When I said to my self. Man, would be perfect if there was some slow motion video....than you said the launch would be in slow motion lol !! Thanks for sharing your experience in such an easy to understand way.
I'm almost done building a Vick models 1m carbon and balsa glider. I realize this plane would not withstand those "power" launches you subject those full carbon gliders to. But this will be my 1st DLG, I'm going to work on technique. Greetings from Cape Cod Mass. USA. New subscriber too!
I have watched many videos of dlg launch but I have never seen the trick with the head looking away when releasing. I really hope this helps me with my launch height. I have been throwing my Vortex 1 for more than a year now and I launch average 33 and max 40 meters and I'm really giving it all I have.
Thanks very much for your response. Yeah probably it can't go as high as modern gliders but I think there is still some room for improvement. Your launches still look much faster (and more fluid) than mine...
Pierre, I'm competing tomorrow. I have to try these techniques as I'm only reaching about 40 meters. As with golf, all the power and no technique is less than ideal. Many thanks.
Great video, even just stepping slowly I can feel the extra twist in my body. Hope knees can hold up! It seems when I watch your launches in slow motion the steps are a bit different. At 5:11 you step with your left foot first, the right 90deg left of the wind. Then twist on to the right foot, rather than hop round. In the end you still end up with your left foot facing the wind. Or do I miss-understand something?
Great videos, your the first to really explain it! Keep it up! A question: I have a 1m cheap DLG to test if i like DLGs (and now im watching your videos :D) After some throws (like 20+) my finger hurt, because of the throwing blade. It's only 5mm wide. Is it normal (like learning to play a guitar) or is my technique wrong (or is just the balde to small)? Any ideas?
I have a 1.5m DLG with a 4mm round peg which also caused sore fingers at the beginning; my other planes have a 10mm blade. Try adjusting your throw so you release the blade instead of letting it slide off your fingers.
Oh, my apologies, it just seemed a bit quick for 120fps (30fps or 24fps playback?) anyway, after commenting I remembered youtube has a 0.25x speed option, been using that to loop through your motion. Many thanks for the tutorial!
SimoWill75 in this one , I dont remember if slow mo or not are in it . but check my video titled. how to launch your dlg v2 . A lot of slow mo and much better explained
Hi Pierre, I fly a Hawk 1m DLG and I‘m new in DLG flying. When the Hawk is in the wind, it flies straight. Sometimes when I turn it, it made such a parabolic flight, I suppose something's wrong with the center of gravity. But too much on his nose or on the tail when he does that? Greetings
@@alexfpv-fpvlife4183 air speed change when you turn so you need to pilot it to make it fly flat and not make waves . for the CG , use the one in the manual
how long do you wait before switching off launch presets and how much elevator is too much? (often i'm over my head before reacting and letting go of the SF switch.)
yes, this is true. my launches are not consistent to know if it's my bad form or the plane setup or even builds. what is your typical launch deflection range mm for the control surfaces? (even if no two planes are exactly the same.)
Pierre you don't mention your launch switch. Could you tell me at what point you release because I've noticed your glider fly's horizontally after release and then climbs
phil pearson I hold the button in rotation and 1s after release the glider, I stop to hold it. if the glider go flat it s because I launch it flat and it need 5 m to begin to climb
Thank you!
Wonderful demonstration! Very clear!

Merci Pierre for your videos! I sold my Steigeisen to buy a motorcycle, but now I want a DLG again...

very very good explanations for F3K launch !
Thanks a lot !
I will try that out ...
Reminds me of a golf swing kinda I'm just now starting to explore this glider world never knew it existed
Very well explained; I first trained with an aerobie, now I'm ready to fling my glider! Thanks Pierre!
Thank you, Pierre,
I will think of your Tipps when I start training tomorrow.
Regards
Gerd
You make that look way to easy!
Great video as usual though

jajzi64 hello . If the glider is too soft you can't throw it higher.
Thanks very much for your response. Yeah probably it can't go as high as modern gliders but I think there is still some room for improvement. Your launches still look much faster (and more fluid) than mine...
wow!!!, you have a spring in your arm :), what speeeeeed!!!
Merci Pierre.

Many thanks I’m impressed.

Paul Gleeson hello, It s because when I throw I am allready in the position like if I did the first right foot step.
Great video!

Diego The Wolf hi , I think your blade is too small . mine are 12 mm wide .
If you can't replace the blade, rounding off the edges helps a lot.
I have a 1.5m DLG with a 4mm round peg which also caused sore fingers at the beginning; my other planes have a 10mm blade. Try adjusting your throw so you release the blade instead of letting it slide off your fingers.
I think your videos are awesome but maybe you should try to subtitles or more writing that should make more sub. and views
Very well explained! If I ever try DLG I'm going to start flinging a stone first haha - not my brand new plane!
Pierre, where is your thumb when you launch? Is it touching the peg / fingers or just loose?
Paul Gleeson hi , I put it on the out side on top half of the peg , it help me control when I release .
wow you make it look easy lol
It would be great if you could re-shoot this at 120fps so we could see it in slo-mo.
SimoWill75 it s already in 120 fps for the slo mo .
If you want more slo motion go check the V2 video .

hello , what do you mean by parabolic ?
@@pierremeunier it goes nose up than nose down… but in the wind it flyes straight. My Elevon ist trimmed nearly flat.

Hi,do you know how much km/h the glider has when it leaves your hand?Thank you.
I dont know , but it s fast haha
how long do you wait before switching off launch presets and how much elevator is too much? (often i'm over my head before reacting and letting go of the SF switch.)
I dont think how long I hold it but the glider need to not go over head or the amount of preset is too high

phil pearson yes I will do one soon !
Merci Pierre
wtf there is no sound I don't hear u talking so idk how these people in the comments are saying well explained I don't hear anything
Did you figure it out?
T pas français que je sache ?
si , et il y a une version française de cette vidéo 😉
