To think that she's the same woman who was pitted against Jayne Mansfield and Marilyn Monroe way before but she managed to outlive her rivals and somehow she shared their legacies by reminding the people of how the three of them were great achievers with an impact without being aware. Mamie Van Doren is criminally underrated. And now she's alive and well, kicking arses and still slaying. She also aged gracefully, not a trace of senility on her. If only Jayne and Marilyn were here, for sure, the three of them would've made films together to remind us how bittersweet the golden age of hollywood was.
I am so happy Mamie is still with us. She was popular when I was a teenager and I hate to lose any of the wonderful celebs of that time. She could sing, as well. Thanks so much for the tribute, Harvey.

Shes probably the last of the Iconic’50s Blondes, I met her at a magazine party in nyc almost 20 years ago and she was lovely and beautiful and friendly took pix with people and its an evening I’ll always remember!
Mamie is absolutely right about animals. They are a lot smarter than we humans think, and if you are lucky enough to get close to birds, you will soon find that they are very smart indeed. Some are smarter than others of course but parrots like Mamie's are up there.
Mamie Van Doren wasn't the first woman to sing rock & roll in the movies. That distinction belongs to Lavern Baker. She sang in the 1956 movie "Rock, Rock, Rock!" Lavern Baker was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1991. Also, Connie Francis had her singing voice dubbed in the same movie. So they both preceded Mamie Van Doren.
It’s truly astonishing, isn’t it? She’s a force of nature! It was a real thrill getting to interview her. Look at the many legends we’ve had on our show! I’m the luckiest talk show host in the world!!!
When including memorabilia in Mamie's interviews, why not give us rare shots of Mamie taken during her contract with Universal International in the period 1953-55. These shots could include dancing lessons, voice lessons, horseback riding, spreads with other hopeful starlets, shots from her short featurettes: Hawaiian Nights with Pinky Lee and Lisa Gaye; dancing shots from her enjoyable musical Ain't Misbehavin [1955] that included Piper Laurie, Dani Crayne and Lisa Gaye; between shots of the 1954 swashbuckler "Yankee Pasha" featuring Rhonda Fleming, Myrna Hansen and Lisa Gaye. These are the shots fans would love to see. We are browned off with seeing the same pictures of Mamie in one upload after another. Please give us something new.
92 is an amazing age (she looks about 50) and Mamie is so well alert and attentive to all the questions especially the way she says” well I’m nearly 100 now!” she’s had an amazing life from rags to riches in a way that she has had so many influences from jean Harlow and Mae West to starring alongside Clark gable…very very few people can say that these days …
Wow! I thought Mamie at this point in her life would be another geriatric Mae West. Maime has found the secret of youth which is THINKING young! Incredible revealing interview with this incredible woman.

Some of this interview is ridiculous. Jayne Mansfield was stunningly beautiful and had no reason to be jealous. If women were unfriendly to her maybe there was another reason for it.

Mamie Van Doren wasn't the first woman to sing rock & roll in the movies. That distinction belongs to Lavern Baker. She sang in the 1956 movie "Rock, Rock, Rock!"
Lavern Baker was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1991.
Also, Connie Francis had her singing voice dubbed in the same movie. So they both preceded Mamie Van Doren.

When including memorabilia in Mamie's interviews, why not give us rare shots of Mamie taken during her contract with Universal International in the period 1953-55. These shots could include dancing lessons, voice lessons, horseback riding, spreads with other hopeful starlets, shots from her short featurettes: Hawaiian Nights with Pinky Lee and Lisa Gaye; dancing shots from her enjoyable musical Ain't Misbehavin [1955] that included Piper Laurie, Dani Crayne and Lisa Gaye; between shots of the 1954 swashbuckler "Yankee Pasha" featuring Rhonda Fleming, Myrna Hansen and Lisa Gaye. These are the shots fans would love to see. We are browned off with seeing the same pictures of Mamie in one upload after another. Please give us something new.
The shots we used are the ones her management team authorized. That’s the way it works.
I went through puberty with Mamie Van Doren. Best years of my life.

92 is an amazing age (she looks about 50) and Mamie is so well alert and attentive to all the questions especially the way she says” well I’m nearly 100 now!” she’s had an amazing life from rags to riches in a way that she has had so many influences from jean Harlow and Mae West to starring alongside Clark gable…very very few people can say that these days …
