I've never heard this argument regarding politics as the reason for rejecting infant baptism. Would love to see a video on this in the future. God bless! ✝️🙏🏻

Spot on! We encounter the mysteries. NONE of us as humans can truly understand God except as God chooses to reveal Himself to us. We must have faith in God with ascetic struggle to properly encounter God in His Holy Mysteries. Priests and Bishops will be held accountable by God for their administration of God's Holy Mysteries.

Not only the clergy will be held accountable. We all are going to be held accountable. You received the baptism, your duty is to guard it by leading a life w/o sin. You got married, you're expected to guard your marriage and keep your vows. Priests are accountable so they don't baptise, or marry people who are not ready. But once we received the mystery, it's mostly ours to guard it.

@@johnnyblue4799We don't have marriage vows in Holy Orthodoxy but I see your point.

@@LadyMaria I didn't know how to call it in English... But the priest does ask "do you take this man/woman etc" and then he's saying what the duties of both are, for a good marriage. So that's what I meant by vows.

@@johnnyblue4799 That isn't in an Orthodox wedding. We're only asked if we're free to marry before the betrothal ceremony.

@@LadyMaria Yeah, it's been a long time since I got married... the yes/no question is being asked at the city hall, not in church. We have 2 separate ceremonies, since the state and the church are separated. I "mixed" the two of them... sorry.

In university I became friends with people of a nondenominational Christian club to meet new people. After weeks of getting to know them their “leader” sat down with me to get to know me and asked when I was baptized and answered as a baby and immediately he said well my baptism didn’t count because these verses say you have to be conscious to accept baptism. I met with him the next day after I went back to my dorm to study these things and found out in Acts that whole households were baptized. I found many other points that showed how even as a baby I am baptized in Christ but I wasn’t able to have a decent conversation anymore because of the leader’s hostility towards me after pointing out the verses that contradicted his theology.

I have a similar story. When I asked this question, I was in a Bible study with a man who was a part of the International Christian Church (ICC). I didn’t know it at the time, but they are considered very cult-like in their behavior (similar to the leader you mentioned). Thank God I did some research into the church and their leader Kip McKean, otherwise I may have turned my back on the Orthodox Church.
