To begin with, Veer Savarkar's Hindutva ideology is not based on religion. It has been misinterpreted by the BJP and all political parties in India. If anyone bothers to read about Savarkar and not rely upon vague comments and baseless criticism about him, they will understand him better.
Secondly, yes, I believe that the current Government should have been more secular. BJP is a very conservative party and that has to change in a secular nation.
Thirdly, yes, it is true that foreign Muslim conquerors didn't do much good in India, but that does not mean that we blame all Muslims for this. Also, just because something was made by a Mughal or any Muslim in India doesn't mean that we try to demolish it (example: Taj Mahal).

There is no question of idol worship in islam and christianity becos there is no description of the form or appearance of god or demigods in their books. But in hinduism or sanatan dharma, there is very very clear mention of description of appearance and form of demigods and also supreme lord, and so deity worship is strongly recommended to heartfully connect with the personal form of Lord and to develop bhakti or loving devotion.
