I picked up one of these little gems at a local thrift shop but can not find a manual for it. Your video was a big help. Thank you.

Thank you for an excellent tutorial! I had never seen a blind hemmer before until a friend brought one over this afternoon. Spent an hour searching online for a manual, free or otherwise. No go!
I now feel confident that I will be able to thread and use this great little machine and send it back to my friend and let him hem his own pants!

Thank you so much for posting this. I have had this machine for years and have totally forgotten how to use it. The manual was good for threading, but that was about it.

I have had my Baby Lock 101 since 2005 and never found how to thread it or use it. Your tutorial is so appreciated. While I did use it over the years for drapes and other fabrics, your video showed me the proper way, with the proper needles. Thank you so very much,

I love his little machine so much. I don’t understand why they discontinued it. I make little girl dresses and use this for a “growth style” hem. Most times children grow taller but can still wear the same size. They only need the hem adjusted so I like to make a deep hem, especially in heirloom sewing. I make a 5” hem, blind stitch it and turn it up another 5” and blind hem that. I inform the mothers that when the hem gets too short just remove the first hem and another hem will be let out. IF there is a demarcation line from the original hem, I can add a decorative lace or ribbon to cover but coordinate. I’ve been doing this technique for years. I used to do this by hand and it took hours now it takes just a few minutes. Great video!!!

Since you have used your machine in the last few months, could you please make a close up video of the front of the machine running, but with the clear shield open. I have a Baby Lock BL 101 but I can't seem to get it to pick up any stitches. I think a video might help my son in law in trying to fix it. Thank you!

Oh, please that is an excellent idea! I’ve had mine for years, misplaced the manual to it. I cannot get the it to pick up stitches either. Thanks so much!

There are several tips I can suggest. One thing I do is based my hem about a quarter inch from the edge. When I put it underneath the blind hemmer it holds down the fabric but the quarter inch is loose from the edge that’s right up underneath the needle and stitches it perfectly. You can adjust with your dials the depth that your needle will take I believe these machines are straight needle. I’ve got several blind hemmers but this is not a curved needle is a straight needle and as long as you have that little lip of fabric it will catch it. Then remove your basting stitch.

Thank so much for these tutorial!! I have been looking for someone to do a tutorial on this machine. I have brought one on ebay, and now noone knows how to use it. The only thing I would have like if the cámara were more close it to the part were you thread it the machine. Thank you. Im so happy now.

Thank you SO MUCH! I have had this machine for several years. I had resigned myself to hemming ONLY straight, flat items, such as curtains. Then, I returned to hemming them on my regular sewing machine. After watching your GREAT tutorial, I took my machine out of storage; threaded it; and discovered that it hemmed perfectly on my second try! The first try was my user-error in threading the needle from the top down, instead of from the bottom up as you instructed. I wanted to work from memory. It's great having your video for quick reference!

Thank you so much for your tutorial. I’ve been looking for the manual since I bought one in a garage sale but I couldn’t find it and I didn’t know how to thread it. This video is helping me a lot but I still have problems, I’ll appreciate if someone have a manual where I can understand better.

Great tutorial Im about to buy a s/hand one If the lady will post it a very compact machine which seems pretty easy to maneuver hopefully do you think when thread changing you could just pull the new thread through like you do with an overlocker? I run a business from home so this will come in handy & save time thanks so much xx

Thank you so very much for such an excellent tutorial. I have the BL101 and lost the manual. My stitches are not picking up and the thread breaks after the 2nd stitch. Any suggestions?

Try changing the needle - make sure it is a HAX 1 SP and size 11 only, the flat part of the needle faces the top - opposite to a sewing machine

Hi - most sewing machine stores would stock these depending where you are located - the schmetz brand label them as super stretch HAx1SP

Does the machine run only when the thread is placed?

    • @sewintooverlocking8024
      @sewintooverlocking8024  11 місяців тому

I it’s not the type of machine you would run without thread or fabric, it can run without thread but I was always told never to run it without fabric under it.

Regarding the needle you mentioned, is it a standard length shank that fits regular machines? The needles that came with my machine have a shorter shank that is round, not flat on one side. My sticker is the same, and I'm wondering if a feature of the HAX1SP is a shorter length. Thanks for a great tutorial!

this machine more like a toy and is noisy and doesn't seem to be very accurate at following a straight stitch. You were all over the place with your stitch guide.
I'll stick to my Tony cm-500 blindstitcher

It’s good you have a machine you love, this was put together to help people who own this model, can’t thread or understand the adjustments. It’s purely educational, my filming capabilities are limited to an iPhone in front of where I’m working which makes it difficult at times. Thank you for your feedback
