I had Judith Jamison as a customer in Barnes and Noble back in the mid 90's. Liked her energy. Rest in peace. I remember seeing the Alvin Alley dancers along with my mother in law.
Wonderful interview. I remember as a kid watching the 'The Cosby Show' and seeing Judith Jamison dance so effortlessly. Graceful in her steps. Loved it. There was a bridging of the gap on that episode.
Thank you Alvin Ailey Dance Co. for gracing the campus of Grambling State University when I was enrolled. I will never forget the uplifting performances from the dancers.
Loved this interview. Long last a fitting tribute to A Ailey, with memories of the Dance Theatre of Harlem.I displayed 3 postcards of JJ dancing "cry" for over 15 years when I moved into my flat in the mid 90's. Happy memories of American dance watched in the UK is one of my fondest memories.
Absolutely loved the period in my life where I studied dance at Spelman College and dance with Pearl Primus, Judith Jameson, and Katherine Dunham. Amazing African American Queens of Dance!! And “Cry” … and amazing piece by Alvin Ailey. Thank you for sharing this amazing part of our history. It is so important and definitely important for other outside of our community to know this wonderful part of our history.
I remember during the time the Cosby Show was airing on NBC Cosby did a show featuring her as a Family Friend who casually stopped by and joins in on the the young 1’s dancing like Denice and her Friends…had no idea at the time who she was, nor the Greatness I was watching Kudos 💯💯💯
May she rest in power.
Judith Jamison, may you rest easy!😢❤
