It’s songs like these why I think metal is the most interesting, fun and surprising genre of music. If everything was dark and gloomy like Drowner of Worlds (my absolute favorite from Emerald Seas), it would get stale pretty quick. But then you also have these kinds of songs that are quirky and (probably) don’t take themselves too seriously. Like this and e.g. Two of Spades by Ensiferum to name just a couple. It’s just pure fun, keeps the genre evolving and opens up such a vast and interesting creative space for artists. Love the confidence that Seven Spires is showing here!
Metal is really versatile with subgenre, too. Like besides just regular metal you have symphonic metal which can be a mix of classical music and metal, and you have bands like Amberian Dawn and The Dark Element which do ABBA / Pop Metal. I haven't heard jazz metal or rap metal, but if they aren't out there yet I am sure someone will figure out a way to combine them eventually
