Ever since Dungeoneering I've never really been a fan of 120 skills. I understand that I am probably in the minority on this. Even more so I don't like leveling a skills to 120 when I am not unlocking any content by doing so. Another aspect of this is seeing every skill at 99/99 was very satisfying to me and having a random 120 kind of ruined that. So I suppose that having all skills eventually all saying 120/120 would be nice. As well as having stuff to unlock, that will hopefully increase xp per hour, is a good way to approach it. I just hope they keep with this plan and we don't end up with all these max level caps that are all over the place. What would make this even better is if they added new areas for this content to exist, like menephos. As well as optional low level content training spots within these new areas.
This is where I'm at on the 99 max skills. This would give me something new to do... outside of combat I really don't train maxed skills other than dailies or needing to make something.
i was skeptical at first, but honestly im totally convinced. its exactly like they said: 110 would introduce one full new tier, which would then stay relevant for several years. if they can do that alongside other updates, it will be a lot more fun than waiting 8 months for one 120 update or whatever.

havent played in a while but I can see myself picking RS back up a bit after this. 110 is a great stop point for this because 120 is such a grind for what is typically little to zero benefits other than status
This is absolutely the correct thing for them to do as skilling is the #1 love for most of the player base. As much as I believe this is good and correct from them to do I admittedly can't shake the thought in the back of my mind that the big real reason they want to do this is that most people have hit 99's easily and have no more use or need for MTX xp. If skills go higher then people have that need again. Doing the right thing.... but likely for the wrong reasons.
If the goal was to get all skills to 120, it absolutely makes sense to do it in chunks and get every skill to 110 first. The XP gap between 99-110 is much more reasonable than 99-120 for most casual players.
All I want from smithing is that they rework the overall UI, so that I can for e.g. right click on any of the items in the window, like a plate body or whatever, and be able to select an option to make 1, 5, 10 or X. All of this having to right click open interface, select what I want, make it, then right click again, open and select, then again and again.... especially when making stuff like armour spikes, having to KEEP opening the damn thing until I have 20 unmade items.... actually ridiculous and not sure how they didn't see that being a severe issue before they released the overhaul.
I would like to see a few more skills released at once with the 110 cap. I just recently got all my skills to 111, so having more skills released with more content capping at 110 would definitely keep me more in the zone.
As of May 25, 2024 I have gotten to virtual level 120 in all skills near the end of the last DXP event. This means if the level 99 raises to 110, I can find some new ways to go for 200M all skills (5.8 billion total exp end goal)
Great vids as always. Thankyou for all great content. Here is my bit... :) When they released 120 Herby / Farming at Runefest 2019, they announced at the fest that they would be gradually introducing 120's into the game for all skills, I would much prefer they did half the skills to 120 if it takes the same time to do all the skills to 110, and released in a controlled manner. My opinion too on the smithing / mining rework they missed the boat there on just spreading out the 1-99 over 1-120, this could still be done by changing the skill levels required, then add in maybe a few new items. All up for CB being 110 then 120 then maybe 126 eventually (Just below 200m) for the future, after all we want to be stronger and would allow for making even harder future bosses (ooo'errr). However, Lvl 110 may be a really good stop gap for all of the players who are not so hardcore, and look at 120 all as being too far a reach, so caters for % of more casual players who want to push beyond 99 all etc. Cheers from Scotland :)
Honestly it's an awesome idea. I think a lot of players have a favorite skill and having a really strong reach goal in each skill that potentially helps in combat makes skillers have more access to content they possibly otherwise wouldn't have by doing something they love doing (the skill they like the most). I think it's a great idea and it opens up the design space in a healthy way so I personally hope they run with the concept of raising the level cap.
Being so close to trim on an HCIM, my heart sank seeing this. But knowing it is needed for long term health of the game, I can push through 11 more levels.
