ATACMS Missiles In Action.
The ATACMS (Army Tactical Missile System) is designed to hit point targets such as command posts, missile launchers, air defense facilities, communication nodes, fuel depots, located deep in the enemy defense in all weather conditions at any time of the day. The rocket launcher is an upgraded M270 Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS).
The ATACMS tactical missile commits its flight along the so-called semi-ballistic trajectory, when its initial acceleration is carried out along a pre-programmed rigid trajectory, and the whole further flight after reaching the apogee occurs in a controlled mode. The missile is controlled by means of aerodynamic rudders by signals from the onboard control system, which continuously determines the expected point of impact and issues appropriate commands for alignment with the target. In this regard, at low and medium ranges the trajectory of the LRV has a pronounced "second apogee".
The ATACMS is currently available in several versions, which differ primarily in the warhead type, command and control system, and firing range.

That second apogee that it goes through due to tail control, probably makes it very, very hard to be intercepted by Russians defense
