Linda Gary was great, I love Spider-Man TAS (1994-1998) and she voiced Aunt May in that. Also have to say I liked hearing you nearly utter an expletive 😂
Don't forget that Linda Gary had previously voiced Aunt May in the 1981 Spider-Man cartoon...before the role was recast with June Foray for Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends...:)
Evil-Lyn was terrific. One thing I noticed. Whenever she laughs, it seems the artists used Teela's face to draw Evil-Lyn's or vice versa. Because they basically look the same when they laugh.
That was because of the specific rotoscoping technique Filmation used for their character models. Also the same reason all the She-Ra characters shared faces and body types. They also reused a lot of animation cels and sequences to save money.
Actually, look again...the faces, eyes, nose, mouth are different - They used the same rotoscope animation, but the character models (and thus faces) were different! :)
The body types were similar on She-Ra, save for Glimmer...but you look at those faces designed by the superbly talented Filmation character designers...each one is different...eyes, eye shapes, noses, lips - The basic character stock movements are the same...but yeah, Frosta, Angella, Glimmer, She-Ra...their faces are all wonderfully unique! :)

It probably wasn't Linda, but in that failed 90s toon pilot for Battletoads the Dark Queen really reminded me of Lyn (voice wise), she even made a similar escape by doing a cape flourish but into a tornado instead of a fireball (an attack from her boss fight in the video game).
Yeah, that's not Linda Gary in Battletoads...but I can understand why you're reminded of her voice...the Dark Queen sounds like her from time to time! :)
This Evil-Lyn video came at a good time since two new Masterverse Evil-Lyn figures are being released. Fingers crossed that there will be another that will wear her classic 80's outfit. Meanwhile, I still enjoy hearing the late Linda Gary say "floogle mouse."
That was actually naughty editing on my part...Evil-Lyn's look out of frame is actually towards Teela...but to better sell the edit I wanted Evil-Lyn to be reacting to Stratos...hence the use of the same background! :)
All the women in He Man and She-Ra were hotness. James was there a reason why Evil Lyn in figurine form, got the fluro yellow finish and when most of the time shes seen as having a pale sometimes darker complextion? This episode is brilliant.
Glad you enjoyed the episode - My ONLY guess as to why the Evil-Lyn action figure is yellow-skinned is that they wanted to make the character stand out on the toy racks! :) - When the character was translated into animation and comic books, yeah, she was often given a pale or olive-skinned complexion - Oddly, there's a UK She-Ra comic special that guest stars Evil-Lyn...in that particular story the colorist clearly had a bad day, as on some pages she is yellow-skinned...and on others she is pale! :)
I'm working on another 50 Things About... video for a character on He-Man and the Masters of the Universe...then I need to switch it up...maybe 50 Things About...Optimus Prime...? :)
It's a good theory, especially as actors and musicians influenced the character design department - I would say that Evil-Lyn's buzz-cut could've been influenced by Lennox's appearance around that time...:)
James, any chance you could make a video on Fun Factory, and the schedules our favourite cartoons aired on that program ? I remember eagerly waiting for and watching Fun Factory on Saturday mornings. It was on Sky, I believe. It was always annoying having to sit through music videos, before our favourite cartoons started. lol
Sadly, I have VERY vague memories of Fun Factory - My family didn't get cable until 1993...and I think Fun Factory only ran for maybe one more year - I do recall recording a bunch of shows from that block as soon as I got cable...but I'm not sure I'd really be able to do a deep dive on it...:(
What's the story behind that japanese Lady Jaye on the top right (above the Superman Atari cartridge it seems). That could be the next video if there was a japanese commercial with japanese feature of G.I. Joe.
Ah, she's not supposed to be Japanese, but I CAN see why you'd think that (the artist has a unique style) - That was an illustration from an article in cereal:geek magazine issue 11, which detailed the original run of Marvel's G.I. Joe comic! :)
That point was raised before when I created the older version of this video for the official He-Man UA-cam channel...but in the script Booth has it as "floogle-mouse", which sounds kind of adorable! :)
I think people didn't like Evil-Lyn's most recent depiction because 1) her redesign was not becoming of the character we had come to know and love (see the 1987 movie for a wonderful depiction of both design AND character), and 2) the fact that in Revelation anyone could just call upon the power of Grayskull - Evil-Lyn has always worked best as a character being powered by an artifact, like the Dragonpearl - But that's just my opinion! :)
@@cerealgeekTV yeah I kind of get that, not getting into the whole Revelation thing too much , it was interesting to see her as the Sorceress and really our two favourite leading ladies were the only ones with some character development was good to see. But I will always favour the original filmation ( nothing substantial before then) as the most loved iterations of these two characters. And yes Meg fosters was the stand out performance in the film ( and she is stunning) Leany heady did a decent job. For what role she was given .

Hard to say - Though in the She-Ra episode "The Crystal Castle" Shadow Weaver does attack the entirety of Castle Bright Moon...a pretty impressive feat! :)
Oh no, I LOVE the little guy - One of my favorite animation cels I own is of Squinch from the very same episode - It's just that he was a lil' moron in the first act of this episode! :)