I think there’s an idea that 99 has maintained a nostalgia number. Albeit if you’re playing rs for nostalgia, you’re playing osrs. But still such an important number associated to levels in rs. Beyond that, I wonder what they’ll do to the high end tools. Like I have my augmented pickaxe of earth and song to lvl20… I really don’t want to get rid of it for a mediocre base metal pick
"Albeit if you’re playing rs for nostalgia, you’re playing osrs." What literally the majority of Runescape's entire playerbase does these days. Can't blame 'em though, RS3 isn't even Runescape anymore.
It may feel weird. But having a goal for old finished content or enjoyment on existing favorite skills, would be great. Hope we dont loose the perks for "maxing". Like max guild and such.
the new direction they are taking is amazing. We will get great content ahead and we have a bright future as RS3 players. Haven't said that in a while !
sounds good on paper but especially for the 110-120 bracket i think they need to add alot more content than just one tier of logs/bars/fish whatever, as each level takes much longer to grind out. some skills like agility & thieving for example serve no real in-game purpose as run energy is never really an issue and thieving just not being lucrative. interested to see what they'll come up with for those skills specifically. Hunter could also become very interesting if they take what they've learned from croesus, bgh and future skilling bosses and come up with something completely new. i also do hope for a complete construction overhaul somewhere inbetween the skill cap increases so player owned housing can finally see a use other than a one stop gear repair and a glorified fish tank
I am not necessarily sold on this idea. This update don't affect me, but I have one friend I play with who plays two accounts, 1 ironman, one normal. She is a lot more behind than me. I told her this update and her only reaction was "-.-" X D
As long as they release more afk leveling, I'm fine. There's too many adults who play rs now and grinding is not ideal. Slaving away shouldn't be the end game. That's not working smarter.
Agreed. Just got 99 necro last week on DXP to hit max again. Not too interested in grinding the other skills to any higher but adding new content to grind those upper levels sounds more appealing then just new max levels.
I love the idea that the level caps go up... but they're talking like most people don't already have 110 or close to it. 30k people have 120 mining (around 60k have 110), and 24k have 120 smithing (around 40k have 110). ultimately they just add a new slightly faster training method, especially if they aren't meant to compete with current boss drops. so while i'm all for it, it's just taken them a bit too long. i'd also like to see them uncap xp (past 200m xp) and have the highscores actually be a thing again, rather than just a race every new skill.
ive been grinding for months just to get 99 everything and i almost have my max cape, just need 4 more skills until max. Then this crap comes out right as im almost finished. no way im doing a full ass grind for all this
Called this one shortly after Necromancy. Though a bit of a different time span and a break up at 99 to 110, but yes they would slowly start taking all the skills to 120 in the years to come.

After all those years I was determined to max this year and I was really getting there. I don’t have much time to train. Im never going to max, my Runescape era ends here lol
This is a good way to scale up the skills and ensure a decent amount of content within it. the grace period should be about 6 months tops per skill in my oppinion which should leave enough time to get from 99 to 110 while also not having the pressure feeling spoil it and make you speedrun things just for a cape. However the implementation for this would be very important, the game world is already cluttered as is, adding another divination hotspot or type of rock/tree would only clutter the world even further, for this i would recommend to make a new continent first, far more grander in size, add the exsisting types of trees and such scattered around, and then add the newer higher tier scarsely throughout the new area. this would give a new scenery to enjoy, more space for the game to expand into, add new quests, add new minigames, move old minigames and have the old feeling of exploration and actual kingdoms again rather than a single giant city with a few parks.
I hope there will be a new tier of weapon that can be earned through some form of solo skilling content. Perhaps a solo-able skilling boss like big game hunter. Maybe something like the spear from archeology. The thing I like the least about runescape 3 is the combat. It's designed to be more complicated than necessary. The weapons are great. The way a top tier weapon is actually rare, and you can put hard to get perks and even harder to get dye for them is great. You end up with a weapon that's actually really cool to have worked for. I hope if there are new weapons they look more like the seren god bow, and not like the one that came after it. The seren godbow looks like a cool elven weapon. The other one looks like it was wielded by some fat dwarf.
