Thank you for your video. I watched your repellent video and took notes. I have a repellent recipe that I will add your method to. I have been putting glycerine in mine. It is said to add to the time it is effective. Your mosquito killer method is similar to one I’ve used for three years. It combines yeast sugar and water. Salt is added which kills the mosquitos. It has worked well. I’m going to incorporate your info to make a better trap. Just subscribed! Looking forward to learning more. Your garden is beautiful. Love the bonsais.

@@beckybrown3291 That is funny Becky, hehe. For those who don't know what the Mosquito Bits is, its a product you buy, like on Amazon, they are little granules that are like bits of the original donut-shaped bigger Mosquito Dunks, they have a sterile bacteria in them that is released in the water and live for the next 2 weeks, the bacteria kills mosquito larvae and then the bacteria dies off. A perfect way to sit up a mosquito 'trap' is put water in a 5-gallon bucket, put in the shade, put bits in them, and over the next week all the mosquitos will lay their eggs in the bucket because of the convenience of the bucket, and your mosquito population will drop dramatically. Dump out the water and replenish with bits every 14 days. I also sprinkle bits in water pans and such that is outside and collects water, that keeps them clean also. The bacteria is harmless to animals and people

It is spring here, and I've been using these traps for 5 weeks now. I have only two installed in my garden, one on either end, but my garden is not very large and they seem to be coping ok.
Since I installed them, right at the start of spring, I have had next to no mosquitos in the house. Normally by this time of the year the mosquitos would be a real problem, affecting my sleep and biting frequently. This year so far, simply nothing.
I have found that for best effectivity I have to replace the liquid and the blue cheese every two weeks - From just less than 3 weeks I start to see mosquitos again, so two weeks is the charm.
I am so pleased that I have finally found a solution for this problem. It is extremely annoying and affects my perceived quality of life. I will be using this uninterrupted every summer from now on.

There's a product called Dunks that is used to eliminate mosquitoes in large tanks and ponds it kills larva and is non-toxic for animals. I use half a Dunk in a 5 gallon bucket about 1/2 full moving 2 buckets around the garden as needed , I haven't seen a mosquito all summer when using this method. Mosquitoes tend to stay close to the ground so the buckets seem to work best on the ground.

The concern I have with traps is, will it attract insects from acres away, that ordinarily would not be around your house. Years ago I bought fly traps from Home Depot. The traps were so effective that in a matter of days there were thousands of dead flies in the trap. There is no way all those flies were local to my property, and in fact were attracted to the awful scent from quite a distance away. If only we can get neighbors on board to also use the same techniques, it might actually be a long term solution.

I have done a lot of research on why I attract mosquitoes. I definitely quit wearing dark clothes outside. Apparently if you eat a lot of soured milk products like sour cream, yogurt, kefir, cottage cheese etc, your skin puts off a smell that the mosquitoes flock after. I am AB blood type and those are beneficial foods. Yep, they LOVE me. How about eating sour milk foods and wait a day and put a black T shirt on that is oversized, get extremely hot and sweat like CRAZY then cut that shirt up and use THAT as bait? I bet they will LOVE my black shirts. Normally I wear very light colored shirts to keep the heat down and avoid attracting mosquitoes. I will take my rattiest dark cotton shirt and wear it tomorrow and see how that works for my traps. Thank you!

From my experience, any standing water will attract mosquitoes. Throw your “donuts”, in each area. Done! They will last a few weeks or so.

Mosquito Bits: When applied to water, it will release Bacillus thuringiensis sp israelensis (Bti), a naturally occurring bacterium that acts as a species-specific larvicide. As it dissipates in the water, the larvae that's present will feed on it and perish within 24 hours.

SIMPLE yet Highly Effective Trap HERE 👇
All this work is moot as Mosquitos love standing water period...no more, no less!
Best to just get a few buckets placed strategically around the perimeter of the yard and just break the surface tension by adding a bit of dish soap!

    You can thank me later...haha!
