I strongly feel that Pokémon Scarlet and Violet's level scaling (or lack thereof) worked against it. People talk about this all the time, but what I don't see people mentioning is that it sort of ruins the open world design of the game - you can go in any direction you want, but to get decent level-balancing, you can only go to certain specific towns and locations. The only difference is that this time, you have no idea where they are. In my opinion, the best things about Scarlet and Violet were the characters and story. Given that the DLC is set on the other side of the world and Arven, Nemona, and all the characters from the main game don't appear in the trailer (after you get to it's location) I'm starting to think it may not even have Scarlet and Violet's one saving grace! So yeah, I can't say I'm amazingly excited. Since I already have Scarlet and Violet, and I found the best part of Sword and Shield to be the DLC, I'm still open-minded. I might wait for a few weeks and see how the reviews look
That's fair reasoning - the character really help the story in my opinion. I am uncertain as to how this DLC plays out. I'd like it to go well! But more a fingers crossed situation of thinking yeah this will be great!
