In the first game the camera filter and the fact that he just doesn't have very many well lit appearances gives the impression that he is purple. You could argue this is to make it easier to differentiate the original Bonnie from the Killer, but it's difficult to say whether or not Scott new the direction he wanted to go with the color schemes in the early games.
