    Another great episode of Series 7, the total faith Spike has in Buffy ' she will come for me' as he is teased and tortured by the First Evil in Buffy's persona shows the total trust they now have in each other. Buffy proves the ultimate power of The Slayer in the fight with the Turok-Han, giving The Potentials demonstrable proof they can win.

    It’s briefly mentioned in the series how the council know who the potentials are. They have a coven of seers who can spot potentials and then they assign watchers to train them. Giles mentions the coven briefly. Kendra mentions being given to her watcher as a young child. I think Kennedy also mentions a watcher too. However, some are late calls or even not spotted until they are actually called. Buffy was a late call (it’s in the movie and a flashback in season 2) and I suspect that Faith was too. I think the First eliminated all of the known ones first and then moved on to later calls. My reasoning for this is that most of the potentials that arrive in Sunnydale are only just finding out about their birthright.

    This reaction was great! I got the biggest kick out of it and absolutely enjoyed it.
    Hope I'm not repeating someone else, but Anthony Stewart Head was so tired of listening to James Marster's accent (he told him something like he was tired of being embarrassed by listening to it! 😄) that he called him aside and said he would train him. I think it started in season 5.

    Great reaction.
    I love the telepathy scene and the whole plan to show some "hope" to the girls.
    It's ok to lose patience with the potentials lol

      @@ThiagoDragon When they first showed that scene, I was so confused, lol. I totally didn't realise they were doing the telepathy thing. It seemed so obvious when they went back to it. 🤦

    I’d be a little surprised if you didn’t pick this up on Patreon, but just in case: Buffy’s “welcome to thunderstorm” is a reference to the original Mad Max movies, specifically the second one which actually has “thunderdome” in the title. Haven’t seen them in ages and have bonuses how well they’ve aged (or not) but might be worth watching, even if only on your own time. Something else: Buffy’s “here endeth the lesson” line could be referencing any number of things, but it may be a callback to an episode in season 5. In the episode where Spike is telling her how he killed Slayers, he says it towards the end of the episode. Appropriate here since, Thunderdome notwithstanding, Buffy’s here to save Spike; he’s on her mind, so that line occurring to her makes sense. Particularly since, like Spike, she’s teaching.
    Question: have you seen any of the MCU movies? If so, how far did you get? Asking because there’s (arguably) an Easter egg in one which references this episode, but if you haven’t seen them, I don’t want to spoil.

      @@noahrobin1941 Yes, people on Patreon did help me out with that. Never seen those movies.
      I remember Spike saying that line, now that you mention it. That's pretty cool.
      MCU... I just googled that. Haha. The Marvel movies, right? I don't believe I've seen a single one. I'm not sure I plan to watch any so don't worry about the spoiler.

      Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome (1985) is where the whole "Two men enter, one man leaves." thing comes from. It's said by the character Auntie Entity who was played by Tina Turner. lol

    Biloxi's Eye states that The First trying to end the slayer line is just another consequence on the list of Willow, Xander, Anya, and Tara resurecting Buffy.

    • @noahrobin1941
      @noahrobin1941 12 годин тому

      This is only now occurring to me, but what Giles says after he and Anya come out is that the problem is that “she lives again”. Couldn’t that actually mean it was the events in the finale of season 1 which set things in motion? After all, that was the event which caused the disruption in the line which led to two simultaneously active Slayers.

    • @Buffy8Fan
      @Buffy8Fan 10 годин тому +1

      @@noahrobin1941 It can only happen because Buffy wouldn't create new slayers, so Buffy's S1 death plays a part, but The First would have took advantage of things sooner had S1 been the only reason. Something about Buffy "not living again" when it is unnatural for her to do so causes this. In other words, her S6 resurection. Buffy died in S1 temporarally and was CPR'd naturally. In S6, dark magic was involved to the point where Osiris was adamant that Willow had done enough when Willow tried to resurect Tara. Buffy had a very real, buried and become dust and bones death without the sitation of natural CPR help aka it happens in real life in S6. S1 played a part, but on its own, The First couldn't do anything against the slayer line. I cannot see S1 being the reason by itself, but S1's death and S6's resurection together do. So Biloxi's Eye stating that The Slayer living again is what The First took advantage of and still makes Buffy's resurection just another consequence of Willow, Xander, Anya, and Tara doing so. "There's always consequences to magic. Always." But S1 by itself is just Buffy getting CPR and the slayer line flowing through another.

      @@Buffy8Fan Yes, I think the resurrection of Buffy also might have established that a new slayer would be called in the event either Faith or Buffy dies. Buffy's season 1 death caused the slayer line to go through Faith, but now it goes through both Faith and Buffy. That would add another unnatural consequence that The First could take advantage of.

    • @Buffy8Fan
      @Buffy8Fan 9 годин тому

      @@JohnDoe-ls2zu I see it more that The First can end the slayer line because it cannot go through Buffy once she is the last and after all the potentials Faith could activate are dead. That's why what I said to noahrobin1941 ("Buffy wouldn't create new slayers, so Buffy's S1 death plays a part, but The First would have took advantage of things sooner had S1 been the only reason. Something about Buffy "not living again" when it is unnatural for her to do so causes this. In other words, her S6 resurection") was so important about my theory. I don't really believe Buffy can activate anyone after _Prophecy Girl,_ but if a theory works for you, go for it.

    • @JohnDoe-ls2zu
      @JohnDoe-ls2zu 9 годин тому

      @@Buffy8Fan I could go either way on Buffy's death causing a new slayer activation. It would explain why The First doesn't want to kill Buffy right away and tries to kill all the potentials first so killing the slayer (either Faith or Buffy) wouldn't activate a new slayer since all the potentials are dead.
