Looks like a good method. Do you think it would work on an old solid fiberglass, medium heavy, boat rod with a very corroded roller tip? I’m worried about wrecking the blank. Thanks
@GeoffreyLawrence-et1yk: Admittedly, I don't have a lot of experience with roller guides and tips, however, this should work for you. Make sure you first remove any overwraps, if any. If you're still unsure, I'd suggest taking it to a rod repair guy who specializes in that type of rod.
Just tried this 3 times and I'm amazed. It worked perfectly! I have ruined a couple rods with way too much heat and needle nose pliers. Thanks!!!
