Torobo hammering a nail

- This is a demo of hammering a nail. The instantaneous rebound force from the hammer is absorbed through a combination of the elasticity of the rubber material securing the hammer, the deflection in torque sensors and harmonic gears, backdrivability, and impedance control. This allows the nail to be driven with a certain amount of force.

Nailed it.
beat me to it
I appreciate that this robot vaguely looks like a knight which is great
Tin man
wow and peace be upon you sir
Great, they know how to use hammers now
Duuuude, the coordination it takes to hammer a nail right... Impressive. The other robots are out here picking up cubes 😅
Wait until the nail gun hand attachment is released. 😂
@@Cinemaphile7783or chainsaw
@@am497 Hell yeah
Miyazaki vibes in the design. Thank you. The world needs this 🦾🙂🙏
Ha!
A human had to:
-take the nail out of the pouch
-orient it properly
-set the nail in the proper place
-tap it in place first so it stands up.
I'm not saying it's not true in this case, but if it can hammer in a nail, that's the hard part done. Next step, you give it belt fed nails that are all in one orientation (like in a nail gun) and the other hand can hold, or dispense them with no problem, and it hammers it in, since it can do that with enough precision.
@@P-Ian These days most tradesmen use nail guns. Of course this isn't really about hammering nails, it's about the complexities of human tasks that involve multiple integrated steps.
Very nice
But will it still be able to do the hammering when displaced humans toss a burning tire over its head?
오오. 이거 멋집니다. 저 로봇이 여러대 있으면 망치질 하나는 확실하게 업무 가중도가 줄겠군요.
😮 what were you guys saying about I'm going to become a handyman or a plumber what was that😮
Before long...."wax on, wax off". Mr.MiagiAi
I think the nail gun has been invented. Now imagine a robot with a nail gun..
Awesome work, now how is that cure for cancer going boffins?
They're working ona vaccine for cancer. So fingers crossed good things come of that (just an FYI)
ok but he only has 4 fingers, the same amount as me
Views gonna shoot up in coming days. Although 4k on 21 July.
17k now on the 22nd
Couldn't you save time with a nail gun attachment? Then when it decides to turn against humans it would be more efficient at eradicating us?
Nail guns actually suck compared to hammering reasons why it splits the wood, doesn't last as long.
Also, I think it's more about showing the robot's capability to have enough power and acceleration to hammer in a nail, not many robots are designed for this
Why not just use a nail gun hand attachment?
Call me back when they can use Jedi laser sabers to fell trees.
But ,can he stand the heat?
It has a hammer for a hand, its not holding a hammer. It also pauses and looks at the nail as if to think, "I can do this." And then performs the same motion over and over.
I love that we are seeing the very beginning of humanoid robitics doing "amazing" things, but if thisnis truely the pentacle of engineering in 2024, i wish the algos would chill with the hype.
Very impressive, but can it make me a bowl of ramen? 😊
WRONG. And the fact that AI is growing in a stacked exponential fashion means that just give whatever you think AI cannot do a couple years. They already have robots that can hammer nails, but that will seem like 100 years ago in a few years.
Not impressed until i see it working at the same speed or faster than a roofer.
They'll be faster and it'll probably take less than 2 years. They'll also work round the clock.
@movienerd202 and not need pay, sicks time, breaks. Won't ever complain, will always obey and the work will be better
@@rothiasx1a And they'll eventually get a nail gun hand attachment and be doing parkour while framing your house
And there will one day be a billion robots around the world doing everything
@@rothiasx1a until weather conditions kicks in, or something.. A sensor gets knocked and boom robot ceases function, gonna waste a weeks worth of work and thousands of dollars
Now we can throw away our nail guns.
Now him it the nail in it’s hand and ask it to hammer it in. That is the real challenge not this
Why not just make a small device with arms and hands, that sits on the floor or whatever surface is being nailed and use a sling shot effect and could go down a chained line and just nock out hundreds in seconds.. i guess what im saying is why a big bulky human looking thing.. there is waaaay more logical ways to do this including the use of magnets, don’t even need electronics in most cases. I think if we are recreating ourselves what good are we, let’s make things let help us not just look like us, this thing is slow and barely accurate
Because the aim is to replace people in a people shaped world. Transport mails and lumber from van, walk across building site with obstacles, walk up stairs, climb ladder, add nails to joist plates.
Work 24/7, use existing tools to save initial investment and open up expandable job roles.
It's not just a nailer, it shows the wealth of possibilities. Brick laying, , roof laying, felting, trench digging, digger operation etc...
@markp8295 and after a certain period of time, the more specialized robots that are more efficient but non human will get common
😂. That would take 4 years just to nail together two pieces of wood 😂
Sociedade 6.0 / Automação com o 5G.
It looks like a human!!
it looks like a vacuum 😄
Hence, the term humanoid 🙄
小意思!简单的机器人
Now show it setting the nail. lol...
And the set up took 5 hours 😂
Once it's perfected though... it'll go from one to a million really quickly
Once again a "humanoid" robot doing a job slower, crappier, and more expensive than just buying a regular 6 axis and mounting the correct end of arm tooling. Totally worthless.
"This is a _DEMO_ of hammering a nail"
(One day people might read the video description before passing judgement on visuals alone 🤷)
Just admit that you're going to have to find a new line of work very soon.
What's wrong scared your jobs going to go ahhhh poor baby there's always mc Donald's
@@Go2hell-fulgybitchscum Why are you dying on this hill? Lol you're gonna get replaced aswell
NOBODY hammers nails anymore. Today we have
nail guns which drive the nails in. No effort required.
!
It's just a demonstration of this robots capability
Of which it has none. Not one of these "humanoid" robots has demonstrated doing anything remotely superior to a standard 6 axis robot with proper end of arm tooling. Ok maybe they can do the .5 mph Biden shuffle up to the working surface lol, that's it. Worthless. @@sailingadventurer
@@testy462worlds infrastructure is designed around humans, not 6 axis robot arms. being humanoid allows the robot to navigate in human infrastructure and use any tools or facilities that human can.
@@testy462If you care to read the video description this is a _demonstration_ of all the factors that go in to calculating and accurately hitting a nail on the head. I'm sure after a great deal more research you'll get your fictional, "Hollywood" robot you're after.
Most other countries don't use nails the same way as America. We use screw guns mostly, everyone knows nails are shit. We'd frame using screws.
