  • During my first time hearing Beast In Black's Yannis Papadopoulos, I knew it wouldn't be the last. Reading through your comments on the last video, so many were recommending this cover, I just couldn't wait. I am very familiar with Ghost Love Score now, but to hear Yannis sound like Floor Jansen? This I have to see.
Join professional opera singer Elizabeth Zharoff, as she listens to Yannis Papadopoulos cover Nightwish's "Ghost Love Score" for the first time.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I absolutely love how Elizabeth brings an almost childlike wonder to a lot of these reactions. And the fact she really seems to get into these songs whatever the genre. I only found Beast in Black relatively recently and I was hooked from the first song. Which was, unsurprisingly, Blind and Frozen. Although the first time I heard it I was convinced Brittney Slays from Unleash the Archers was on vocals 🙄

The lead singers of these bands are/were phenomenal. Especially "Mili" and "Midnight"(RIP) back in their prime they were out of this world. Please check out JARKKO AHOLA. He's a Finnish originally metal singer, as great or even better than Marko. There's high quality videos of him singing Walking in the air both live and recording. Also him singing Nessun dorma live on a Finnish TV-show. All my fellow Finns, please like this comment! 😄

Sometime, i go and rewatch a bunch of reactions to popular songs just to try to refeel that moment i discovered the song for the 1st time, this is how i discovered your channel and this Nightwish song. Well as a 30 yo smoking since 10 years, i still pull this out without warm up whenever i hear it just for the challenge. Sure, aging and smoking made hit hurt a bit more but it's still here, and after 10 years of trying to form a band around a power voice, i'm here annoying by neighbourhood with karaokes on my computer

Holy mother.. Listened to so many GLS reactions and then this one comes up! Allowing me to not simply listen but really experience the initial thrill of GLS all over again?!! And then the experience gets amplified by seeing Ms Charismatic being overwhelmed by Yannis' mastery. Wow, this is a very special morning coffee treat, for which I'm very, very grateful.
So thank you Tuomas, thank you Elizabeth and thank YOU Yannis! That's some massive vocal bravery you got to choose the same key. A good vocalist would have achieved a very decent cover which would however have constantly reminded me of Floor's stellar Wacken delivery. But you pulled the Floor grab, took the song and made it your own.
And with that, you gifted me as a listener a fresh experience of Tuomas' masterpiece. So ty again & cheers from Amsterdam

Would love to see you react to Poets of the Fall - Carnival of Rust (their most well known song and the music video got voted as the best Finnish music video ever back in 2006 when the song was released). Truly an underrated band from here in Finland. Also a band with many different sounds all the way from slow melodic songs to full on rock.
Although if you want to immediately hear a song that showcases how crazy good the lead singer Marko Saaresto's voice can be (and while his vocal range might not be the most dynamic out there he is an amazing example of what you can achieve by having absolutely perfect control of your vocals especially the raw emotion that his voice is able to convey) then i recommend listening to their song Daze. His vocals on the chorus are something out of this world.
I just think that so many more people would love their music if they just ever heard them but since their from Finland it rarely happens. Although many have heard their songs in Remedy's video games Max Payne 2, Alan Wake, Quantum Brake and Control
(Also every single reactor i have seen reacting to them has been pretty much blown away by their music so i'm very confident you'll like it)
also... also... lot's of deep and meaningful lyrics and wordplay in their songs
sorry for the long rant i just really want more people to know about them :D

I'm not sure why, I mean, Mrs. Zharoff is only listening to the 7,547, 691.3 people who mentioned this cover in the chat and comments for the "Blind and Frozen" reaction. It's an impressive cover of a song that a) Is as challenging for a dude to sing as pronouncing Yannis' last name and b) May have been Elizabeth's gateway drug into metal. Should be fascinating! I hope E checks out some newer Beast in Black at some point as songs like Midnight Rendezvous and One Night in Tokyo will make her want to dance and headbang simultaneously.

I have two recomendations. Lost Horizon - Highlander (The One): this song is the holy grail of power metal vocally speaking, also is if not the most surely is in top 5 of the Greatest Epic Metal songs. Daniel Heinman has an incredible vocal range. The other recomendation is from Ex Libris - The Exile this band is more Progessive Metal, the singer is Dianne van Giersbergen who is an opera singer, her voice always give me goose bumps specially in this song the way she gives emotion to the lyrics is very dramatic and unique. Another great but very underrated singer.
