Perfect Olm (Trio) 1+2 Easy Method

  • This guide teaches you to kill Olm without Olm attacking at all or doing any special attacks during the entire fight (If done correctly). This is good for consistent clears, or if you're going for the Perfect Olm (Solo) / Perfect Olm (Trio) / A Not So Special Lizard combat achievements.
    Relevant plugins will be posted below this post.
    General Tips:
    - How to Identify Your Tick: If you're having trouble identifying the tick for that phase, stand on the head tile until Olm's head turns towards the the mage hand. (If the head is not turning towards the mage hand after multiple 1-4 tick cycles, step to the "MAGE" tile, and then back to the head tile.) For example, if the head turns on tick 4, then your attacking tick, AKA the tick that you click to attack, is 3 (with mage). The tick for moving is always one tick after the tick for attacking. *For the mage hand only.*
    - Mage Thrall: Summon and resummon your mage thrall as needed to avoid splashing on the mage hand and to maintain head turning.
    - If you fall out of cycle, stand on the head tile until the tick you've identified for that phase comes around again, then get back into the attack rhythm.
    - If Olm spawns on the opposite side for Phase 1, go to the head tile instead and attack the mage hand until Olm's head turns towards the mage hand. Identify the tick Olm's head turned on and use that tick to determine your attacking/movement timing for the mage hand. This will be important for the melee hand movement timing too.
    - Make sure your staff is on accurate, not longrange.
    - Ring of Endurance is highly recommended for this method.
    - 4 tick powered staff is required for this method. (Sang Staff, trident)
    - ME tile is also referred to as the "Ring Finger" tile.
    - During Phase 2 and 3, at the beginning of each phase when you're waiting for Olm to turn it's head towards the mage hand, the tick it's head turns will be the tick you're moving on, and the tick before that will be the tick you're clicking to attack on.
    - The identified tick for each phase will not always be the same. It must be re-identified at the start of each phase. The identified tick for phase 3 will carry into the final phase.
    Phase 1:
    Enter & Setup:
    - Drop a restore potion.
    - Summon mage thrall.
    - Start on the "ME" tile.
    Mage Hand:
    - Hover over the mage hand and attack as soon as it’s available.
    - Move from ME tile - head tile - thumb tile - ME tile, repeat until hand is dead.
    - Click to attack will always be one tick before moving when fighting the mage hand.
    - Resummon mage thrall as necessary.
    Melee Hand:
    - Start on either the tile above the ME tile or the head tile.
    - Move between the head tile and the tile above the ME tile.
    - Attack the melee hand after running from the head tile.
    As soon as you see your XP drop, click to the tile above the ME tile.
    - Click back to the head tile as soon as your true tile touches the tile above the ME tile
    - Repeat until the melee hand is dead.
    Phase 2:
    Setup:
    - Summon mage thrall towards the end of falling crystals.
    - Start on the ME tile.
    Mage Hand:
    - Attack as soon as it’s available and run to the head tile.
    - Watch for the to head turn towards the mage side while attacking the mage hand.
    - Move from head tile - thumb tile - ME tile.
    - Pick up the rhythm like normal, kill mage hand.
    Melee Hand:
    - Use the tick you identified for attacking the mage hand as your movement tick.
    - Kill melee hand
    Phase 3:
    Setup:
    - Summon mage thrall towards the end of falling crystals.
    - Just like phase 2, start on the ME tile, attack the mage hand immediately, and stand on the head tile until Olm turns towards the mage hand.
    Mage Hand:
    - Get the mage hand to around 8% HP (Solo) 3-5% (Trio)
    Melee Hand:
    - Use the tick from phase 3 to attack the mage hand for your melee hand movement tick.
    - Resummon mage thrall right before killing the melee hand.
    Final Phase:
    Movement & Attacking:
    - The tick from phase 3 is your movement and attacking tick. You will leave either the MAGE tile or the ME tile on that tick, and when you see that tick again you will attack, when you get to the other side, you will wait to see that tick again before moving.
    - Start on either the MAGE tile or the ME tile, whichever is closest.
    - Move to the other side on your identified tick.
    - Attack on the identified tick as you're running to the other side.
    - Repeat, moving and attacking on that tick.
    - Make sure you're on the row of tiles closest to Olm (less falling crystals seem to hit there)
    - Brew through falling crystal damage.
    Main plugins:
    Tile Indicators
    Visual Metronome (Set to 4 tick)
    Monster HP Percentage [ Great Olm, Great Olm (Left claw), Great Olm (Right claw) ]
    Unfortunately couldn't copy paste tiles here for Olm room specifically. But main tiles are: head tile, thumb tile, ring finger tile, and the tile above the ring finger tile. Mirror this for the other side and that's all of them.

    Great stuff! I've just learned this myself and noted that doing 1:0 melee the next phase tick allways moves by +2. If your p1 mage hand starts with lets say with tick 2 attack, then the next phase will be on tick 4 and last phase will then be again tick 2. You can also see it in your video it starts with tick1, 3 and back to 1 and it seems to be consistent afaik

    nice vid beast what layouts would you recommend if soloing the rooms too? Is shadow running viable? Probably have to miss some ticks on the bad side

      For layouts, avoid mystics, vanguards, and ice demon. And yes, shadow running is actually better but the method to do it efficiently is harder to learn. Haven't tried it myself.
