- If you have the P0456 check engine light code on your Jeep Grand Cherokee WK2 (Small EVAP System Leak) then this could be one of the common reasons why. Your ESIM is bad. In this video I show you how easy it is to replace. The ESIM is the Evaporative Emissions System Leak Detection Pump
This procedure is the same for the 07-19 Dodge Durango.
I got mine from Dorman for $20.

mine rattled just like yours, just replaced and cleared the code. This should be the fix, thanks for the vid!
You're making this look too easy! Thanks for the guidance.
Thanks for posting.
Was your Jeep pumping fuel? Mine is not. When I pump fuel, it auto stops after 1.5 gallons.
Mine was still pumping fuel fine
My leak was obvious to the naked eye with a split hose on the evap valve at the top of the engine. Heat rises naturally from the engine and dry's out the plastic hose. Repaired that the best I could without replacing the hose. Cleared codes. Code came back in 3 days. Replaced the esim, cleared codes, and again after three days code came back. This time I will remove the evap valve and use a vacuum gauge to test it for leaks. 2018 Laredo 3.6L
Excellent video. Having the same code on my 2016 Jeep GC Summit. I have the lifetime Mopar warranty and debating if I should just spend $22 and follow your instructions or take it to the dealer
Thank you for the helpful video. When I pulled out the inner fender liner there was a hose that wasn't connected into anything. I searched to see if it was meant to be inserted into anything but didn't see anything. Do you know if that hose is intended to be like that or what it may be for?
Same on my 2013 overland 5.7
The white piece inside my brand new Mopar ESIM part slides as well when i tilt it back n forth. So I'm pretty sure that's normal.
What year was this cherokee?
Did you clear the code or allow for the car to clear it after driving for a bit?
I cleared it myself
did the problem come back after replacing that part?
No sir that fixed it!
Mines came back on what does that mean?
You may have a leak somewhere
Same issue replaced sound same aswell broken inside but check engine light does not go away
Thank you, you are creative
Do I have to get the check engine light cleared off my dash after or does it automatically go away ( because it hasn’t yet ) only been a couple hours
You have to get it cleared with a code reader, won’t go off on its own.
You can just disconnect to battery under the passenger seat for a quick 5 minutes and it should clear the codes
