Thanks for sharing! I am from Idaho and only went to Salmon for my very first time a few years ago. It is such a cool city. I would recommend the hockey rink next time you are there.
Salmon is very busy at times, have been here in the summer, lots of outdoor folks come here. There is a great breakfast restaurant here, very popular. I think its a bakery too. They may serve lunch, good food. Redfish lake is nearby, awesome camping, boating, hiking. Love the Salmon, Idaho area
I was remembering my trip through Salmon and then on to Missoula, (Lolo Creek Campground) in June 2021 so I did a search for it and found you again!! Love this area, you passed right by the campground I stayed at overnight where I met some new friends and had a great time. Your videography is so gorgeous but now that I'm basically 'grounded' I really appreciated the nostalgic trip! Sure do appreciate you, Russ! 💌
I was a sales rep in Missoula Mt I traveled to salmon every month for 26 years.beautiful country.i miss it .hope to get back this summer.for s few days
My dad grew up in Salmon Idaho.Grandpa worked in the mines in the area .I never got a chance yet to go through there as i usually go through Missoula to Lewiston .Some beautiful country in that stretch .Thanks for posting this video .
Thank you for a good ride. First time I have set back and letting someone else drive. My little dog in my avatar watched your whole vid we are ex truckers the dog and I are not the old lady she likes home to much. Thanks' again
Thanks for the videos Russ. Be following you as you go but this one is special for me as I grew up in Helena and graduated from Helena High many years ago. It’s been a long time since I drove that Salmon ID to Helena route and what memories it brings back. My folks and siblings are still in Montana and I just got back from a long trip to Missoula to visit them. Kind of like you my wife and I did a 4100 mile round trip from West Bend Wisconsin where I live now, riding down through Colorado, to see the Royal Gorge Bridge, then up to see Black Canyon of the Gunnison NP. From there to Moab Utah and saw Arches NP and Canyonlands NP before cutting up through Salt Lake on I-15 all the way through Idaho and into Montana were we hit I-90 over to Missoula. On our way home we hit Theodore Roosevelt National Park in Medora North Dakota. You mentioned in today’s video you were planing to hit ND before heading back home to AZ. If you have time be sure to stop there if you are headed there on 1-94. Well worth the view. You’d get some good video there also! Safe travels!
I was surprised to find a magnificent national highway 93 in a barren mountainous area where many cars do not pass. I have visited Idaho from Japan over 20 years ago. On the way to the Yellowstone National Park, we visited to see the Creators of the Moon National Monument Reservation, Twin Falls and Shoshone Falls.
I enjoyed the view of my hometown of salmon idaho haven't been home in a longtime. You mentioned about snow in salmon. The valley doesn't get much 8 to 9 inches. The high mountains get alot of snow and when I say alot I'm meaning feet of snow. Thank for the video.
What a great video. Very Nostalgic. Use to drive home to Lakeside MT to visit my parents. Lived in Los Angeles @ the time, went through Missoula.. That was back before cell phones!
Russ, you missed getting a good shot of Wagonhammer RV Park. We meet up with our kids and grandkids for a camping trip every summer and we stay at Wagonhammer because it's pretty much in the middle for all of us to meet up since our son lives in Bozeman and our daughter lives in Logan, UT. Wagonhammer, although right along Hwy 93 is a very quiet place to stay, and it's so pretty there in that canyon. Check it out if you're headed back that way when you head south. Really enjoying your videos!
Really enjoy your channel - especially appreciate your videos are not just continuous selfie shots, and no loud obnoxious music - also enjoy all the video on the roads - almost like driving myself
I discovered your videos just yesterday and am enjoying your adventures. I haven't been out west since traveling with my family in the 1960s. Would like to see it again but I don't travel alone.
Beautiful drone shot. Salmon river looks great. Mountains are beautiful. Probably would not be a good place when the snow will fall. Enjoy your journey. Most of all be safe.👍☕️🍩
Sir, you're doing a fantastic job. Lemme subscribe to your channel. You deserved to be subscribed. You're doing all these for us. Thanks & when I get to the US I'll definitely meet you.
I was just in Salmon back in April, even stopped in at the same gas station you did. Nice area in the summertime, extremely cold in the winter. Lots of hot springs in the area.
Man, you have really out done yourself on these videos and drone shots! Excellent work, Russ! These states have breathtaking scenery. So incredibly beautiful. Loved the ride along. 😘🐾😘
I drove through there about 20 years ago, not long after Elmer Keith had passed away. He was a native of Salmon, and a feature writer for firearms magazines. I ate lunch at the cafe across the street from Kings, which was a general home-shopping/clothing and hardware store. I remember they had a long line or old worn cowboy hats along the walls up near the ceiling nailed up there. It seems that the local cowboys would come in, buy a new hat, and leave their old one there to be nailed up on the wall. It was a step back in time, then and sort of still now. I do see numerous new businesses that were not there 20 years ago along the main street(hwy93). And it looks as if Kings is long closed. Nice trip back on memory lane, thanks!
I've been waiting for everyone of your videos on traveling Highway 93. What a great way to go! You've got me putting aside gas money to do one on ol' 93. Thanks for bringing us along. Take care.
Beautiful drive Russ .....you don't disappoint..... drone just makes a great view every time........ you get to see the rock faces beautiful .... NEXT..... Montanan next time bye
I've driven a lot in Montana and northern Idaho but there is so much to see and it would take a lifetime to get to see it all. I want to thank you for your video. If ever I get to go up there again, I would like to travel the Bitter Root area. Highway 12 from Missoula to Helena is a beautiful drive as well as 2 from Browning to Idaho. If you ever make it to Wallace Idaho, be sure to get of the interstate and check out the town and its history.
Another great video and love the small towns. Have enjoyed seeing the Salmon River as the water surely look clean. Thanks you so much Russ. Looking forward to Montana as one of my wanting to so states. Safe travels.
You excel at what you give us in both quality and quantity Russ! 👍I was thinking last night about how much more enjoyable this adventure is than having to drive around Q explaining it really isn't closed! LOL!! Looking forward to Montana too! Hope you had a great time with your friends!🌻
nice little memory ... first time seeing it snow and first ski lesson in febuary 1975 at lost trail ski area ... i was visiting salmon from los angeles where i grew up , liked the trees the snow the winter so much it changed my life direction and i moved to aspen colorado in september to ride dirt bikes and ski ... thanks for the drive thru
Greetings from South Australia, a long way away from the beautiful mountains of Idaho and Montana but had the good fortune to do a modelling trip there back in 1983 which included flying in by light plane and river rafting the Middle Fork of the Salmon River for a couple of days. What an awesome experience it was. I also returned to San Francisco in 1988 and bought a 1969 VW campervan and drove it along the coast and up the Trans Alaska Hwy to Alaska and the Yukon. So you are bringing back many beautiful memories of my three year journey in my campervan which was eventually stolen in Seville Spain (with no insurance). That was shattering and changed my life because I just wanted to drive and live in my campervan for the rest my life. The sense of freedom is awesome! I just subscribed to your channel and please do the same for me. Cheers from the Train Lord.
