My program is a five year program and I have just finished it. I am yet to do my masters (additional two years). Honestly, my classes spanned from mon-sat for the first four years with crazy daily exams, paperworks and major exams every week. Then my final year was a Mon-Fri internship 8-5 PM with classes on Wednesday evenings and whole Saturdays + oral exams and written exams every two weeks in the evenings. At the end of it all, I was so out of motivation and burnt out. It's fucking suicide.
The funny thing is that many of my korean friends in ku always say how they became so lazy after highschool graduation lol bc students usually study for more than 10 hours a day in their highschool for korean college entrance exam
in my case it aint the same ;-; in france, highscool graduation exams r too dumb(with dumb i mean everything learnt in highschool is pure bullshit like everything related to math/physics/chemistry is memorization with no purpose or any sense of understanding a shit about what we're studying) that we have to enter a special highschool after graduation to restudy everything related to math/physics/chemistry to have access to an engineering school annnnnnnnnnnd over there we study probably as much as koreans in highschool but hey at least now we have a clue about what we're doing so i don't really mind spending a lot of time truly understanding something and making sense out of it rather than doing a lot of exercises with no other purpose than to memorize the damn formulas and learn how to use them in given circumstances
Education is not learning. It's just knowing something at the right time to get a qualification for a job. Then the next day forgetting about it because it is pointless. I've never had to solve a linear plot graph since leaving.

And also, A lot of primary school students go to after school academy to learn a lot in advance(even though they are young to learn something difficult). Futhermore, most students study(actually memorIze) trivial things which isn't useful In order to go to collage.

This is both motivating and saddening. They need a better work-life balance (or, in this case, study-life balance), but it’s also strangely inspiring to see them work so hard. And the university looks lovely, not surprised they choose the study rooms over studying in their homes/dorm rooms. I also like that you can reserve a study space and get to see the layout of the room and know how many seats are available (or taken) beforehand. Kudos also for the book return system they have.

Dang the facilities for studying is so nice in KU. I really wish my uni has study rooms like that, even one floor would be nice :( Also my uni is on top of a mountain/hill so I usually just stay home when I study which is disappointing.

It's not wrong info. It is true. People don't have to be to India, to read the news. Some states are better than others, and some people are luckier than others. We won't solve any of our problems by trying to protect our national pride.

I understand your point and i respect their way to prepared, but lets be honest, what you didn't learn for months or weeks, you're not going to memorized 3 or 4 hours before, so you're only waisting your time and energy. @@dalizaurraca8598 I mean for my exams (Im 3rd year medicine) I study atleast a month in advance, and in some cases learnt some very vital things beforehand that I may have forgotten and happened to be on the test. Some people just work best like that, everyone is different.
Our school is closed by 9pm. Everyone moved to coffee shops 🙄. I studied like this when i took a licensure exam. I wake up by 9am start studying by 11am end studying by 10pm. When board exam was near my friends stay in our house for 3 day and 2 nights to have group study. We only sleep for 2-3 hours. We all passed the board exam, our motto is NO ONES LEFT BEHIND. But this got me shook because they are studying for college exams.

i have many friends from korea who complain about the teaching methods over there. Especially english. Its dreadful. Its all focused around memorizing and there isnt much influence on what to do after high school. Yes id say a large amount would consider suicide but the older generation early boomers who have worked hard their entire life are living in the slums. they tend to kill themselves more often. they really got the shit end of the stick. they barely get visited by their families because they are too busy working in what is called a bali bali lifestyle. korean culture is great and all but their system needs to change
I am a Korean who studied in the US and now I am working in the US in finance. This isn’t just Korea Uni specific. If you go to any top notch schools in any countries, you will see the similar things. I think in the US, some majors are a lot worse. There’s no mid term or final periods per se. I remember I used to have quiz or labs or research projects whenever I didn’t have any exams lined up. Thanks for sharing this though.
I am a student from Korea. I am not a Korea university student, but it is a great university. Seoul national university, Yon-sei university, and Korea university are three most famous universities where many wonderful students join. I think high school students in Korea have much more pressure than students in universities. Especially twelfh grade students have to study for Korean SAT that there are a lot of things for them to study. There is only one chance to take SAT in a year. I guess those students in the video were model students in their high schools.

