushes is probably my favorite fajc. 21:55 -Preconceived Notions is indeed what we had back when we first met Zecora. And there'll be more. But while they did not know Zecora, they knew of the tall dark sister to Celestia that turned into a wicked monster. Of course, not everyone gets the memo that she was reformed. Maybe they heard that the tall dark figure was banished. And now there's a tall dark figure attending the celebrations. So does that mean the banishment did not work? The public be stupid at times... Rarity's parents being so different from Rarity is definitely something people have thrown ideas around. One being they are her adoptive parents, another is that she saw the fancy Canterlot life style, fell in love with it, and trained herself to be just like it. Remember her introduction? Twilight said she was from Canterlot and Rarity so wished she could be part of that glamour and sophistication. But suppose expenses and any other factors kept her in Ponyville... Oh yeah, if her parents go on a multitude of vacations, she is stuck babysitting her sister, and need to be within throwing distance (yes, throwing Sweetie Belle from their house to the Boutique, and then back the moment they come home). But this was also a development episode for Rarity... She got dirty! Goodness Gracious! Who are you and what you done with our Pretty Prissy White Unicorn? XD Will it last? Varyingly.... :P 33:04 - Hey look! The Big Lebowski! What's that mature movie doing in a kids show? XD
in fairness. season 1 already had references to films like Blazing Saddles and Critters 2 (an 80's horror film), so they started throwing stuff out there for the adults quite early. lol
16:39 You can say anything you want to me, but that animation they give Big Mac even from the start when he grab the doll, actually show that he like the doll from the start
Sisterhooves Social is one of my favourite episodes in the series, I remember crying after seeing Sweetie Belle's drawing because it reminded me of my relationship with my twin sister and how much our relationship could resemble Rarity and Sweetie Belle's. I also remember my relatives laughing at the gone with the wind reference with the "I shall never be sisterless again" quote. It just holds a special place in my heart and I'm glad you liked it too. :)
I recommend checking out Black Gryphon's song "Crusader" (Are we there yet). It's about the cutie mark crusaders. One of my favorite of the brony songs. Better when you know the characters.
HELL YEA!!! Return Of Harmony is the birth of 2 of the most famous fanmade Brony songs, "Discord" by one of the most famous musical duos on UA-cam: The Living Tombstone, and "Entropy" by another famous artist, Awkward Marina! Such a BOP! They are such a bop, that a lot of other people who aren't Bronies or Pegasisters even use these songs for edits, animatics/animations, PMVs, and AMVs for other cartoon villans! DEFF reccomend listening to them on your other channel!!! Also for Lesson Zero, after this episode aired, fans started to conclude that Twi Twi has OCD, some form of Autisim, and Anxiety. Reccomend watching Hallelujah Brony's video (DAMN THAT WAS 7 YEARS AGO?!?) called "The Mane Six's Personality Disorders?". Deffenetly explains a lot more!
Im not sure if you noticed this but, when Applejack got corrupted (Her element is honesty) she started lying, when pinkie pie got corrupted (her element of harmony is laughter) she became anything but laughter. when rarity got corrupted(element of generosity) she became greedy, when fluttershy got corrupted (kindness) she became cruel. when rainbow got corrupted (loyalty) she left her friends for “cloudsdale” and twilight became lonely, even though her element is magic, which at first makes no sense until you realise friendship is magic and the opposite of friendship is loneliness
Luna's speech is more archaic here than later on, hence why she uses the royal plural. The reason why that was a thing in the first place was that the king or queen - or in this case, princesses - as a person represented the kingdom as a whole entity. So they used "we" as a way of saying "what I say is what the entire kingdom says".
Elemental opposites are a concept that the bronies have LOVED since Return of Harmony. Honesty becomes Deception Laughter becomes Bitterness Generosity becomes Greed Kindness becomes Cruelty Loyalty becomes Betrayal and the Magic of Friendship becomes Loneliness
Discord is probably my favorite character other than Rainbow Jack. The way he talks, his personality. Even tho he's a villain here, having discord in life is important. Plus its just hilarious to see what he comes up with.
