Pat Jablonski Buddy...its not that easy.. from dealing with players coaches and everything in between you feel sometimes very depressed it is not easy job you have to be extremely fit you're running sometimes more than the players do themselves and express see if you're laughing big Cup finals you have to make almost every call correct and if you miss one fans players and coaches Will Rain hell on you
If they're depressed then maybe they'll kill themselves and we'll all be better off. I don't know why they keep Geiger, Toledo, etc. around year after year when they're proven to be utterly useless.
Pat Jablonski Don't joke about Suicide bro...when I said depressed on wasn't meaning that dark...and I agree Toledo and Geiger should be replaced with new guys
Easiest job in the world huh? Go buy a uniform, pick up a whistle, learn the Laws of the Game and certify. See how easy it really is, even at lower levels....
watching this as someone from ireland who watches the epl every week and also our own league every week some of the tackles arent as bad as they look, players over react a lot and you have to understand that hard tackles happening. but you then start to produce a card when a player is consistanly making the wrong choices
For anyone yelling at Geiger about the first PK, that was 100% the AR's call. Notice how Geiger delays before pointing to the spot? That's him waiting to here what his AR says about where the foul occurred. The AR has a much better view of where it occurred so it's his decision. Also it was offside anyways sooooo that's awkward.
I would love to know the commentators qualifications to judge a Refs call or no call. Ever officiated a heated high level match? Ever called the perfect match? This commentator is why I seldom come to the MLS page.
In regards to the handball at 6:23, USSoccer had a National Camp where they discussed this exact scenario. Slide tackles such as that are considered 'last ditch efforts', he was late and out of position, and his only option to defend was to take a risk and slide. The risk landed his arm in, yes, an arguably 'natural' position, as he attempted to protect his fall... But it also increased the size of his body and it was a risk he took in putting his arm in one of the places the ball is expected to go. That was a missed handball.
If Van Damme's sending off isn't revoked and Chara/Guzman aren't suspended a game for diving when Romney was suspended for "embellishment" last week I will be absolutely fucking livid. Not to mention half these send off-able offenses ending in suspensions when Jones was suspended last week.
The league is getting even on you. This is what the rest of the league has felt about your team for the last 7 years. Galaxy never had to deal with the bs that everyone else deals with weekly, but now that Bruce and Keane are gone you aren't the darling team of the league anymore. Have fun!
No the league is going to prefer NYCFC and Orlando now. Seattle and Portland are the teams that get the worst of the refs (if you haven't noticed pretty much everyone hates the PNW).
just to let you know, if you were looking from the same angle as the ref at that time, you'd do the same, cuz it's easy to say anything when you see everything on replay and not in real life
Simon is just using hindsight, if were a referee of course he would not gibe all those red cards he comments about. Its after him looking at it fro. different angles and slowmo but if he were in the libe setting he would keep cards in his pocket as well.
Mls seems brutal this year. A lot of controversy with things like crazy challenges unpunished and challenges punished for nothing. The referees need to act more on these things and should be trained more and the players need to stop going in studs up etc.
Hey there. RCTID. Van Damme shouldn't have gotten that 2nd yellow (although he probably would have gotten one later). Terrible call. If there's no contact, it's hard to justify a card in my eyes. That being said, I don't think Guzman is a "diving pussy." He was just avoiding the contact (understandably), then tripped on himself and landed awkwardly on his shoulder. Unfortunate for all involved. I was hoping the suspension would be rescinded but it doesn't look like that's the case. Scoreboard. RCTID.
jelle van damme shouldn't have been sent off it's clear that he made zero contact with that Portland player and that Portland player deserves an Oscar because that's some of the best acting I've seen. he injured himself when he jumped over van dammes shoe I think that the Portland player deserves to be banned for at least a match. This is a perfect example of why soccer in general needs to be use replays if you agree like this comment!!!!!!
Except the ref knew that he made no contact and called the foul anyway, because rules. You don't have to make contact for it to be a foul. The difference between this and LA's flop that earned a PK last week is that LA's flop was not even close to being a foul, the guy just got into the box and took a dive.
