If I could draw, I'd try to make a Webtoon where the characters could go from a humanoid state to their bionic state. I'd also change the story slightly, but I would try to keep the overall story. (E.g.: Keep some characters dead, and have the Makuta species be more diverse in personality) I'd love to hear your ideas.
this is so cool!! i used to be such a purist about lego ("lego should only go with lego" - and granted, there's still plenty of space for "here's this cool thing that i made within the limits of stuff officially produced by a brand"), but this is such a strong showcase to the contrary. there's just as much creativity to be found in modding as there is in "purism". another great video jett!!

3d printing single handedly keeps the bionicle side of things alive, hell Lego constraction in general i've been slowly but surely trying to find parts and sets i've wanted for years, but i also just wanna make my own stuff and 3d printing will be a life saver... once i can actually afford a printer

Wow this is just amazing! Recently I’ve also started making my own Lego pieces with 3d printing and it opened up so many opportunities for me. I was absolutely blown away by the multicolor printer since mine can only do one color at a time. Recently I’ve also made some costum 3d printed lego bionicles that I’ve designed and ever since I’ve been so invested in what the community does with 3d printing and lego. It’s almost like a sub fandom in the fandom!

My selfmoc started out with a custom 3d printed mask, until I got my hands on my fav official Kanohi, the noble Ruru in dark grey. Still, the 3d printed one remains, a nice, unique piece of my collection ^^
I feel it's worth mentioning that Lego pieces (official ones at least) are EXTREMELY precise. We're talking on the level of microns. As such, unofficial bricks, 3D printed or otherwise, carry the risk of putting official pieces under stress and breaking them. This is the reason Lego specifically recommends to only connect official pieces with other official pieces. Of course, realistically, all that's gonna happen is the official pieces are gonna loosen up faster than normal, but it's still worth noting.

As a former AutoCAD student who just got into _BIONICLE_ thanks to your _BIONICLE_ Retrospective series, just seeing fans make their own pieces for their creations is just beautiful. It's a defiant shower of creativity after The LEGO Group had long retired their CCBS molds and parts, and a sheer testament to the appeal of building and customizing an action figure using LEGO parts to achieve a character design far greater than one could get from Minifigures. I also wonder, would a _Ninjago_ retrospective be something you'd do at one point? I genuinely want to know what the 2011-2012 Spinjitzu Spinners Game was like from a _Beyblade_ fan, what made it unique in both its flaws and strengths, and the whole LEGO aspect of customizing a spinner to one's liking. Because as someone who never grew up with _BIONICLE,_ you did a fantastic job at explaining what made the toys so good without nostalgia goggles! (I do know that Tommy Andreasen pitched the whole gimmick of Spinjitzu as a means to play out battles with Minifigures, which is an interesting parallel to how the _BIONICLE_ Toa figures were large enough to fit Technic elements in them for battle play.)
I'm was planning to design variois fan made baku gears inspired in anime or comic stuff. My first prototype is the Sacred Shield from Tate no Yuusha. But the project is in standby.
Having bought one of these printers myself, it comes with printed swatches that you can use to colour match. So, I went through the process of estimating which filaments available through Bambu Labs are best fits for the Toa Nuva. Strap in, there's a lot to unpack. For codes, PLA Basic starts with 10, PLA Matte is 11, PETG is 33. First, the easy stuff; some colours only really have one winner. Lewa's Lime is best fit with the Lime Green PETG filament 33501, which needs to be dried after printing. Likewise, Onua's Dark Grey, Pohatu's Sand Brown, and Kopaka's Light Grey have great matches in 10105, 11401, and 10103 respectively. I've actually printed a shield arm with 10103, so it's verified. Lastly, PLA Basic 10801 is a dead ringer for Takanuva's classic Dark Gold; hilariously, Bambu Labs calls it Bronze. Next are the colours that are up to personal taste. Tahu's Red and Orange, Onua's shade of Black, and Kopaka/Takanuva's shade of White all have good fits in both PLA Basic and Matte (reds are 10200 and 11200, oranges are 10300 and 11300, black is 10101 and 11101, white is 10100 and 33100). The mattes tend to be more set accurate while the basics come out smoother and shine more, so it would depend on what you want out of the print. After that are matches that I can't actively confirm myself. Gali's Blue and Pohatu's Brown don't have great matches in my pack of swatches. However, there are new colours in the PLA Basic lineup that were not added to the swatch bundle that do seem to match better: Cobalt Blue 10604 and Cocoa Brown 10802. Without a swatch to check, I can't verify if they fit, but they seem closer than anything else. The last category are the ones that got away. Gali's secondary blue (called Medium Blue by LEGO fans) does have a close enough swatch match. Unfortunately, that match is with ABS 40601, Azure. ABS filaments are finicky and require enclosed printers to be used; the A1/mini are not enclosed, meaning they cannot use the filament. Lewa's primary Green (just called Green) is in a similar camp; its best fit is some middle ground between 10501 and 10502, but ABS 40500 is way closer while also being unusable. There is, however, a possible silver lining to this. When browsing through their filaments, you can make suggestions for future colours. All you need to enter is the appropriate hex code and an optional name for the colour. With a site like Rebrickable, you can find basically any LEGO colour ever used, including Medium Blue's 5A93DB and Green's 237841, then pitch that colour to Bambu Labs. If a colour even close to those codes got made, that could solve the issue. As for the silver armor and weapons, Basic 10102 is close, but doesn't quite have the same brightness. PLA Metal 13100 is close too, but looks a little too dark to be accurate. There's also PLA Silk 13109 which matches the lighter shade better, but it's a bit pricier. You might be able to colour request, but the Basic is probably good enough.
Modeling and printing your own parts is such a rabbit hole to fall down. One day your futzing with the sizing of pieces to get The tolerances right, and the next you're modeling wholely original parts from scratch because lego doesn't give you the look you want.
Heres a tip for those lose joints, put some super glue around the joint, wait like 2 seconds, then move the joints, the glue will spread and dry, and itll allow for a sturdier hold and firm joints!
I remember the first time hearing about 3d printable bionicle pieces when g2 ended and fans were recreating the mask of ultimate power and now it’s super accessible

