    The straight line perspective just increased my right hand treble volume. Its only taken 30+ years to accomplish lol ! Thank you Tariq !!!!

    I forgot to add...My thumb nail is fairly thick, but it erodes on those wound strings. I tried your ppb under the thumb and it’s really amazing. I never would have thought of that. Very cool. Many thanks again.

    Great video. One question about a word that you repeat: "smoke." Am I hearing it right? "The smoothness, the smoke you like." 13:30

    Hi Tariq, thanks for freely sharing your skills and your great performances. I'm a semi-professional out in Vancouver and plan to be practicing more regularly. I totally agree with everything you say, nails is so personal. If you're able to answer briefly - do you ever reinforce your i or m with a ping pong ball when you are doing longer stretches of activity? Best wishes and keep up the great work - your enthusiasm and dedication is inspiring.

    thnx for the upload. you mentioned something very important, a question that I've been struggling to find an answer for it because when I play the string gets deep under the fingernail and because of that my fingernails look too short. I'm not sure if this is a correct way to attack the strings.

    Hey Tariq, stumbled across your channel a couple of weeks ago. Just wanted to say thanks so much for your performances, your instructionals and your insights. Can I ask why you have your right hand pinky nail so long? Is there some performances that call the littlest finger to action?

    • @TeeHarb
      @TeeHarb  4 роки тому

      Yes actually, especially for rasgueados I do need the pinky nail to be slightly longer for things to work! Thank you for your kind words, TH!

    Few questions: One of my goals in nail care is to achieve uniformity in tone in all nails. Is this a goal for you? If so do find the pingpong ball under the thumb changes the character of the overall tone? Also why use a pingpong ball at all? Why not stick with the natural nail? I've seen some that use pingpong ball, but have it on top of the nail. Yours is underneath. Why (I think I know the answer, but your thoughts please)? What do you use to adhere to the nail? Super glue? Thank you kindly. Be well!

      Mine is underneath just to support the nail because my thumb nail is the thinnest amongst all my nails so it wears off pretty easily. However, with the ping pong piece underneath it prevents it from wearing off and also it gives it the desired curvature because otherwise my thumbnail is pretty flat. When filed under the nail, the actual nail ends up being slightly longer than the PP piece because we file at an angle, so the final release point of the stroke is with the actual nail and not with the PP piece, so the tone is therefore even between all fingers and thumb. Having the PP piece under also gives me the confidence that it won't fly off when playing, especially when playing rasgeuados. I hope this answers your question!

      @@Larry30102 Hey, here is some more insight into your question, a video from the fantastic UK guitarist Clive Caroll. He plays steel strings and uses the ping pong ball method. ua-cam.com/video/6LS1_PnsEAc/v-deo.html

    hello Tariq. I've got two question: 1. it'd be great you could find the time to answer: which kind of fingernail is better, with flat base or with curvature(I meant its natural shape not by filing)? 2. when we plant our fingers the string goes further under the nail, is it wrong?

    • @TeeHarb
      @TeeHarb  3 роки тому +1

      Any nail could be filed to work as long as it doesn't inherently have a hook in it as it grows, those have solutions but require more than just proper filing. When you plant, the string should not go under the nail. The nail should be presented to the string at an oblique angle as you plant on the flesh, just right behind the nail.
