Happy New Year MW and cheers for another gem. Love the Lodekkas, just so solid and over engineered. The advertisement for the Royal Iris on the side of the blue Atlantian, brilliant, "the socialble ship", I had a few sociable party nights on her back in the day, especially on a rough sea, you'd fall over as soon as disembarked onto the landing stage, co's you'd been shifting you weight all night to stay upright ! Nice one, dead crisp and some great action shots. cheers drive.
Cheers & happy New year. It's a real shame what happened to the royal iris. Went on it myself many a time . Even remember going to New Brighton on it when the pier was still there.
I used to love it, especially in the old green livery. It was 6d to New Brighton so we always had to do the long trek and save the difference for fish and chips. Last time I was on it must have been 1977 with The Damned, The Accelerators and Penetration! @@Merseywail
They old buses are great. Am lucky enough to be involved with 3 bus preservation groups. Great bunch of people that put a lot of time keeping these vehicles on the road
The superb Wallasey No1 and the BL in as delivered mid seventies LT livery with yellow doors this was a nice variation but on re paints double deckers and single deckers would revert to all over red ,nationals at the time were delivered in all over red as leyland wouldnt do the white stripe or even paint the entrance doors yellow LT had to do it but they didn’t add white ,as for the BLs they replaced RFs in 75/76 on our route 290 Hammersmith -Richmond the passengers abd done drivers hatted them ,happy new year mate Mark 😊😊
Cheers Mark, not much London stuff this year. No routemasters which was a surprise, but what we had was good. Apparently some booked buses didn't turn up. The Dennis arrow had to pull out by the afternoon as it kept blowing fuses. Wallasey 1 had to be jump started, which isn't like her. But it got us back to Chester without any further issues
@@Merseywail I was supposed to have gone with a former work colleague, unfortunately he had taken ill, so I planned to just walk to Chester Railway Station, but when I got there I saw some other former workmates so took a trip to Wrexham and back as well as a trip to Borras. It was very well supported. I am on the top deck front at 0:11 next to my mate in the glasses
What a shame lived in Wrexham all my life have built models of both Wrexham and Corwen garages and my father was an old tilling crosville driver we never even got to hear about this running day well that’s Wrexham for you a city a joke.
It was a charity event run by enthusiasts. The council did give permission to use the bus station, but other than that publicity was down to the days organisers. This site gives details of bus events. Not much use now but the Wrexham running day will probably be held again next year www.classicbuses.co.uk/++Events-diary.html

Very nice old fashioned buses. I got few friends who are proper enthusiasts of old fashioned vintage buses.

@@Steve14psI wasn't sure I would make it myself, had a really nasty chest infection all over Christmas. Luckily it had cleared by new year
