I surprised people really thought this was good. Nobody knows what a good movie is anymore. It’s sad how much the bar has been lowered in the industry. No more classic movies you can watch countless times or atleast hardly any.

Nope, another movie where the protagonist can't fail at anything and so much convenience. Ms Lopez is a strong actress but lazy writing is once again the hallmark of a Netflix movie.
See the movie "enough", that was amazing and showed a struggle and a protagonist that has to acknowledge and overcome her own shortcomings.

Those who are JLO fans will definitely like the movie. And those who are waiting for a good and exciting movie, without being JLO fans, would do well to read some negative reviews first. Thus, assuming from the start that the film is not good, they will not have high expectations and that is precisely why they might be pleasantly surprised

I hr into the movie I checked the time. It goes on and on, it drags and while there are moments in fights, but the action really is not the best. I enjoyed the connection with Zoe, and Cruz and Lopez. I like Lopez's truth to a character who is not maternal. I liked feeling disappointed with The Mother and Cruz never experiencing their feelings for each other. I give it a 3/5.

For me what killed is the detour the movie had in the middle of the movie. At the start the movie was setup like lets take some revenge, boom it happened too quickly, and then the movie was lost and then we got a detour.
Was it a action movie? Or drama? What movie are you?
In the end i understand why they took the detour, the ending made it pretty good.

3 things that bug me about any movie.
    1. Her daughter's identity got found, how? was there a leak a mole. She didn't question this.
    2. How was it possible that her daughter was in danger and not secured before being kidnapped.
    3. How do these enemies know when and where the car would be and which road to use to collide. With, How would they have known at this case in time that while Zoe was being escorted home the enemy knew she would pass this road at this time and catch up to the car

Idk if they had shot the scene a couple different ways, but forgot to wipe the blood off. It was just funny to me

I like the movie in general. However, there is something I don't understand. How did Zoe recognize her real mother? All I saw was the mother rescued her daughter and out of nowhere, the girl just popped a question "are you my mother?". I was like how did she know??
Another scene was when Zoe found her mother's letter. How convenient!! The girl just happened to know exactly where to look. On top of that, the letter was inside an envelope which most people will either ignore or have enough courtesy not to open it. Imagine opening a random letter and it happened to be the answer to all questions you've ever had about your own mother.
To me, it's a good enjoyable movie. The best of JLo? Hardly. But it's still nice to see her back on the screen again. The girl who plays Zoe also did a great job.

It's implied that Zoe has always known (from Cruise and her adoptive parents) about her bio mother. Considering everything else the audience is asked to "just go along with," Zoe guessing JLO is the mother she heard about all her life is not a big leap. LOL We have seen this thin plot a thousand times except the action hero is usually a man. This time, the hero is a "mother." It's not intended to be overly deep or detailed. I love action movies. It is exactly what I expected. I absolutely loved this movie.

The beginning of the movie is interesting and the early action sequences were good. However, the movie started to drag, in the middle. Then JLO comes out with really dumb "woke" line of dialog saying that the only thing she could do after coming out of the service was get a job as a cashier at a retail store. I have already heard this type of rhetoric in some of her other movies about how Latinos can only be maids, can't get a college education or they have to work in retail stores. Maybe I am crazy...but that one line actually made me turn the movie off. I am not even Hispanic and I just could not hear that same message again.

I saw the movie yesterday. Very generic movie. Protecting the own child as a killer, agent or whatever, we have been seeing lately a lot. Ofc all men are dumb. E.g. in the mid the one villain had the great chance to kill her, and ofc he went for some sexual shit instead of just killing her.
We have a little bit of Leon, the professional. Then ofc the daughter drove back to her mother, get catched. How many time we have seen this?
The action scenes were not very elaborated.
Clearly not a good movie, a 4/10 seems justified, but I expected worse, tbh. :D

I'm honestly done with Netflix action movies. Always the same God damn thing, insert female protagonist "here" and make it kill a bunch of super muscular and well trained man that would realistically kill the hero in 5 seconds.

I personally didn’t like the movie 🎥. nor did I feel it was the right roll for her. Perhaps it’s that she’s been doing music and dancing for so long and the few movies she did were very different. I don’t think this one fit her. I’m very glad I didn’t have to pay for the movie.

What i honestly don't like about JLO is everytime when i watched her do few serious roles like this, why does it always feel like she's trying way too hard which doesn't feel natural at times. I don't hate her but she's very forgetful actress to me. I like few of her songs though. I think that's best thing about her.