Imagine how Luna must feel. In the 1000 years she's been banished, Celestia became ruling regent of the entire country, her parents are nowhere to be seen, an entire holiday was made about propoganda of her, technology, speach, and culture have evolved without her, and the one day she wants to spend time with her subjects they cower away from her and treat her like she's still Nightmare Night. I would have been so pissed if i was her!
Luna is saying “We” because early on she speaks in plural when addressing herself but only sometimes It’s not clear why she does that but she is referring to herself when she says we
The technology in mlp is... inconsistent. Sometimes, especially in earlier seasons, it seems early industrial revolution, while other times it seems almost mid 20th century. At the very least it seems like it depends on location. Ponyville has limited access to electricity, but old fashioned ways of doing things are still conmon hence the lack of washer and dryer. canterlot seems to have access to it but not rely on it so much because the population is mostly unicorns so they rely more on magic than technology. Manehatten and los pegasus have a lot of reliance on electricity and technology, and some places like appleoosa have no access to it at all.
If you ever get in the mood to do more fandom stuff, I highly recommend "Friendship is Witchcraft". its a kind of abridged series with different takes on the characters. ep 3 (i think it was 3) covers "Sisterhooves Social" and is one of my favorite things to come out this fandom. or should i say, focuses on one my favorite characters to come out the fandom.
Ah the cutie pox, the same plague that befell Ponies in olden times that lead to the founding of Sunnytown. A mysterious town out in the Everfree Forest. Populated only by blank flanks, of all ages. A real Racoon City if you catch on quick. (Fan made game: Story of the Blanks, excellent addition to the fandom, but dark!)
I definitely didn't catch this until my second run-through but the scene that Applejack is shown in the maze wasn't a lie because it was them in Ponyville splitting up. I thought that was so clever once I saw it again.
Lol, bro really thought he had already figured out the CMC's future cutie marks. I can't wait to get to the episode where you finally get to see it happen. It's one of my favorites. XD X3
I think John de Lanci did a great job every time he played Discord and for the record, the return of harmony wasn't the first time Applejack lied that would be in Party of One when she lied to Pinkie's face about the barn being renovated also it's pretty creepy for ponies to use parchment since parchment is made from thin animal skin (leather) since they don't eat meat they must kill pigs I figure that's the reason they raise pigs any way they must throw out the meat making what they do pretty sneaky and evil.
by the way Even Though Pinkie Pie is My Favourite character in the show i can relate to twilight the 2nd most. i can relate to twilight having anxiety attacks too im on the autism spectrum even though i prefer pinkie pie as my favourite character Twilight is definitly my 2nd Favourite character twilight and pinkie pie are the most relatable characters my favourite characters are pinkie pie number 1 Twilight Sparkle and Fluttershy And Discord As My Second Favourite characters
I think i told this here, but if not... so, around 2012, I gotten it in my head that i wanted to see the origin of memes, so i had started looking up the original versions of certain memes going around at the time to see where they came from. One of them was fus ro dah, which i knew was from skrim but didn't know what it was exactly. one of the top search results was the one using dash teaching fluttershy to cheer. i didn't even know the show existed at the time and was curious so looked at the video. I thought it was kinda cute and nice animattion. the suggestions had another one (dash vs the dragon in dragonshy). i then went down a pony rabbit hole, until one vid someone commented about fluttershy snapping a bear's neck. i was like "wut?" then said "f*** it" and started checking out the show. so in a way, that scene not only goes hard, but also is kinda what brought me into the fandom. lol
the episode sisterhooves social inspired the song “Sister Hate” by The Living Tombstone- he started out making mlp fan music before doing more original stuff EDIT: got distracted while watching this- there’s also an abridged series that has a song using the race sequence called “Sweetie’s Big Race”
When you get to episode 14 (The Last Roundup) DO seek out the unedited episode! (maybe react to the differences between the original, and at least one of the edited versions ( I say "one of," since over the course of censoring it, there were a couple of versions if my recollection is correct).

