Hayao Miyazaki and Mamoru Oshii are old friends (1983~), and they have been compared with each other well.
"Hayao Miyazaki's movie is a movie that 100 people watch once,
Mamoru Oshii's movie is a movie that one person views 100 times."

Honesty I feel like I could watch both Oshii and Miyazaki's movies until the end of time. Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, and Howl's Moving Castle I've watched like 50 times each, and Angel's Egg and The Sky Crawlers literally think about every single day.

His more well known films are quite serious in tone, but Oshii has directed a number of humorous anime like Urusei Yatsura, the Patlabor TV series and the short lived Gosenzo-sama Banbanzai. He’s honestly really great at directing comedy