It is nice in rural Upstate New York if you are a tourist with lots of money to spend at the tourist sites in the country/rural geographic areas. the people are nice. It is a poverty-stricken geographic area. Some people don't have electricity because Social Services doesn't help them in the ways that they should. Some people don't have septic tanks in rural Upstate New York and Social Services doesn't help them in the ways that they should or could. Social Services in rural Upstate New York only help who they want and when they want. Rural Upstate New York would be a better place to live IF New York City took over and ran its courts and police departments and Social Services. If rural Upstate New York did stuff similar to the ways that New York City does, then rural Upstate New York would financially have a lot more. If they did stuff similar to the ways that Blacks and Hispanics do then everyone would have more. More financial aid from the Federal government is needed in rural Upstate New York and also in New York City. The Federal government has to give more financial aid to all citizens in the United States and Puerto Rico.
It is sad to live in rural geographic areas because they don't do that much economic development or community revitalization. They don't make it easy for me to stay living here where I live and that is frustrating. I don't have that much family which I already sent you emails and information about. If they made things easier for me then maybe I might enjoy living here where I live but that is not what they seem to have in mind for me. I can barely afford to live here where I live. My sadness is from the poverty that I live in. In New York City I would be living in poverty too but there is a different mindset and different ways of thinking in New York City.
The large corporation that put the trailer park here in rural Upstate New York means well but the way that they do stuff in rural Upstate New York causes poverty and there are lots of empty lots and empty trailers in the trailer parks in the rural Upstate New York geographic areas because the local small towns don't like larger corporations. Almost everyone has to have SSI which is Supplemental Secuirty Income from the Social Security Administration and public assistance to pay rent and buy food and pay for transportation.
I am only one person and I appreciate the JoLo email with the lighter and happier things. I can the sadness on Jennifer Lopez's face. I can see the sadness on Ben Affleck's face. It is challenging to be divorced. It is challenging to have children. It can be stressful to have children from two different spouses together. I pray for Ben and Jen and their kids.
I am only one person and I would gladly move to be with a group of people with who I could live together or work together. Or live in a large one-room studio apartment and go to a place to work for very little pay in a larger city. I would do something similar to what Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are doing if I could.
I would go to the gym almost every day if I could. I would go swimming almost every day if I could. A would find people who I could do group events with such as book clubs and more fun activities. Maybe find an interdenominational church to go to. Licensed Social Workers who provide counseling are also in New York City too.
It is okay to documentary films about the Holocaust and Child Brides and stuff from World War 2. But I don't want to sit around here in this trailer park for the rest of my life. A lot of people ask about my prior background and I have sent information so they can verify information about my prior background. I don't mind looking back at the past and how the past impacts why we are the way we are today in the month of April 2023. The past is why things are the ways that they are now in the year 2023. But I would also like to move forward in my life and I don't see that happening yet. To me, it seems like stagnation.
I don't like living way up here in rural Upstate New York because it is like living in the bible belt and they pray to a dead man whose name is Jesus. Jesus was murdered. Jesus did not choose to die. So they pray to a dead man whose name is Jesus because why? They pray to a dead man that was murdered because why? It is okay to pray to Jesus. I am not making fun of people who pray to Jesus. People have different religions. Thumping bibles.
I lived in New York City from 1994 to 2006 and would gladly move back to New York City and stay in New York City for the rest of my life if I could. A one-room studio apartment in New York City sounds excellent to me. Why a one-room studio apartment? Because it is very expensive to live in New York City so a one-room studio apartment for a single person because I don't have that much family. I don't have children. I won't have grandchildren because I didn't have children. Unless miracles happen. Praying for God's amazing grace miracles. Maybe I could travel to Italy too if I lived in New York City. I like Italy too. I like Europe and European things.

damn if you honestly look at this movie it's just stupid... most of the scenes make no sense, all the "action" scenes are straight up stupid... If you look at the movie with an eye where you just don't care for realism, or you don't need the scenes to make sense, it's a fine movie... but if you like thinking at all while you watch a movie, it is hot garbage

Generic women empowerment movie with a paper thin plot punctuated with bland bad guys that are bad for the sake of being bad, Illogical decision making throughout, men with superior builds and equal fighting skills that always lose, and almost no character depth for the supporting actors. And if you been in the military or have even the slightest brain function capable of tactical thinking, then this movie will definitely piss you off. I love strong woman characters, Jessica chastain in zero dark thirty, Emily blunt in sicario, Jennifer Lawrence in hunger games, because they operate in a level of realism propionate to their character. But this movie ain’t it.
P.s. While I enjoyed Omari hardwick (to an extent). They made his character an absolute idiot of an FBI agent.

I mean idk if you’ve ever picked a fight with a “cartel boss” but they’re not the type to forget, this is A reason why witness protection exists.
The final scene I’ll agree with you, he should not have tossed his gun aside, but already thinking on it maybe he assumed that Mother would have had the girl sniping (if the girl running away even crossed his mind idk) .
But I don’t think it’s a generic empowerment movie, I mean the script is still ehhhh, but I did not see that death of cruise coming, but it’s about a mother protecting her child not her finding a man to help her.
Mother also constantly made use of her environment constantly to give herself the upper hand.
Also generic bad guys? They fucking trafficked children. And it’s implied that the bad guy/Lovell would have done terrible fucking things to that girl.
I don’t think it’s a woman empowerment movie first, I think it’s a movie about a parent doing whatever it takes to save their child. I’d say it was about a soldier wrestling with their PTSD before “Mary Sue meets John Wick,”.
That being said I want more female empowerment movies, they tend to have a lens to them I find fascinating, as a man.
But whatever, I don’t really think it’s a women thing more than a men having to deal with their own insecurities. Let’s be honest if this movie was called the Father and had Chris Evans/Hemsworth/Pine actor people would be raving about it.
The script is iffy and JLo definitely carried along with the actress who played Zoe with her great acting. But I feel like they struggled with giving Zoe depth. But ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ it’s called The Mother and not “The Mother and Her Daughter Zoe,”
Idk I don’t think these bad guys “always lost” they only lost once, she passed 12 fucking years before she secured victory. She wasn’t overpowered, she fucked up teaching Zoe counterintelligence/using alias, she has massive PTSD. and you could argue Mother almost got herself and Zoe killed from that wolf bite incident. Because they probably would have had more time if they didn’t enter her name in the database. (If that’s even how they found her, idk I don’t think it is but it never came into play except for separating them a bit so I think that’s how they sent a ‘smoke flare’ so to speak.