Yes, they actually care a lot about your notes in school. If you were not a good student, your curriculum will not be so considered and hardly any one will contact you for a job.
holy shit. 2 in one day, 4 the day after...and here my friends and I were crying around when we had 2 in one week because in Germany there is a rule and students are not allowed to take two exams in one day and the maximum is 3 in one week. And here you are in korea and have to take 4 in one day...that's unbelieveable o.o If I would still be in school I would never ever cry around again if all of our 7 exams are within 2-3 weeks and 3 in one WEEK. This is easy compared to this...I wonder why the korean school system is like that though.

Korea has lower economic growth rate than India ,and is not even on the top 10 rich countries yet they have better technology and infrastructure.... Its time we realize the RICH in our country is js a few % of the population and theres much to do with the rest of the backward population.
In my opinion, I feel like the school system is much more complicated than we think. For example, nowadays, schools are minimizing the material they give to students to help give students a balance and a healthy mentality HOWEVER that means that some students may grow up careless to education and won’t be able to take on the stress and pressure of the real world. So whether we like it or not, we will face unhealthy pressure. But schooling systems (again, in my opinion) should be difficult and challenging YET actually find teachers and staff that aren’t short tempered and that can sit and understand what the student asks. Also, they should be able to explain from start to finish what a student should know (if they are confused) and offer any extra practices to help. As a 9th grader myself, I have teachers who would tell me how to do something but more like order me to do it that way and I have teachers who would give me multiple examples and procedures to help me answer and get the hang of the lesson. In conclusion to this comment that turned into an essay, I agree with both modern and old fashioned schooling system but in the end, I feel that it depends on each child and that one system may be a child’s holy grail and their trip to success but the other may not suit that same kid.

They study the most, but in Pi tests Scandinavian countries score higher... By making kids actually love school amd learning, by going to school only a few haurs a day and spending that time doing fun stuff.
Could you pls tell me how many units you have for one exam and how long is one unit? Are there many ppl repeating a year? Also, how many hours you study per day?
It's quite amazing they can study for long periods. I can only really do 5 hours a day (most of my classes take the morning & I like to focus on meals). Besides this, I have an adverse affect to high levels of caffeine which causes me to shake and some what feel like my heart is going to crush itself (that's only with 8oz of coffee). I also physically can't stay up late so I am amazed.
I study so hard, that they have a private VIP study room the 3 of us. Yes, 3 out of thousands of students. We even have complimentary meals & drinks. Yes, and also a comfy sofa bed. We actually over study. Averaging 18-21 hours per day.
library is much much more packed in my college (one of the old IITs) during exams. people sit on the floor if they don't find any chairs. college opens the lecture halls for students to study because there is not enough space in the library, even though it's quiet big.
four exams a day that's crazy thankfully we have one exam per day and a day off after a exam to prepare for next exam. Also it's good to know that i am not only one that's suffering
Why dont they study at home or in their dorm room? When I was at university, I always studied at home (well, in an apartment I shared with 3 other students - but I had my own room). I could have studied in the library, but - hardly anybody did. Library was really mostly for borrowing books and spending time on the internet... Also, the library closed at 6 pm and the whole school building closed at 8 pm... So there was no chance of studying at school. The lights were switched off and the building was locked. I can hardly imagine any student demanding to stay later, lol. But... every country has its specifics...
I think it depend of the person :p. I'm Belgian and most of the time I prefer to study in library or study rooms. Especially the day before the exam if I'm late. Too much distraction at my dorm and It's more motivating to be around other students

I've never heard university library closes at 6 pm. I think your school doesn't have library to study. It's for just borrowing books and using internet as you said.
everyone studies quietly in the library , you’ll be motivated to study when everyone else is doing the same . also sometimes their homes are not a good environment to study too . maybe the noise and stuff so yeap

Tahlia i think you're being very positive about it but thr atmosphere is sort of like we don't raise our hand up and ask question s and its not really learning on our own most kids go to after school academies to get extra tutoring and less freedom isn't nessciarly a good thing if it's too suffocating.

I understand your point and i respect their way to prepared, but lets be honest, what you didn't learn for months or weeks, you're not going to memorized 3 or 4 hours before, so you're only waisting your time and energy.

@@dalizaurraca8598 I mean for my exams (Im 3rd year medicine) I study atleast a month in advance, and in some cases learnt some very vital things beforehand that I may have forgotten and happened to be on the test. Some people just work best like that, everyone is different.

