Congratulations for your most timely contribution in the shape of this programme Hafiz Mohammad lbrahim was not only a Student Union elected leader oh AMU who later became lndia s only Hafiz e Quran to be Union Cabinet Minster in the golden cabinet of Jawaharlal Nehru but is also the only Indian Muslim to have ever become Leader of an House of Parliament.He was Leader of the Upper House ,-, Rajyasabha when Jawaharlal Nehru was Leader of Lok Sabha as Prime Minister of lndia.Hafiz Sahab as Union Minister of Irrigation and Power was the clincher of the historic lndus Water Treaty so that the future generations of lndia and Pakistan could be saved from successive wars over water Despite all the hatred and abuse he had faced at the hands of the Muslim League and the movement for partition of lndia.. A great freedom fighter and National leader the like of which lndia has yet to see again
