I'm a big fan of the J9 series protocol droid. Aside from a unique model ghat went independent as a criminal to fund its artistic pursuits, the unit is fantastic in the saga edition RPG. There, a quirk of lore sees the droid see for a ridiculously cheap price. How cheap? Less than the cost of a DC 5 translator unit, which the droid comes EQUIPPED with.

Honestly the BB-Series should have been on here too. They are by far the most unique (and a little out of place) astromech’s made due to their innovate design.
I bet eventually humanity will develop droids like these. We will all probably be dead unless within our lifetimes scientists figure out how to extend human life. I hope there are people in that far future who are Star Wars fans and make droids in the same style as the movies, shows and comics.
Another thing I find interesting is Palpatine shutdown the droid army after the clone wars but than when the empire rises he keeps some droids active and other droid models I don’t get that doesn’t make sense to me he demonized the CIS army and droids in general
I can’t think of a model I prefer more than the humble B1. Cheap, easy to maintain, easy to upgrade into even non-combat roles, the B1 even made a triumphant return in “Star wars: Resistance. And even if that shiw itself was terrible, seeing a B1 on the good side was heartwarming.
@@jamesleduke873 but it’s significantly cheeper less cost intensive and more efficient to have droids do most everything meaning the mega corporations would not have any reason to exploit laborers. Abd the government who guaranteed the flow of labor through droids in essence can become elected in perpetuity by having droids do all the labor that would generate taxable income meaning that they could remove all taxes since all money really is is a quantified sum of labor/time and with both of those taken from droids rather than sentient beings it would almost automatically create a system where you don’t have to work for resources. Also since the starwars galaxy isn’t fixed on the planets who’s resources can be harvested I see no upper limit to the droids that could be used for this or the resources that could be efficiently extracted and allocated around the clock.

So unless you believe that corporations don’t care about making money and are literally ventures that exist to have fun messing with people then I don’t see your point. Droids do not sleep they do not require regular brakes or complain if a droid dies it’s infinitely easier to replace. There is literally no reason to use an organic being for 99% of jobs there’s even child care droids. If you think cruelty is the only reason they do anything than your operation under a false premise.

And in real life, there's a lot of tasks that could be automated, but that corporations don't because it's actually cheaper to work someone to death in a Chinese factory for a few pennies than to replace them with a robot. Just look at any news story about factories there, or even warehouse workers in North America.
Those droids would kill everyone in Mos Espa? Really? Really? Those two couldn't shoot at targets right in front of them, hell their blasters couldn't even deal much damage to a simple wall. Yet in lore those things are supposed to kill 12 AT-TE each. And just a reminder, AT-TE's main cannon is a ship-tier weapon, but some how the Scorponex couldn't even break a simple wall or hit a group of humans...
My favorite droid series are BD series and the HK and KX series. I know the HK series wasn't mentioned but I just love the design and think along with the KX series would make a major impression on others who want to mess with you. The BD also speaks for itself for being able to ride on your shoulder, hacking, ziplining and healing you when you need it.
They weren't trying to kill people. Boba took land who was claimed by the Hut. Boba chooses to fight in the city. They all conspired against him to remove him since he wasn't doing a good job. They had nothing to gain of it but being responsible to solve the mess that boba left. They paid them to assassin Boba Fett. Boba had no allies because he didn't want to save the economy. He choose his own self-righteous over the economy of his region and as result people aren't working, some get to buy things underpriced since there's no business to compete and with an economy at the bottom pricetag has no physical reason. The region destabilizes neighbour regions since his own was spice trading to distant planets. Boba was the one who indirect was killing the people by launching a monster against the people and kept things as they were instead of hiring citizen, building defenses and construct an economy. His excuse at the end that he don't think the people he defend are good enough to defend on their own and that he has all the money in the world but none to hire.

This has always bugged me about the Star Wars Universe; if droids exist, why are there slaves?
Maybe they are cheaper or Morde adaptable given the surcumstances. Also Sadists and the like are nor of the table.
