I've replaced a couple iPhone batteries with the adhesive. Not sure why they show you pulling the adhesive around the edges of the phone. I followed this on my first attempt and the adhesive broke and it was very difficult to pry the battery out. Don't do that if you can avoid it. I did cut the adhesive strips in the middle like they shown, but then just pull straight out slowly not letting the adhesive get caught on the close by pieces and don't let it tangle. Go slow and that seemed to work much better. Just pull straight out, not trying to wrap around the edges. A couple other things I learned was before adhering the new battery in do a couple dry runs with the new battery adhesive protector still on. The little battery clip that connects to the iPhone doesn't always line up just right. I found it easier to attach the battery connector to the iPhone first, then place the battery in place making sure to get it close to the top of the iPhone and pushed into the center away from the outer edge as much as possible.
The kit I bought to do this had me a little suspicious at first. I mean, €34,- for battery, tools, AND shipping? This can't be good. But it is! Quality tools! Plus extra screws! Helpful video! Nice smelling adhesives! What did we do to deserve your service?
"IF you were able to remove the battery strip successfully.." LOL. that's the crux right there! Almost broke my battery in pieces trying to mine them out after they broke.. difficult move, but made it. Thanks for the video!
🚩WARNING - MAKE SURE YOU PUT E A C H OF THE SCREWS BACK IN THE EXACT HOLE THAT IT WAS REMOVED FROM ! ! ! Otherwise you will damage the circuit board. Ask me how I know ! ! ! ! ! ‼ Recommend you make a diagram of the inside of the phone and lay each piece/screw your remove on it exactly how you removed it!
Well....I just broke my phone..when on the step when I pulled the screen, it was kind of stuck, so maybe I've applied a little more force than needed and when the phone opened, the touchID cable snapped.. Just be careful lifting the screen.
My battery's adhesive strips didn't have the fold out glued to the front of the battery, rather it was folded just underneath the bottom edge of the battery. I didn't realize this and it was only after I carefully trying to pry the battery out that I realized that fold out tab was for the battery, and not another part of the phone. At least I finally got the old battery out and replaced it with your part. It's working well so far!
I guess it is fair to say that Apple do NOT want you to replace a battery; they'd rather have you buy a new phone; in other phones I owned this was a 90 second job
My adhesive pull tab was folded underneath the battery. I had to actually bend the corner of the battery to see it (very dangerous!) and then was able to unfold it back out and pull it. Clearly Apple doesn't want us changing the batteries ourselves.
The screws are almost al different exept for the two holidng the battery connector which are 1,6mm. The screen bracket is hold by 1•1,2mm + 1•1,3mm + 1•1,7mm + 1•1,7mm non-magnetic screw. Intresting that my iPhone 5S and iPhone SE had the wrong screws attached from factory, or rather the right screws but placed totally wrong, acorcingly to iFix-it anyway. I trust iFix-it a lot more than the pressed chinese workers accuracy, that’s for sure. Identical setting on the 5S and the SE.
Why is the LCD display also removed (the four different sized screws). It doesn't look like it interferes with the battery removal. Can't I just leave it in place while I replace the battery?
Yes you can replace the battery with the display still in place ... However, you run the risk of possible damage to the cables should battery removal prove difficult... adhesive strips do not always come out as nice as these .. I’ve never had them come out like that ... If you want to try it first, and have success with the strips, your ahead of the game ... and reassembly is quicker. If your strips break, it might be advisable to disconnect the screen for easier access. Just leave it rubber banded to a box as Gwen did.
That screen-pop was insane, that was waaaaaay too much pressure. I'm really daring to do mine, perhaps I should put a elastic band on the phone to avoid it popping open too far
Just successfully replaced my battery. All quite straightforward. The only difficult bit was the adhesive strips which hold the battery snapped as I pulled them. I had to use dental floss to coax the battery out - took ages. This video is also useful: ua-cam.com/video/x9JRqocmm24/v-deo.html
Ifixits' adhesive strips break more easily than Apples original. Now I'm stuck with a battery that is glued in a bit too high up so the battery cable touches the screen assembly resulting in marks on the display caused by the pressure.
Definitely looking to extend the life of my jailbroken iPhone SE 64GB running 9.3.3. Apple got me f**k'd up if they think I'm going to $1,000 for the newest model iPhone!
The glue strips snapped as I tried to pull them out. I grabbed a pair of pliers and tried to pull the battery out. The battery burst into flames and shot black smoke out. It was very cool, but it totaled the logic board.
I'm all for repairing gadgets but surely if your iPhone SE has a bad battery you should just take it back to the Apple Store as all iPhone SEs should still be within warranty?
I completely agree with you, but it could be for people who have their own little business repairing phones, especially iPhones as they aren't the easiest of phones to repair. The business could be one guy in a little village miles away from an Apple Store etc. Just my two cents on it :)
would be nice if you showed how to install the adhesive strips. You went 75 yards here and had to kick a field goal. Go the 100 yards and show the adhesive strip install. for all those who go to do this repair like I did, When you come to the strips be careful to do it correctly. Peel the blue backing away from the strip first and adhere it to the case, with the black tab sticking out to be able to grab on to if needed years later for another battery replacement. Then peel the pink strip and secure the battery. Honestly this is the trickiest part of the battery replacement which this little tart omitted from the video, quite worthless if you ask me. I just did this repair on a 6s successfully but beware of the adhesive strips and give them some thought. Thanks Ifixit 1/2 way.
Because Apple and other companies don't make as much money when you repair or replace something yourself instead of buying a new phone or any electronic device for that matter. So they make it a pain in the ass so you would rather just buy a new phone or whatever
OMFG! Samsung, Sony, etc - Slide open case, lift battery out, put new battery in. What the hell are Apple thinking? go out and buy a toolkit to change a battery. Sheer lunacy!
Apple is a joke! Only for the non thinking user. Really they suck!!! and I own an Imac. Wish it was a windows running 10. Apple is to proprietary for me. Never again since Jobs went teats up.
Straight up my man, I just replaced my wife's I phone 6 s battery then I showed her what it required to change the battery in my s5. Apple SUCKS!!!!!!!!!