I have absolutely no interest in paying 100m for bonds every 2 weeks whilst trying to pay for 8x99 in every skill at the same time. This games economy is already destroyed for everyone besides endgame pvmers rwters and merchers, this just makes literally everything more expensive.
Although I am a fan of moving everything to 120, I must admit doing so in bits like this is a safer move. It acclimates everyone and lets them course correct for 111-120 if they add bad/unpopular content to a skill. Also less content to make for skills that NEED to be updated together, like Mining/Smithing or Fishing/Cooking
If they did this sooner i would not have returned to the game 3 months ago. Nor my 5 friends. In fact we had a big discussion if we should keep playing since herb and slayer go past 99. Just doesnt feel like runescape. Whats the point of grinding skills to max only for the max to increase everytime you get there. Speedrunning burnout feels like.
@@stonic5 Sorry to hear about your experience. My sister got me back in the game three years ago after having played as a kid years ago. The game certainly felt quite different than what I grew up playing, but I fell in love with the game and came to understand that the game has never actually stood still. It's 20+ years has always meant multiple quests and new content every year. New skills coming out every few years. Major changes (some hated, some not) every once in a while. To me raising skills past 99 to 110 and then 120 feels appropriate all things considered. The game was never meant to be static. You and your friends are always welcome in Gielonor.
To clarify, not all skills will be extended to 110. Only nonskilling will become 110 and then 120. But combat skills would stay at 99 due to combat issues.
It will be, it's in the newspost You'll need to bring your Pickaxe of Earth and Song and delve into the Underworld to follow another lengthy process to obtain this new best-in-slot pickaxe - perfect for smashing away at Daemonheim ores. Although it shares the same stats as the Primal pickaxe +5, this one can be augmented, making it an obvious choice for expert miners.
WE should get a beta where you are 110 in all skills to test out what combat would be like if we had t110 weapons right now. Lets see if current t95s scaled up to t110 breaks the game ect, what can be tuned up/down
I fully expect them to half bake all of this and then we are left with parts at 120/110/105/ and 99. Just like the map is all different parts of RuneScape. No shot they will fully update everything to 120 and be uniform.
Just another tier for the extreme sweats pushing new players farther away from the game. This will just drain players for more keys and more people will stop the grind because we are all in our 20-40s most of us do not have years to play a game anymore….
a lot of people are on copium. 99-110 is barely content, its just a continuation of what’s already there. It will be a copy paste of previous content. I don’t understand why people love the idea of having to click a rock even longer now.
So many people seem happy about this. Claiming they were uncertain about the game state, only to now be hyped. It's the opposite for me. I didn't enjoy half the skills... Now I gotta go back and lvl those skills more? Eh... I hope I'm just confused.

chipping up is definitely the play. just going 120 and done means the skill is likely perma finished and youd have to come up with a bunch more stuff for that skill, most of which will either be useless and skipped or spread out and might as well be 110 anyway.

There are two new pickaxes. One is a metal pickaxe the other is a new augmentable one that will combine primal metal and earth and song.
and they said when you upgrade the augmented earth into the new one, you keep perks and levels
And 99 will still be the bad max level. A comment full of concerns that were 100% addressed in the news post lol
"Albeit if you’re playing rs for nostalgia, you’re playing osrs."
What literally the majority of Runescape's entire playerbase does these days.
Can't blame 'em though, RS3 isn't even Runescape anymore.
Im excited for the sword, interesting way of going about it with an extremely high tier weapon but without a special attack for accessibility
good thing im basically 110 all skills rn as it is :p
They sent me a survey that had a section asking if I would like content for levels over 99 and I put hell yes
same but i dont see it as a good thing. we will be missing out on new content to try out unless we make new accounts.
Number goes up. Content.
Number goes up. Entire game 🤷
If it was just the numbers they could just do it right now
sounds good on paper but especially for the 110-120 bracket i think they need to add alot more content than just one tier of logs/bars/fish whatever, as each level takes much longer to grind out. some skills like agility & thieving for example serve no real in-game purpose as run energy is never really an issue and thieving just not being lucrative. interested to see what they'll come up with for those skills specifically.
