    i just bought an OUDE 4L (left handed). my tourist oud was good to learn on, but the friction pegs drive me crazy; and the huge bowl is hard to hold in place. i can't wait. i got a lot of quartertone guitar experience on top of my tourist oud. i will need to do a lot of intonation practice for sure.

    I've been very impressed with your presentation and other videos. I'm sorry to say I am disappointed in this one. You don't give any information about ouds, differences, or how to find them or choose. You just say 'don't worry, buy mine, I've taken care of everything'. I want to trust that you are right, but you are reselling another reseller's Turkish factory ouds, and that's what all salesmen say. I now have a nice oud, but it took years of research, and also buying a Turkish factory student oud first. It was ok for beginning, but I'm already a cellist and I wanted a nice instrument. Yours may be better, I'm not suggesting they're not. But I was hoping for an organized presentation of information. Resources like Mike's Oud Forum online, or Najeeb Shaheen, the Oudman, in New York, are worth mentioning. Also, there are many great Palestinian makers.

    On the web page there isn't much info or pictures of different angles of the ouds you're selling. Also no mention of truss rod. Which is a new innovation ive seen in more modern ouds. Many specs not listed.

    • @OudforGuitarists
      @OudforGuitarists  3 роки тому +1

      I do need to add more info to the page, however truss rods are only found on zeryab ouds, Fadi Matta ouds, and some ouds by the Ghorbanzadeh brothers. It's not a standard feature of ouds yet.

      @@OudforGuitarists okay I got it. I am very happy with the instrument and I am really excited can't wait to play it :D but it seemed that the one who put on the strings on the oud I got didn't really fixed the string tight in a comfortable way to allow easy tuning. I had to rearrange the strings on the peg which is no problem for me since I know this from playing guitar. But for someone who is new to all this this might be troublesome. So I am writing with gratitude for your service and that I received such a beautiful instrument and also as a reminder to the one who is in charge for this to set up the strings on the pegs in a clean way so it's easier and less frustrating for absolute beginner. The rest is fine.

    Hi! Thanks for this! I really want an Oud which sounds like the starting of the Asfar track from Le Trio Joubran! That warm, thick and resonant sound! I don’t know which kind of Oud I should buy. Syrian? Egyptian? Iraqi? I just know they’re Palestinian, and the farthest sounding Ouds to theirs is Turkish ones. Please help me!

    • @OudforGuitarists

      Well, Palestinian ouds and playing style is unique, but the closest might be Syrian style ouds and Lebanese. Start with Zeryab ouds from Syria and go from there.

      I am a cellist, play guitar, and from dating a belly dancer got interested in 'middle eastern' music, then the oud. Then research led me to the divide between Arabic and Turkish, and the need to pick one. I listened to samples of both for awhile, and trusted my ears. I still can't say I can accurately tell the difference, but in general terms, the Arabic sound was my preference.
