You shouldn't give up your plan for more Ethel Cain btw, especially if you like dark elements in music. Start with the visualizers if you want so make single videos. I recommend "Inbred", "Unpunishable" and "Gibson Girl", those are heavy. The vocals on "Inbred" are sick. Maybe I should warn you that all of her visualizer videos are spot on about the lyrics so you might want to read the lyrics first. And I recommend to start with "Inbred" if you are considering making videos about single songs.
But it would definitely be worth making a single long video about a whole album, as you said :)

Be prepared though....it's an emotionally devastating album. Most anyone who listens to it in full seems left floored and speechless. Ethel has recently said her next album is gonna be way more "pop," leaning into that side of her sound. But Preachers Daughter is a dark southern gothic novel of an album. In the best way possible, but it's heavy. It's also musically gorgeous and _perfect_ headphone music. I think/hope you'll love it!

If you do listen to Preacher’s Daughter I personally recommend having the Genius pages for the songs up because there’s a whole story to the album and it helps you figure out what’s actually happening. Totally not necessary and if you want to listen and piece a narrative together yourself that’s 100% a good choice too

there are definitely some heavy topics on the album preachers daughter, there’s one lyric in the song hard times that brings to light one of the most heartbreaking parts of the story and it makes you look at the songs before it in a completely different way, she does a really good job of making the story easy to follow whilst not giving everything away with her lyrics and when there is an important lyric to the story it’s just implemented so well

(not sure if you've ended up listening to Preacher's Daughter yet, but in case you haven't) the plot is pretty complex (the Genius annotations outline the plot pretty well), but the artist (Hayden) has described Ethel / the plot of Preacher's Daughter as her "evil twin". which is interesting to me at least because I think sometimes the plot feels very cinematic and could be interpreted as being larger than life or detached from the artist, but it's also deeply personal commentary on violence and transmisogyny embedded in America + the church. it's so good. so smart. and she's the sole producer and songwriter on most of the tracks 😭

I do think the plot of the album is interesting because I don’t interpret the character Ethel as trans, but so many of the lyrics and the situations can also speak to the experience of trans women in America. Everything kind of has a double meaning or interpretation that you can flip over and look at. I love the album as a whole/concept even though I actually am not super into some of the songs… but as a whole story it really works

I _adore_ her stuff. She's a fascinating smart creative person...well worth looking into.
Her entire musical and visual world-building is almost literary in quality. I could gush endlessly....
And for every released song, she has at least one demo that's every bit as good, or better. She's quite prolific.

I loved this song, though it took time to grow on me, I do think though that other songs off the album are better and when listened to in conjunction with ‘American Teenager’ creates an amazing piece of music.

im not a fan of her album it doesnt sound at all like this song, this song is very out of place on there the album itself is a bit too dark for me, and im just not a fan of the production and the pace of her lyrics.. i love her as a person though shes so funny i follow her on instagram

Just say that you're into pop songs. Ethel Cain is alternative/indie artist so don't expect for bops. Preacher's Daughter is a concept album and it's about religious trauma, violence, and death so what do you expect
@@thecinnamonginger i understand that, and im into every genre and lyrics are my #1 thing, but im saying i prefer the melanie martinez way of doing this sort of thing where the music itself is done in a way that doesnt make me feel like i dont want to be listening to it… i dont need to hear flies buzzing around my ears and i don’t want to hear about sexual assult in detail call me crazy for that🤷🏽♀️ i was just saying the sound from the single doesnt carry on into the album also

If you didn't like Ethel Cain's artistic choice, same as mine the way I didn't like Melanie Martinez approach in music and the way she twist her dark lyrics to align in her light aesthetic. They have their own aesthetic but I feel like Ethel Cain songs resonates more for people because of its authenticity (lyrically and visually). In addition, Ethel's music is not for weak soul
@@thecinnamonginger not weak soulll😭 ur killing me right now i loved how it was going until then, i didnt say ethels music was bad or to not listen to the album i just said im personally not a fan of the album and dont like the production. I respect that you enjoy her music and i think she has a beautiful voice and she is a very good lyricist but i wasnt a fan of the lyrics on this particular album. I also dont think not coming up with a good analogy for situations is more authentic by the way, and it makes people who have actually been through certain traumatic events feel extremely uneasy and i dont want to re live those experiences, but if its in a song and benefits my emotional state by making me feel seen and not alone i love it, but just going through it picture by picture does nothing good for me. i wouldnt call that having a weak soul its just not the music i gravitate to. But again i respect ethel cains artistry and her fanbase because art is subjective and just cuz it doesnt benefit me it can still benefit others.