Man I was so close to maxing after being a casual for 20 years lol. I had 3 skills to go at all 99s. I hope they keep standard max cape at 99s.
they will. comp will be looked at but max cape will stay at 99 :)
What? You didn't get it after they started raising skills to 120???
I very much hoped that they will do exactly that this is really awesome
I’m so close to max cape, now I’m getting pushed back again if this goes through.
MAX is only all 99's , shouldn't change
@@xXzacatak660Xx we will see. Don’t put it past Jagex to change it.
@@SL1D3YB0Ithat's never changing. it’s fundamental to Runescape
@@SL1D3YB0I dude i would have to remax my alt army FFS lol
oof dodged a bullet here, love your content and still watching to keep informed, just not playing rs3 anymore. cant play with all the particle effects, they give me a giant headache.
Awesome vid i have 19 120s on my account in closing in on 120 cook and 120 dung
glad they are doing this since getting to level 99 really isnt too difficult now especially with bonus xp and lamps
Pog. Wake up in year 2030, all 30 skills at 120 with a total level of 3600, living the runescape dream. :p
30 if there is another new skill by then, at least.
and this happens right after i've just maxed?!?!?!
You wont lose the max cape. 110 Skill prob will be on comp cape like current 120s does.
Maxing is just a tutorial.
This is great. The last few 120 skills felt so empty, even 120 slayer, so this really seems like they'll be able to flesh things out a lot better.
They should release a high level city at all 99 req to enter.
Interesting I just got 110 smithing. Ill wait and go for 120 sometime after the update. I try to plan out my next 120s but this changes everything.
My premier membership just renewed yesterday, I haven't even touched any of the old quest yet lol
I am 100% here for this, I’m already 120 in most skills and lowest level is 110 prayer thanks to that master max cape existing 😅
Very smart. 2 skills at 110 instead of another mad rush to the 1 new 120(?)
That's a good idea any time of day!
I love this, can't wait for it to come. I allready have 200m in mining and smithing, but still i will give it a big try. Makes me wonder if i should continue my grind with wc for now?
I'm curious to see how they plan to handle some of these skills, like agility. Agility has been needing a rework/repurpose for a long time.
Man im not done being happy im maxxed dammit
I capped max YESTERDAY DAMMIT.
MY ACCOUNT TURNS 20 THIS OCTOBER
BAHHHHHHHHHH 😭😭😭😭😭
@@AArdW01f I have 3 skills to go for all 99s, my account is 20 this year too.. lol
Maxxed is all 99s though? Hello? That's not gonna change? Fuck I swear this community is so dense
@@InTheMindOfficial If they put the physical levels up, then 99 wouldnt be max. Are you slow lol? Did you upvote yourself by accident during your angry rage?
@@OneTwoMark riiiiiight oh silly me! I forgot! You have to have 120 in all the skills that actually go to 120 in order to get the max cape! Oh... wait.
I knew I was right to focus on real 120s like herblore, slayer, dung, arch etc and not go for virtual 120s. It all paid off :) I’m really excited to see how runecrafting would go up to 110
100% excited for this. Cant wait to see the new fish!
last dxp just happened and i finished re 120 maxing.. i know they will up all the skill levels eventually
After all those years I was determined to max this year and I was really getting there. I don’t have much time to train. Im never going to max, my Runescape era ends here lol
I'm pretty sure they said max will still be 99. You should still get your cape this year
I'm a believer of "standing still means going backwards"!
So, go forth, Jagex, go forth!
This is a good way to scale up the skills and ensure a decent amount of content within it. the grace period should be about 6 months tops per skill in my oppinion which should leave enough time to get from 99 to 110 while also not having the pressure feeling spoil it and make you speedrun things just for a cape.
However the implementation for this would be very important, the game world is already cluttered as is, adding another divination hotspot or type of rock/tree would only clutter the world even further, for this i would recommend to make a new continent first, far more grander in size, add the exsisting types of trees and such scattered around, and then add the newer higher tier scarsely throughout the new area. this would give a new scenery to enjoy, more space for the game to expand into, add new quests, add new minigames, move old minigames and have the old feeling of exploration and actual kingdoms again rather than a single giant city with a few parks.
man i'd laugh if they decided to do a 200m cape for all players that 200m in everything after hitting 120
Very interested in how they are going to go about this big change!