The multicolor print give a really nice look to Karzahni’s masks as well as the Kolhii shield. I'll have to get myself a machine like this in the future. You are right. There is so many things to print to add to your moc or just for the pleasure of having a well-designed piece. This is the strength of the Bionicle community: its devotion and creativity. I suggest you to try the kanohi Kraavohkii made by Rothanak or Nikila’s mask by KhingK or Bionicle Tohunga by Circuitmanufacture. They're good vintages, and I think they'll look wonderful with that kind of print.

I'm not much for making birthday wishes, mostly because they reside in the fantasy section of my head. But this year I made 1 singular wish. I wanted confirmation that old Legos in all their past glory could be remade. Legos, Bionicles, and anything compatible with them. Technology still has a little ways to go, but the next time a brickplate snaps, or a grip socket cracks, I find I can rest a little easier. And once technology advances far enough we won't need to go to the store for Legos, we'll be able to make'em ourselves. Thanks for showing me technology's progress. o7o7o7 (o7 = salute)

I made a Lego Bakugan Mechtavius Destroyer with four transformable robots: Coredegon (tank) (Ventus) (torso) Exostriker (car) (Subterra) (right leg) Mandibor (jet) (Aquos) (left leg) Slycerak (helicopter) (Pyrus) (arms) All of this only from sets 42116, 42117, 42132, 42133, 42147, 42148 and 42163. These are the most recent $10 Technic sets. The models can be combined into a big robot. I combined Lego, Bakugan and Transformers: your favorite toys. The attributes may be wrong, but I just had those parts and went off a random image.

All you need to enter is the appropriate hex code and an optional name for the colour. With a site like Rebrickable, you can find basically any LEGO colour ever used, including Medium Blue's 5A93DB and Green's 237841, then pitch that colour to Bambu Labs. If a colour even close to those codes got made, that could solve the issue.
As for the silver armor and weapons, Basic 10102 is close, but doesn't quite have the same brightness. PLA Metal 13100 is close too, but looks a little too dark to be accurate. There's also PLA Silk 13109 which matches the lighter shade better, but it's a bit pricier. You might be able to colour request, but the Basic is probably good enough.

Modeling and printing your own parts is such a rabbit hole to fall down. One day your futzing with the sizing of pieces to get The tolerances right, and the next you're modeling wholely original parts from scratch because lego doesn't give you the look you want.
You should try 3D printing on some of your transformers figures
Did you use glue at all when printing with petg (if you did use petg)?
Only the transparent sword was PETG, and it was multicolor printed on top of PLA. No glue.

Heres a tip for those lose joints, put some super glue around the joint, wait like 2 seconds, then move the joints, the glue will spread and dry, and itll allow for a sturdier hold and firm joints!

But let's forget this little detail, your prints are absolutely amazing! The multicolor print give a really nice look to Karzahni’s masks as well as the Kolhii shield. I'll have to get myself a machine like this in the future.
You are right. There is so many things to print to add to your moc or just for the pleasure of having a well-designed piece. This is the strength of the Bionicle community: its devotion and creativity.
I suggest you to try the kanohi Kraavohkii made by Rothanak or Nikila’s mask by KhingK or Bionicle Tohunga by Circuitmanufacture. They're good vintages, and I think they'll look wonderful with that kind of print.

I'm not much for making birthday wishes, mostly because they reside in the fantasy section of my head.
But this year I made 1 singular wish. I wanted confirmation that old Legos in all their past glory could be remade.
Legos, Bionicles, and anything compatible with them. Technology still has a little ways to go, but the next time a brickplate snaps, or a grip socket cracks, I find I can rest a little easier. And once technology advances far enough we won't need to go to the store for Legos, we'll be able to make'em ourselves.