Sorry, but it's a little late to be trying to warn this uploader about anything in the current season. He's over a full season ahead on Patreon, nearing the end of season 3 there.
What you are great at and what you feel your life purpose is gets muddied over the years as more CMC episodes releases. These three have the best growth arc that span practically the whole of the generation 4!
This video’s currently missing from the mlp playlist! (Since I’m typing this anyway, thank you for all the reactions! It’s nice reliving the show like this :3 )
Sisterhooves Social is one of my favorite episodes. This makes me want to have a sister because I'm the only girl in the family with two brothers and sometimes I need a break to spend time with my girl cousins 🥺🥺🥺💗💗💗
For one thing, she can't control the elements and being of royal status, she isn't allowed to fight for the safety of ther kingdom unless there's literally no other choice but to help defend. Second, she has her princess duties to uphold and keep the peace among the other(possibly panicking) ponies while the mane six are doing their job as the elements of harmony. Just because she isn't in the middle of the battle, doesn't mean she isn't doing anything. Even in these episodes, she was thinking ahead of time knowing Twilight would need those letters to remind her how strong their friendship was. If Celestia didn't keep sending those friendship lesson, Discord probably would've won.. he already got to Twilight at that point. Honestly, Celestia saved the day that episode.
@@MsPandacakes I actually never thought of that, and I've been a fan of mlp since 2011 lol but I just said it because celestian doing nothing was kind of a meme back then, and maybe still
I've just seen your season 1 finale and I was excited for the second season also known as MLP's best season what was your favorite episode from these 6, mines was lesson zero and here is a fact Discord is voiced by John De Lanice known for star trek & here is one more nod every weird item or form discord took to turn the mane 5 (not counting twilight) against each other represented their cutie marks, Applejack found 3 red apples resembling her mark eventually leading to the grove of truth, Pinkie Pie finding a balloon garden and you may miss it for how quick it is but she sees 3 balloons two blue one yellow resembling her mark, Rarity's 3 blue Daimond's, Discord himself as 3 blue butterfly's with pink wings as Fluttershy's cutie mark & a white cloud that would release a red, yellow, & blue lightning bolt for Rainbow Dash (P.S I just watched ahead and realized you noticed but for fun info sakes)
I don't get along with my siblings ... I'm not on speaking terms with my sisters ... and the only brother I hang out with daily is the one I live with ... and he gets on my nerves ... he solves disagreements by yelling at me in order for him to be right and me to be wrong. I told him "Even when you're wrong you're right!" and he agreed with me!
Been watching the song reactions on your other channel for a while and just recently found out you had reactions to the episodes. Been watching through these lately and loving how much you're enjoying it! Just wanted to let you know I'm enjoying the reactions so far! I also wanted to note that you seemed to miss adding this video to the reaction playlist. I almost missed this one because the playlist skipped from the season 1 finale to season 2 episode 7.
Interesting fact about Luna’s appearance. According to show creator, Lauren Faust, when Luna was defeated by the Mane 6 as Nightmare Moon, most of her magic was gone, and why she looked very different from what she looks like now. Her current appearance is the result of her magic being fully restored.
Woah! I didn’t know that! I always wondered why she looked different lol-
When I was younger I just thought she looked young and not as powerful like that because that's the age she was banished then her appearance changed as she became her appropriate age. I didn't know this was why.
Not to mention time catching up to her.
@@The_Hush_Dragon thats how I see it. She had 1000 years of growth to catch up with.
@@MsPandacakes Nope, she looked the same in the flashbacks in the season 4 premiere
THE SUN GODDESS LAZY BONE!!!!