Four of my skills are 115+, the others are already 120. But I'm still curious to find out what new content will be added to the skills.
i'm surprised they didn't do this sooner
Goodwill now, but still anticipating getting disappointed with Mtx dumps at their last quarter of the year.
Finally, motivation to level the skills that aren't currently supported beyond 99
Extra 2-3 years of people buying keys, lamps, proteans and stars lol😂
Looks like I have a reason to start grinding up my sub 110's now :D
But still trying to push through to 120 necro first... >.
Love the video, thank you protoxx and thank you jagex.
so if im at 200m xp on my skills does that mean ill automatically be 110 when they do the update?
As someone who prefers skills to combat i am delighted
*hidden levels* they still have buffs and benafits it just doesn't go in the hs x6543
To clarify, not all skills will be extended to 110. Only nonskilling will become 110 and then 120. But combat skills would stay at 99 due to combat issues.
I just want my pickaxe of earth and song to be a critical part in making the best in slot pickaxe for the future.
It will be, it's in the newspost
You'll need to bring your Pickaxe of Earth and Song and delve into the Underworld to follow another lengthy process to obtain this new best-in-slot pickaxe - perfect for smashing away at Daemonheim ores. Although it shares the same stats as the Primal pickaxe +5, this one can be augmented, making it an obvious choice for expert miners.
WE should get a beta where you are 110 in all skills to test out what combat would be like if we had t110 weapons right now. Lets see if current t95s scaled up to t110 breaks the game ect, what can be tuned up/down
Did they say anything at all if theyre going to make Lvl 110 capes?
Can't see them doing with 120 capes being a thing but it's entirely possible
I fully expect them to half bake all of this and then we are left with parts at 120/110/105/ and 99. Just like the map is all different parts of RuneScape. No shot they will fully update everything to 120 and be uniform.
I knew something like this was coming one day. I'm not sure how I feel, though.
Just another tier for the extreme sweats pushing new players farther away from the game. This will just drain players for more keys and more people will stop the grind because we are all in our 20-40s most of us do not have years to play a game anymore….
I only play on an iron man account because I don't know anything about keys.
a lot of people are on copium. 99-110 is barely content, its just a continuation of what’s already there. It will be a copy paste of previous content. I don’t understand why people love the idea of having to click a rock even longer now.
Someone didn't even try to listen to the video....
Too many years to get 99, and now this, is cool but idk ... Same thing agaim and again
While I don't mind changing the skill level cap, I sincerely hope it won't mess the HiScores. ❤
All my skills are 120 or near 120 except attack or strength which ill work on later this year
Working on comp atm
So many people seem happy about this. Claiming they were uncertain about the game state, only to now be hyped.
It's the opposite for me. I didn't enjoy half the skills... Now I gotta go back and lvl those skills more? Eh... I hope I'm just confused.
* laughs in 200m everything *
*laughs in 200m everything with you*
get a life bro
@@Kerttis dont fall vicitim to stereotypes, i believe in you!
No one cares about your stats but you
I'm in the same boat 200m all so this isn't too bad for me. I haven't played a ton lately, but it will be fun to come back and make some new stuff lol. I like I make things over buying them when I can
i really wish they would update the tick rate on this game.. 15k hours 3k total 2b total exp and the only thing stopping me from playing it anymore is the tick rate doesnt match with the new combat system IMO.
chipping up is definitely the play. just going 120 and done means the skill is likely perma finished and youd have to come up with a bunch more stuff for that skill, most of which will either be useless and skipped or spread out and might as well be 110 anyway.
As a 5.8b player I'm completely fine with this. I'll be able to experience the content immediately anyways, and I completely agree two 110's is far better than one 120.
No! I’m like 6 cooking levels away from an artisan cape. I’m gonna have to start over! 😭
