    Mother often says that her grandmother was famous for this qoute, "YINNA CHIRREN FROM DUH GULLAH RACE". I currently reside in The Bahamas 🇧🇸 ❤

    My family is Gullah Geechee from Georgia who migrated down to Miami (Homestead) with the crop picking: my momma, aunties, and uncles still talk with the Gullah Geechee twang 'cause that's all we know🤜🏾🤎🤛🏽

    Dad had recently told me we're Gullah Geechee, and I'm trying to learn more about it now. Kinda upset I went so long without knowing and that I had to ask.

    I'm a native of the lowcountry and up until recently have I been seeing more and more states added to the GGC list. Outside of GA and SC the culture rarely exists. Like where in NC and outside of North Florida where does it exist. Being from the lowcountry I've been up and down the coast and nohing strikes me as Gullah about anywhere in coastal NC, coastal NC doesn't even feel like home.

      Yep many Gullah people have Bahamian roots! This is because the first plantation owners in Charelston moved from the Bahamas and brought the Africans they were human trafficking with them. To this day, the Gullah Geechee language is most likened to Bahamian Creole.

    The true history of African Americans: around 3500 years ago the people who started the Volta-Congo languages spread from the Gulf of Guinea and landed at north eastern South America and than spread from there building the first civilizations of the Americas such as Olmec and Mayan. The African American people are an extension of those people. They spread into North America into two main areas, thro the Caribbean and into south eastern United States and from Mexico into California. Around 1300 AD they were join by a bit of Mande people but most African Americans come from the guale people that landed in and around Surinam 3500 years ago

    What does you ancestry say? And how many of your relatives are Caribbean? Ancestry can be tracked through the census

    • @unabinyah2916
      @unabinyah2916  Рік тому

      I posted my ancestry dna test a few years ago on here. If you go to my page, you should be able to find it. I also posted my genetic communities update is on my ig so feel free to follow there and see. I'm not Caribbean. Many Gullah people have ancestors who were trafficked from the Caribbean to what is now known as the Gullah Geechee Coridoor in the 1600s and early 1700s. Hope this helps!

      After the revolutionary war, the British people got kicked out and they took the slaves with them and was forced to the Bahamas. Therefore, y’all descend from black Americans via the Gullah geechee! Google is free to use same goes for Bermuda and Turks and Caicos.