Indeed
Besides she did want twilight to well...thats spoilers
But she does help in season 6
Discord is genuinely one of my favorite characters of the series. He’s so much fun 😂
Agreed he’s one of my second favourite characters
Discord and Twilight Sparkle and fluttershy my 2nd favourite characters and Pinkie Pie my 1st favourite character
Especially when he
**Spoilers**
Becomes good LMAO
And not all people noticed but seeing how he kinda 'hate' twilight is actually him being supportive in a weird way
I think he’s my third favorite!
Which discord was really smart
He knew the elements gained power from being together so he split them apart
That is good villain 101!
Rarity’s generosity has always been interesting cuz while she does crave material possessions, she’s willing to share them with others or give things she’s made away. She’s willing to give things up, but also is greedy as well. It’s an interesting dichotomy.
@@BelBelle468 indeed
She's quite the _rarity_
Hehe
"The fun has been doubled!" Was absolutely memed all to heck back when the episode first aired.

John De Lancie became an absolute legend in the mlp community when he started playing Discord! his voice was perfect for the character's personality!
He says bronies are even more tight-knit as a fan community than Trekkies, which I take as a compliment
Well, he did basically just reprise his role as Q for Discord...
Q moved on from pestering Captain Picard to pestering six colorful ponies.
@@twist58 parallel universes abound. Q in one universe is Discord in another.
Discord was modeled after Q
@@TheCommenterDragon Idk about that,, like in fairy tales like Hansel and Gretel witches are known to eat children so I don't think it's too much of an out there concept that "the scary monster is going to eat you"
@@hanabishaven We literally have the "go to sleep or the crocodile will eat you" in spanish, people say that to kids all the time 😂
Of course Nightmare Moon also eats you in the scary story.

I could never forget Luna's royal Canterlot voice, it's iconic!
The fun has been doubled!!! /)
i dont think there was anything wrong with the party of one episode or the leason zero episodes in fact viewed it in the exact opposite way you viewed it i view Party Of one And Leason Zero As The Most Relatable Episodes To Me In My Opinion Cause Of how Many Similarities i had with Pinkie Pie And Twilight Sparkle In those Episodes Pinkie Pie taking Things Literal which i also do Pinkie Pie Making assumptions Which i do alot and twilight in the episode leeson zero i can relate to because of her anxiety getting the best of her and her constant worrying in the episode i do that alot sometimes i have anxiety and it drives me crazy somtimes im on the autism spectrum by the way so i can really relate to those episodes

Return of Harmony introduces one of the show's most popular villains! It also really serves to show how the Mane 6 became a cohesive group over the course of the first season and how far they've come from
Lesson Zero was an opportunity for the writers to shake up the show's formula.
There he is. Discord’s first appearance. What a fun character. He’ll show up more frequently a bit later.

24:50 Pip: "You're my favorite princess ever!"
Echoing 95% of the brony fandom.
18:40 "Stop looking at me directly in my eyes, alright Fluttershy?"
Worried that you'll fall under her spell, sir?
hahahahahahahha
(At 14:58) _THIS_ part, a lot of Bronies and Pegasisters "hoped" this really happened. That and I think they were either shocked, speechless, hyped, or/and All the above.
I think everyone thought she "oh snapped" his neck. Not cracked.
And then after Twilight left when they saw what Fluttershy _really_ did, a lot of fans were calling B.S. on it. At least some of the previous former Bronies reactors that watched this years ago did.
"find the elements back where you began" S1E1 0:00 first thing we see... the book. ~
The 2 first episodes if session 2 are amazing discord voice actor Johndelance the one who play W from Startrek did such an amazing job. Less5 0 is by far the second most unhinged episode right after party for one. The rest of season two and onwards are all bangers
Notice that Discord was able to manipulate all of the ponies _except Fluttershy._ He had to directly enchant her.
She's too good for this world.
She must be protected!!!
Foreshadowing!
Ah, lesson zero, the best Twilight episode in the series. I love it.
John Delancy absolutely loved doing this show. So much that he did a documentary on bronies.
