I love that you made it a game, which totally helps an ADHD mind! And what you said about “bad” art. You really do need the bad art in order to get to the good art. It’s so true!
You are so right, we procrastinate all the time and I like the idea of putting it out there in view, because if it’s in a journal or sketchbook you can close it and put it out of your mind! We are our own worst critics, and nothing ever needs to be perfect but we are conditioned to think it should be. Also doing it alone is harder as you say so I follow others on line as much as I can, well done to you I’m going to subscribe 😊xx❤
I just purchased the 365 days of creativity book... and EVEN starting THAT is feeling daunting. I ❤ this idea... and small is far less scary. Thank you! 🙌 So glad the logorithms found you for me. And youre a KIWI! Awesome 😊 👌 ❤️
Really love this story and your work (ebook is fantastic). I love how you combine collage and linework, but I’m especially inspired to actually check in every day with how I feel and create from there…much harder than it seems. Thank you!
This was interesting and insightful particularly as a friend challenged me to do a 100 day art challenge with her earlier this year. What came up for me was that despite loving to make 'art' it was surprisingly a challenge on some days to do anything and, towards the end not every day was fulfilled. My friend found it even harder and gave up half way through which was a shame. Maybe its the expectation we set our selves that things will just flow, and is easy. Maybe for some . Of course life gets in the way and energy and enthusiasum ebb and flows. I have renewed respect for artists who plow on regardless. However, having watched you I think I would like to do another 100 day challenge this year, and knowing now what it takes I will be kinder to myself. Congratulations and thanks for sharing your work, thoughts and ideas . I thinks its great by the way. Best wishes.
Thank you for your kind words! It's not easy, for sure, and I agree it's hard to do anything everyday, even if we love it. Life does get in the way. I also experience the 'pit of despair' that we get when we take on creative projects (it's my latest video) so know you're not alone in those creative challenges! Good on you for completing it, and now you know what you can tweak for your next challenge :)
I love that people are doing these 100 day drawing challenges and making such great art but what I don’t understand is how it always feels so hard or such a daunting task. A person who wants to become an artist and get into a career in art is going to be drawing everyday of their life, their going to be in a job where they sit at a desk and draw for eight hours a day five days a week. I get that people have “real jobs” or drawing is their “hobby” but a hobby or becoming what you love to do most in life shouldn’t feel hard to do you should wake up wanting to do it, loving to do it and need to do it. Do what you love to do don’t force yourself to do something you find hard to accomplish or makes you start feeling like it’s work.
Great comments and some food for thought there! I have some ideas which I might respond in a video, but love the idea of not forcing and doing what you love. Thanks for sharing!
As a person with multiple passions, life happens and your flame 🔥 dims a bit for the things you love. You still love them and that fire still burns, but it's not always burning as bright or as intensely. It's rarely ever the hobby itself, but often external factors that are creating internal barriers or blocks. It's not uncommon for anyone, even professionals in their creative fields, to have moments where doing the job is tougher. And as creative beings, sometimes our brains are just craving novelty or a new way to express ourselves and we haven't yet figured it out so our "norm" can feel more difficult to do. Remember that even the best parents who love caring for their kids get tired and the job gets hard. Let's be realistic here.
Thank you ❤
You're welcome! And thank you for your comment

Kia ora! Wow 365 days, that is epic, but doable if you aim for a small win daily - have fun with it!

Thank you, Denise! Really appreciate your comment. It's an interesting journey to do that daily feelings check in, but worth it.
Fantastic insights and tips, thank you 🙏🏽

This is inspiring, I struggle with the same, showing up for my art process
The showing up is the hardest part for me! Hope this video helped.