You shoud do a video showing how to close it again. Removing the screen is hard but puting it back is a nightmare.

if the phone is new you have to heat it before, I replaced the battery on my 4 years old 5c and the strip came out easy
Really Ben....... Ever work on anything before? Why would you post such ignorance?
how did you finally get it out?
🚩WARNING - MAKE SURE YOU PUT E A C H OF THE SCREWS BACK IN THE EXACT HOLE THAT IT WAS REMOVED FROM ! ! ! Otherwise you will damage the circuit board. Ask me how I know ! ! ! ! ! ‼

What’s the purpose of removing the display? It doesn’t look like it overlaps any part of the battery.
My batterie died at 70% watching this
I've just replaced one battery in iPhone SE :D
Thanks for the tutorial.
Easy to follow guide, removing the adhesive was a huge pain though.
Well....I just broke my phone..when on the step when I pulled the screen, it was kind of stuck, so maybe I've applied a little more force than needed and when the phone opened, the touchID cable snapped.. Just be careful lifting the screen.
I could repair my battery by my self !! Thank you so much!!
Ever had the battery flap for the adhesive installed backwards? We did. Made for a fun disassembly.

THANK YOU!
Wtf i dont want to open it anymore
HHAHHAHAHA
I'm with you on this one. Jeez, what a palaver.
They even have Itools for it lol....fucking apple.
lol just bought one
Great easy to follow guide. Just replaced my wife’s battery without any issues.
Yay, Gwen is back. Good video by the way!
Why would i disconnect the screen Assembly? Nice repair guide though. Thanks
it's easier to work with the screen detached and away.
it is fragile if u break screen cable you pay new screen too
Should not make it look so easy. It is VERY difficult. I'm still trying to get my connections back on and I've been at if for a LONG time.