Oh and now you'll understand why I asked if you liked Star Trek the next generation😉
Q moved on from pestering Captain Picard to pestering six colorful ponies.
@@twist58 and it was glorious
@@twist58 Mostly Twilight, though. That one seems to be his favorite to pester, probably because she's the orderly, organized one (order vs. chaos)
Welcome to Season 2, and while not quite in 2012 yet, this was the peak of the Bronies! Especially those who recognized Discord's voice actor as being well renowned for pestering starship captains with his omnipotent, chaotic, blindingly white magic at a snap of his fingers. XD
Yes, I am talking about John De Lancie who played Q in Star Trek. I'm sure we mentioned Lauren Faust was big into Star Trek and she wanted this being to be much like Q. They asked John if he could, and he accepted it, bringing to the character that very same, charismatic and annoying role he loves to play. ;D
Lesson Zero is probably one of my favorites simply because of Twilight's maniacal episode. I too go maniacal at times! NyeheheheheheheheheheheheheheeeeEEEEee! 8D
Also, kind of meta: Must learn something about Friendship every week! Why? Because an episode airs every week! ;)
Yes. Fluttershy DID snap the bears neck, in a very controlled manner. ;)
16:13 - HERE'S TWILIGHT!!! 8D
Her in the bushes is probably my favorite fajc.
33:04 - Hey look! The Big Lebowski! What's that mature movie doing in a kids show? XD
in fairness. season 1 already had references to films like Blazing Saddles and Critters 2 (an 80's horror film), so they started throwing stuff out there for the adults quite early. lol
16:39
You can say anything you want to me, but that animation they give Big Mac even from the start when he grab the doll, actually show that he like the doll from the start
Yesss I LOVE "Discord" and "Entropy"
I feel you, one of my favorite quotes is by Mark Twain "Never put off till tomorrow what you can do the day after tomorrow."
Luna Eclipsed is the first episode i saw all the way through, and I was instantly hooked.
I LOVE your occasional comments about the background music and SFX.
its the music man in me lol
Elemental opposites are a concept that the bronies have LOVED since Return of Harmony.
Honesty becomes Deception
Laughter becomes Bitterness
Generosity becomes Greed
Kindness becomes Cruelty
Loyalty becomes Betrayal
and the Magic of Friendship becomes Loneliness
Discord is probably my favorite character other than Rainbow Jack. The way he talks, his personality. Even tho he's a villain here, having discord in life is important. Plus its just hilarious to see what he comes up with.
1:24 "I was like... is this poo water, bro?"
This is Equestria, not Fed Ex Field! XD
Luna is saying “We” because early on she speaks in plural when addressing herself but only sometimes
It’s not clear why she does that but she is referring to herself when she says we
"you know how sad you have to be to make your bow droop"
HAHAHA best line ever
35:58 I wonder what this part where Applebloom was speaking in French was like in the French dub.
Tom is my personal G
Nah but really seeing some dark humour in lesson zero is a breath of fresh air in a show of this genre.
Manehatten and los pegasus have a lot of reliance on electricity and technology, and some places like appleoosa have no access to it at all.
yeah I was really wondering the time period
"Please let the CMCs get their cutie marks, I really want that payoff" Ohhh David xD All I'll say is, the payoff is totally worth it.
But it's not on Netflix, as it's in a season that was removed from there.
@@phictionofgrandeur2387 True! I hope David has access to those seasons from some other source.
29:26 that scene is a parody on the "gone with the wind" ending.
"God is my witness! I will never be hungry again!"
Watching these reactions bring back core memories from high school. So many YTPs and PtA shorts
discord is an amazing villain, very fun
Ah the cutie pox, the same plague that befell Ponies in olden times that lead to the founding of Sunnytown. A mysterious town out in the Everfree Forest. Populated only by blank flanks, of all ages. A real Racoon City if you catch on quick. (Fan made game: Story of the Blanks, excellent addition to the fandom, but dark!)
