My answer: the "peaceful transfer of power" never depends specifically on POTUS in the US Constitution system (which intentionally divides powers among the 3 branches). The fact is that in 2020 power was peacefully transferred independently of whatever thoughts one might imagine were in Trump's head. My interpretation of blue paranoia on this point is the blue tendency to substitute politics for religion which leads to an expectation that POTUS has some religious messianic properties (the worst examples of that would be certain 20th century tyrants). Reds tend somewhat closer to traditional religion which has a lot of nuanced things to say about "saviors" and "politics". I wont get into details here...
