We feel you with the stress. We live in Ohio but in 3 years we get to live full time in Hermosillo Mexico the stress just goes away once we are back home in Mexico.

"you live in el centro?....." lmao my local friends always complained about coming back downtown. Now that I live near the beach... different story... but always stay in the old nieborhoods. The vibe is unmatched.

Cool Jose--love your vids--great honest insights. How about your art activities--are you an artist? I have lived in Mexico back in the mid-80s...sure was amazing back then--really traditional and vibrant culture. I later worked in Guade for some time--and been all over the country...in fact, throughout Latin America. As a Canadian I just love it too much as well. You really are dead-on buddy. Refreshing honesty! Most Americans are really clueless about the environments you mention. 99% of them live their lives on-screen...as virtual avatars or 'gringos' with a dim view of the the world beyond their shopping mall noses. Now, I am planning to move and spend 6 month spells in MX likely in Queretaro...as I have good MX friends there and [in] Zamora de Hidalgo. My wish is to chill ands maybe set up a contemporary art galley/cafe...enjoy the rich social life...linked into the global village art universe. I lived in Guadalajara for years. I really like your videos, but disagree completely about fearing police in the US and trusting them in Mexico. I never had a horrible experience with them but did pay a 500 peso “donation” when I did nothing wrong just to avoid the hassle.

@Belltown Daisy It's a small area that sits in between Cabo San Lucas (party town, allot of tourists, cruise port) and San Jose' Del Cabo, a slower more traditional town. Also, about 1 hour from our state capital La Paz. Been here permanently so far for 3 months.
We consider ourselves American because Mexico is in the continent called America. So also people for Argentina, Chile, Peru, etc etc are Americans.

They were known for being corrupt in the Baja Peninsula. Curious if things have changed. I haven't been there in a long time.
I'm sure there is still corruption there and other parts of Mexico. I would still say they are more corrupt back home in the USA

I lived in Cancun everyone would ask me about narco trafficking and if it was dangerous. And I would always respond yes it is dangerous but not because of narco traffic. It was dangerous because of vehicle traffic u can get run over if your not carful or paying attention

Yes that is very true! Mexico is so varied and different much like the USA is. In this part of Mexico there are no deserts only jungle and the diet is completely different than in other parts of the country. Mexico has just as much variety or more as the USA does. Viva Mexico!

Do you think that all of Quintana Roo is dangerous or only Cancun? Playa del Carmen for example?
I would say Quintana Roo is one of the most dangerous states but with that being said it is mostly isolated to certain areas due to the high concentration of tourists and so many locals just trying to cash in on the tourist in one way or another. At the end of the day as long as you keep your nose clean you have nothing to worry about, just practice common sense to avoid being an easy target and you'll be fine.
@@JoseArteagaTravels I wanted to move to QR but I have been scared away after seeing so many horror stories related to it. Merida doesn't have any of those problems? (police extortions being primarily what I've heard/scared me about QR)