As a note, this video is not in the playlist for the series :)
The CMC have one of my favorite arcs in MLP.
Will you be following the show all the way through season 9, or just the few seasons that are on Netflix?
man nothing better than watching a multi-reaction episode
I think i told this here, but if not... so, around 2012, I gotten it in my head that i wanted to see the origin of memes, so i had started looking up the original versions of certain memes going around at the time to see where they came from. One of them was fus ro dah, which i knew was from skrim but didn't know what it was exactly. one of the top search results was the one using dash teaching fluttershy to cheer. i didn't even know the show existed at the time and was curious so looked at the video. I thought it was kinda cute and nice animattion.
the suggestions had another one (dash vs the dragon in dragonshy). i then went down a pony rabbit hole, until one vid someone commented about fluttershy snapping a bear's neck. i was like "wut?" then said "f*** it" and started checking out the show.
so in a way, that scene not only goes hard, but also is kinda what brought me into the fandom. lol
the episode sisterhooves social inspired the song “Sister Hate” by The Living Tombstone- he started out making mlp fan music before doing more original stuff
EDIT: got distracted while watching this- there’s also an abridged series that has a song using the race sequence called “Sweetie’s Big Race”
When you get to episode 14 (The Last Roundup) DO seek out the unedited episode! (maybe react to the differences between the original, and at least one of the edited versions ( I say "one of," since over the course of censoring it, there were a couple of versions if my recollection is correct).
Eh. Not really a big deal, there's hardly any difference but I kinda prefer the new version.
@@noxagonal RD first not calling her Derpy and then her voice changing, I definitely weren't the only edits - I seem to recall a later edit (IIRC the current version) where they also killed her sarcasm in responding to her... am I creazy in remembering multiple edit versions?>
Sorry, but it's a little late to be trying to warn this uploader about anything in the current season. He's over a full season ahead on Patreon, nearing the end of season 3 there.
Every character have a mental breakdown throughout the show.
What you are great at and what you feel your life purpose is gets muddied over the years as more CMC episodes releases. These three have the best growth arc that span practically the whole of the generation 4!
Yes! I love Discord so much. Watching you react to MLP brings me so many memories :') I love this show so much
14:50 yea, I was surprised seeing this as well.
I sometimes forget how good this show was, i somehow forgot we saw Raritys parents
This video’s currently missing from the mlp playlist!
(Since I’m typing this anyway, thank you for all the reactions! It’s nice reliving the show like this :3 )
I just realized lmaoo that the S2 premier is like Magical Mystery Cure
I LOVED THIS SEASON! Your reactions make me go down a memory lane!!(:
I love all the references like the big lebowski on ep 6 or the star wars on the 2nd
22:10 the famous line was born
Ready for the big leagues now!
Yep
eeyup
Sisterhooves Social is one of my favorite episodes. This makes me want to have a sister because I'm the only girl in the family with two brothers and sometimes I need a break to spend time with my girl cousins
🥺🥺🥺💗💗💗
be ready to princess Celestia doing nothing being a recurrent thing
@@MsPandacakes I actually never thought of that, and I've been a fan of mlp since 2011 lol
but I just said it because celestian doing nothing was kind of a meme back then, and maybe still
THAT LAZY BONE
3:17 the first of many instances where Celestia is useless. Get used to it David, it happens a lot in this show!
Luna uses "we" because she's using the royal we. Apparently monarchs used to refer to themselves with plural pronouns
Oh that is super interesting!
This video is missing from the MLP reaction playlist! Thought to just notify you. :3
A lot of episodes in one video, I like it!
Oh youre gonna be seeing lots of twilight goin nuts my friend 😆 its the best honestly
I think that you forgot to add this one to the mlp series reaction playlist.
Glad to have some more mlp content 😌😌
You'll see later that it's a reacurring joke that Celestia is useless and never helps
And the journey continues!
It has come to my attention that this reaction is left out of the My Little Pony reaction playlist