Our school is closed by 9pm. Everyone moved to coffee shops 🙄. I studied like this when i took a licensure exam. I wake up by 9am start studying by 11am end studying by 10pm. When board exam was near my friends stay in our house for 3 day and 2 nights to have group study. We only sleep for 2-3 hours. We all passed the board exam, our motto is NO ONES LEFT BEHIND. But this got me shook because they are studying for college exams.

i have many friends from korea who complain about the teaching methods over there. Especially english. Its dreadful. Its all focused around memorizing and there isnt much influence on what to do after high school. Yes id say a large amount would consider suicide but the older generation early boomers who have worked hard their entire life are living in the slums. they tend to kill themselves more often. they really got the shit end of the stick. they barely get visited by their families because they are too busy working in what is called a bali bali lifestyle. korean culture is great and all but their system needs to change

I am a Korean who studied in the US and now I am working in the US in finance. This isn’t just Korea Uni specific. If you go to any top notch schools in any countries, you will see the similar things. I think in the US, some majors are a lot worse. There’s no mid term or final periods per se. I remember I used to have quiz or labs or research projects whenever I didn’t have any exams lined up.

I am a student from Korea. I am not a Korea university student, but it is a great university. Seoul national university, Yon-sei university, and Korea university are three most famous universities where many wonderful students join. I think high school students in Korea have much more pressure than students in universities. Especially twelfh grade students have to study for Korean SAT that there are a lot of things for them to study. There is only one chance to take SAT in a year. I guess those students in the video were model students in their high schools.

Yes, they actually care a lot about your notes in school. If you were not a good student, your curriculum will not be so considered and hardly any one will contact you for a job.
holy shit. 2 in one day, 4 the day after...and here my friends and I were crying around when we had 2 in one week because in Germany there is a rule and students are not allowed to take two exams in one day and the maximum is 3 in one week. And here you are in korea and have to take 4 in one day...that's unbelieveable o.o If I would still be in school I would never ever cry around again if all of our 7 exams are within 2-3 weeks and 3 in one WEEK. This is easy compared to this...I wonder why the korean school system is like that though.

In my opinion, I feel like the school system is much more complicated than we think. For example, nowadays, schools are minimizing the material they give to students to help give students a balance and a healthy mentality HOWEVER that means that some students may grow up careless to education and won’t be able to take on the stress and pressure of the real world. So whether we like it or not, we will face unhealthy pressure. But schooling systems (again, in my opinion) should be difficult and challenging YET actually find teachers and staff that aren’t short tempered and that can sit and understand what the student asks. Also, they should be able to explain from start to finish what a student should know (if they are confused) and offer any extra practices to help. As a 9th grader myself, I have teachers who would tell me how to do something but more like order me to do it that way and I have teachers who would give me multiple examples and procedures to help me answer and get the hang of the lesson.
In conclusion to this comment that turned into an essay, I agree with both modern and old fashioned schooling system but in the end, I feel that it depends on each child and that one system may be a child’s holy grail and their trip to success but the other may not suit that same kid.

Could you pls tell me how many units you have for one exam and how long is one unit? Are there many ppl repeating a year? Also, how many hours you study per day?
It's quite amazing they can study for long periods. I can only really do 5 hours a day (most of my classes take the morning & I like to focus on meals). Besides this, I have an adverse affect to high levels of caffeine which causes me to shake and some what feel like my heart is going to crush itself (that's only with 8oz of coffee). I also physically can't stay up late so I am amazed.

I study so hard, that they have a private VIP study room the 3 of us. Yes, 3 out of thousands of students. We even have complimentary meals & drinks. Yes, and also a comfy sofa bed. We actually over study. Averaging 18-21 hours per day.

library is much much more packed in my college (one of the old IITs) during exams. people sit on the floor if they don't find any chairs. college opens the lecture halls for students to study because there is not enough space in the library, even though it's quiet big.

Why dont they study at home or in their dorm room? When I was at university, I always studied at home (well, in an apartment I shared with 3 other students - but I had my own room). I could have studied in the library, but - hardly anybody did. Library was really mostly for borrowing books and spending time on the internet... Also, the library closed at 6 pm and the whole school building closed at 8 pm... So there was no chance of studying at school. The lights were switched off and the building was locked. I can hardly imagine any student demanding to stay later, lol. But... every country has its specifics...
I think it depend of the person :p. I'm Belgian and most of the time I prefer to study in library or study rooms. Especially the day before the exam if I'm late. Too much distraction at my dorm and It's more motivating to be around other students

I've never heard university library closes at 6 pm. I think your school doesn't have library to study. It's for just borrowing books and using internet as you said.
everyone studies quietly in the library , you’ll be motivated to study when everyone else is doing the same . also sometimes their homes are not a good environment to study too . maybe the noise and stuff so yeap