Why no reverse assembly video? Too much trouble? Not a very helpful video and some may want to see reassembly. 👎
1:10 I cant remove that bracket. When I try to open up the whole Cable part want to come with it.....
Oh man! Touch ID is no longer working. Home button works though. Everything works great. How do I get the Touch ID to work again?
Maybe it’s the flex cable or it’s not in properly that’s why I’m scared to do it just in case I break Touch ID
my battery doesn't have an adhesive strip so how do i get it out????????
The second cable when you are taking the screen off became unattached and fell out. Anyone know if it is salvageable?
guys just go ahead and do it its not that hard trust me once you open it its super easy
wow. you are so clear and practical!!
Yes I messed up. I mixed 3 of the screws for the metal bracket. I know where one goes. They are not color coded. Any help please.?
That screen-pop was insane, that was waaaaaay too much pressure.
I'm really daring to do mine, perhaps I should put a elastic band on the phone to avoid it popping open too far
Is this the same for a iPhone 5s
What do i do if the adhesive strips are snapped? Pls help nyone

Hi,
Is the SE battery compatible with 5s?
No it is not.
the screen is, but the battery isn't
Yes and it will fit most Tesla's out there too............. ;)
Definitely looking to extend the life of my jailbroken iPhone SE 64GB running 9.3.3. Apple got me f**k'd up if they think I'm going to $1,000 for the newest model iPhone!
ios 12 made it way faster btw
i want to downgrade to 9.3.3 but cant 😭
The glue strips snapped as I tried to pull them out. I grabbed a pair of pliers and tried to pull the battery out. The battery burst into flames and shot black smoke out. It was very cool, but it totaled the logic board.
LMAO WAT
Did you not discharge the battery first?
That’s the fun of Li-ion batteries! Search for what they do when they get damaged in radio controlled cars - fireball!!
My Phone is now vibrating Non-Stop and is usless. Everything inside is as it looks on yours. Help!!!
How is this any different from charing battery in a 5s?
Barnabas Busa the se battery has higher mah than the 5s one

Very clever!
This is obviously for the future when warrentys are expired and battery's are dying, aka now I'm late to the party.
thanks so much

Good grief. and Apple prides itself on design. This is ridiculous.
Well, they never said anything about modular design.
she's in a hurry , dont know why ....would have been nice if she had shown the reassembly
Have a cover and battery that are easy to remove and replace. This procedure is unnecessarily complicated.
That's the understatement of the century.

This video has to be geared towards people working at a Battery or Apple store....geeeeesh!!
Wow. What a pain in the butt. All that rocket science just to take a battery out. Thanks Apple!!! Geeze.
Hello done it finally on my wife Iphone SE. Now I bought her on rush a Samsung A50. My wife still hate me .
A50 is a better phone anyway.
I like ifixit but why you only focus on iPhone repairing, do something about moto x style
it's so difficult, i had a Samsung it was a 2 minute job
What are you talking about? You need a fucking heat gun to open a samsung.
OMFG! Samsung, Sony, etc - Slide open case, lift battery out, put new battery in.
What the hell are Apple thinking? go out and buy a toolkit to change a battery. Sheer lunacy!
Hogs Bum are you from the fucking 80s every fucking phone is like this
Apple is a joke! Only for the non thinking user. Really they suck!!! and I own an Imac. Wish it was a windows running 10. Apple is to proprietary for me. Never again since Jobs went teats up.
I received the wrong battery from this website this sucks
the inside appears very similar to the iphone 5s
Oh i just plyed it open
That was terrifying!
عليها وجه
I’ll just buy a new one lol

There is a reason I hate Apple.
What's an SE?
OOOOHHH
You got confused with the iPhone 5S...
No that's an iPhone SE...
www.apple.com/iphone-se/?afid=p238%7CsWC69zut5-dc_mtid_20925d2q39172_pcrid_104710526586_&cid=wwa-us-kwgo-iphone-slid-
You really... are bad at jokes...
Where's the joke in your comment? Because I don't see it.
There was no joke. Only a sad attempt at one.
this is sooo insane , screw apple ..... on Android it takes 10 seconds NO Tools
probably 5 times cheaper too
ua-cam.com/video/B7Mkp3wdwu4/v-deo.html
Most Android phones don't have a removable battery.
I hate Apple.
or you could just buy a galaxy and pop the cover off replace the battery done!!!!!!
Thats too easy lol
Straight up my man, I just replaced my wife's I phone 6 s battery then I showed her what it required to change the battery in my s5. Apple SUCKS!!!!!!!!!
Android is easier
Ernest Sillion I would have used to agree with you but I mean just look at the essential phone lol!
