@@leealex24 dont forget the 2 indos, even kodai and KV and antonsen could beat him. Yes he can beat them today and tomorrow lose againts them. Anyway only VA and SYQ the real deal LSF a bit i guess
The commentator was being extra critical of lzj and I don’t think that’s very nice to hear for anyone. They can improve on that. Anytime he does something fantastic, more scrutiny is on how good it actually is and it’s judged as “okay” or mediocre as it is supposed to be expected from a player instead of just complimenting the improvement of his skills. I think the critics can give him a little bit of break and judge him fairly like how you would judge any other player. Separate his personality from his skills.
He has got skills, that's no doubt on that. But personality also defines a sportsman. He is a public figure, a sportsman who made it into world stage where many can't. He is in the eyes of the public. His actions will influence his viewers, especially those age range who are still unable to differentiate a good and bad behavior. So stop saying separate personality and skills. A prime example would be Nick Kyrgios of Tennis. A skilled youngster with many potential, where is he now ? Goner from the tennis world.
@@191Goldyou have a fair point. But focusing on this match, let’s be honest. I have not seen any single inappropriate behaviour from LZJ. He kept his composure, played patient game and came back from losing points. Yet he still received backlashes. Its only fair he let out all his frustrations after winning the game. And whats up with the commentators? Being sports commentators, its very unprofessional to pick sides and be bias. Unless you covering your own country in your own sports channel :)
As a Malaysian that supports LZJ, game 2 was painful to watch. Game 3 LZJ fired all engines and once he took the lead you could see he plays with much confidence. Props to Kodai to limit LZJ options and controlling the pace a few times, but I think what made it work was not just LZJ's offence but his sheer confidence in defence (lifting way more than he wanted to, and playing against Kodai who was pressuring the net). Hope LZJ carries this confidence to Paris and grab gold!
Lzjia proved to b a calm cool n collect player on court….sadly those watching mostly aren’t….hence they feel stressed disappointed n painful….just my 2 cent opinion
ZJ usually has difficulty when facing tough players with very strong defense like Kodai, Kunlavut, Laksya Sen etc. Glad that he has overcome Kodai this round. He has proven himself against other players like Antonsen, Jojo and even come close with Viktor. SYQ is the benchmark now that LZJ has never able to beat in recent years. Hope to see LZJ comes back even stronger in the Olympics.. All the best 🎉
What a close final! Well done to LZJ for staying strong and coming through. Another one for him and his fans for believing. Deserves a break from the haters.
The commentators should just do commentary and not try to predict and act like they understand every moves that were made.. They sound arrogant and unnecessarily critical.. (to make things worse..almost all of their predictions were wrong) Give us Gill...pls....
4:35 Lee Zii Jia's biceps 😬Lee Zii Jia's exceptional upper body strength, particularly in his biceps, shoulders, arms, and wrists, is the key to his explosive power. These strong muscles enable him to generate the immense power needed to consistently produce high-speed smashes exceeding 400 km/h
when handsome Lee Zii Jia and beautiful Aya Ohori won the Australian Open, I think it's a repeat of the 2018 Australian Open (in tennis) where handsome Roger Federer and beautiful Caroline Wozniacki won. AMAZING!!!
all of them just keyboard warriors haha. im sure many of those guys are Malaysians too, they’d rather their “prediction” be right than see their own countrymen succeed. when they’re predictions don’t come into effect, you notice they just stay silent
Was watching the broadcast and listened to the commentary. Personally, I don’t think the commentators were biased. They were doing their jobs. They gave LZJ credit where it was due in the first game. When Naraoka took control of the 2nd game, they were confused why LZJ couldn’t keep up with Naraoka and let Naraoka run away with the 2nd game. When they saw Naraoka leading 6-1 in the 3rd game, they felt disappointed because if the 3rd game was to be a repeat of the 2nd game, it would have been a boring one sided match. When Naraoka was leading in the 3rd game, the commentator said that LZJ was doing exactly what he mentioned earlier, which was that LZJ shouldn’t let Naraoka run away with a lead if he wants to gain momentum. It was not because he was expecting Naraoka to lead. To be honest, the commentators seemed to be glad that LZJ came back in the 3rd match, and they were glad to see what they called a “Optimum vs Optimum” match, i.e., LZJ at his best vs Naraoka at his best.
I concur! I thought they were quite spot on with his game 2 performance, as to his tendency to give away the second game just to come back in the 3rd. Glad he had a reset which lead him to the trophy!
I agree with you . The commentators had equally a lot fun teasing Kodai when the dude asked for medical assistance as they expected he would . Even some Kodai supporters also remarked that the commentators were mean to Kodai as compared with ZJ . I don’t think the commentators were being biased . They were just not very generous with words that would fit the supporters ( be it kodai’s or LZJ’s ) ‘ sentiments . They are not Oma Gill . That’s all .
Glad was proven wrong, awesome game by lzj, however that second game really makes my heart skips a beat haha, turns out he wanted to save his energy for the rubber game though it was against kodai which is infamous for long rally exhausting games, glad that it was a successful strategy
Is there anybody notice LZJ drop points after 17-11 with changing racquet and getting point back after he changing another racquet even thought the string is not broke.
So players when losing, asked for a time out for medical reason to break the opponent's momentum. Kodai did this according to those who watched the full game?
Naraoka is not at all improving for me. He needs to realise this that if you want to beat tall players like LZJ and Victor Axelsen then he needs to play fast and accurate both just like LeeChongWei. You can't rely on long rallies and opponents mistake only. The one thing that bothers me themost in his gameplay is his shots quality. His shots quality is just average whencompared to other japenese players like Momota and Tago, etc.. He needs to play fast like Lakhsya sen, Gingting, etc. to beat tall opponents and make them move more on court at fast pace and have good attacking shots.
Lee Zii Jia should have coasted to victory when leading 17-11 in the decider. Instead he allowed the Japanese to level at 18 all when he took his foot off he gas. Top players like Victor Axelson, Lin Dan and Lee Chong Wei would have got the job done when holding such a big lead, but not LZJ. His mental game needs to improve. How many times have we seen LZJ taking huge leads only to lose in the end. He was lucky that Naraoka smash 2 shuttle out to give LZJ victory. On any other day, the result would have been different.
@andrewcharles7873 Thats so TRUE! agree with you, LZJ should pay attention more when on leading big scores, the real legends always hold on until finished. Hope he can improve better in future, congrats for this time champion!
Another example with lin dan, when he played against Qiao Bin during the 2017 china masters, he was 16-9 up in the first game, but then somehow lost it 16-21, which caused him to lose the entire match
