Third try at catching a sword here in Socal. We are just starting to crack the code. I got bit on the wind up with my Tanacom 1200 at about 775ft. It didn't register to me at first as a sword bite since A) I never had a bite before and B) I was winding up. Fish whacked it good 3 times, I then dropped back 25 ft and nothing. The jumbo squid I had on there had been completely torn off the leader. I stitched it using your 2 hook squid rig method too, super bummed but will keep trying to get one. BTW- A 524 lbder was just caught out here, we see a lot of 200-300 lbders here too.
Yeah, it's a challenge. Keep after it. It is common for swords ro follow the bait up. Dropping it down was the right thing. Have you checked out all the swordfish videos on our site www.inthespread.com

Radical where were u fishing lol been trying for a sword myself got hooked up last year but I fumbled the weight and it broke free get tight my boy
