  • Depending on how you store your reference standards, did you know it’s possible for some of the analytes to fall out of the solution? This will impact the concentration of your analytes, leading to problems with your analysis.
In this Restek Tip we’ll demonstrate how sonication can be used to help return these analytes to the solution. We’ll explore how to sonicate your ampuls and also share some tips on safety.

I have a doubt can u clarify what is dwell volume
    Dead volume
    Delay volume

If we define these according to an LC instrument, the dead volume is the total volume of the system from inlet to detector excluding the column. It is the system volume that ideally is not participating in the chromatographic separation. The dwell volume is the volume between the solvent mixer and the column, and represents the delay from when solvent is mixed to when it gets to the column and starts impacting the separation. Dwell volume is also called gradient delay volume.

Thanks for video. Please, answer me: is it necessary to use deionised water in ultrasonic bath?

Deionized water is typically recommended for ultrasonic baths. It adds less residue to the bath and for cleaning applications, it is superior to regular water.

What if the material is heat sensitive? because sonication must leads to generate heat.

Certainly, analyte stability is always critical. You can manage excess heating by cooling your sonication bath for example.
