What's really beautiful about this song is the fact that Ed chooses to show two sides of love. One which can hurt and the other which can heal. He pictures it as a paradox but even though it has a negative side it still is the one and only true thing which a person can have forever.This song brings tears to my eyes. Its so beautifully written that its hard not to get moved by it.
This song reminds me of my best friend. She got killed by a drunk driver 3 months ago. Now every time I hear this song I cry.

I've never thought about photographs this way.. as something that freezes the moment. I mean, even if someone is not in your life anymore from whatever reason, looking at a photograph of both of you is something to cherish, it makes you remember how happy you were. Great song!

I cry every time I hear this song. I lost everything I had (including photographs) in a house fire last year...two months later my dad passed. My brother passed in 2009 at the age of 21 (I'm now 24) and this song reminds me of them as well as my grandmother who raised me who passed in 2013.
I am so sorry for all your loss. It is terrible. Yet you survived all that which just shows your strengths. And the photographs are the memories clicks you would always have in your mind. They are never lost to you as long as you can cherish the memories you have with them.