The 'studs up' rule is absolute bullshit. It's the kind of rule someone who has never played soccer would write. There is no possible way to play the game with your studs facing the ground the entire game.
Smh. Borg's analysis is so misguided. I will be the first to say that I have questioned many of toledo's decisions in his games. Of course he is going to make the argument that van damme attempted to trip him here which it does look like he did, especially when you watch the play at full speed. However I thought the 2nd yellow was very harsh, and saying he stopped a promising attack is a stretch here. Why the fuck is Borg bringing up impeding the progress of an opponent here??? That does not apply at all in this situation. On top of it he thinks there should have been 5 additional red cards issued every week. This guy literally is allowed to commentate a video because he yells like a lunatic and that's it.
Bullshit Borg strikes again on the Morris call. I put it in .25 speed and I still can't see a deflection off Morris' arm. And anyway, that technically doesn't even matter if it hit his arm. It's whether the handball is *intentional*
1) It looks like the ball grazes off his arm 2) Even though it may not be completely deliberate, the position of his arm makes me question whether it was not at least someone deliberate
Here's how to look at it: If it wasn't for the arm, would the ball get away from him (change direction)? The answer is no, since it had already been stopped by his chest. So, it's not a handball. After that, the other factors do not need to be examined. It was a clean play.
The handball rules needs to be changed to "any time the ball touches ur arm". I'm tired of all the shenanigans and bs around the current rule. It's ridiculous, and 70% of the time the refs, players, fans and organizations just make "interpretive" calls which are entirely subjective and never consistent.
Portland really sold the every situation to the ref. Van damme always gets cards so I don't think anything could help his situation. I seen the video on the refs but they are never consistent, I know they love red cards and penalties.
Happy we have this show. Refs in this league have a lot of controversy to deal with, the fans need to know too.
Fuck the refs. They're incompetent boobs. Easiest job in the world.
Pat Jablonski Buddy...its not that easy.. from dealing with players coaches and everything in between you feel sometimes very depressed it is not easy job you have to be extremely fit you're running sometimes more than the players do themselves and express see if you're laughing big Cup finals you have to make almost every call correct and if you miss one fans players and coaches Will Rain hell on you

you should see some of the tackles we have in the irish league, ankle crunchers
For anyone yelling at Geiger about the first PK, that was 100% the AR's call. Notice how Geiger delays before pointing to the spot? That's him waiting to here what his AR says about where the foul occurred. The AR has a much better view of where it occurred so it's his decision.

If you were a ref, both teams would
finish with 7 players :)
I would love to know the commentators qualifications to judge a Refs call or no call. Ever officiated a heated high level match? Ever called the perfect match? This commentator is why I seldom come to the MLS page.
Just think. If mensah would've put his studs into the turf going at that speed his foot/ankle would've got broken.
i knew colombus's goal was offside darn wouldve been good with a clean sheet
5:04 there is a reason not everyone isn't a ref, THAT IS NOT A RED, at best a yellow
In regards to the handball at 6:23, USSoccer had a National Camp where they discussed this exact scenario. I'm surprised @Simon gave only two unnecessary red cards here! With all these plays/calls, his misjudgment is quite minimal.
Remarkable display of diving by Portland. Guzman must've really wanted Van Damme gone if he's willing to dive so hard that he injures himself.
SIMON BORG!!!!!!!
STONE COLD PENALTY
first non offside call is a great one
Another 10 red cards a week, Simon?
the Altidore one WAS a penalty, but not because of the arm. if you look st his legs you'll see he gets tripped by another defender
but then again...both players were looking at the ball, so I will give a no call since it seems more like Altidore ran into the defenders leg....
I thought these came out on Wednesday!!! But this says 2 days ago so Monday's?
That second yellow on van damme is fucking ridiculous
I know, he should really keep his cool when he's already on a yellow
all those plays that should have been red cards were way worse than Van Damme... It's all bs
Van Damme didn't get his red for the harshness of the foul. He got it for the situation and reason that went with the foul called
I think Ciman and Van Dame are the Pepe of the MLS
Chow altidore is so big but fall with a little tap...
If Van Damme's sending off isn't revoked and Chara/Guzman aren't suspended a game for diving when Romney was suspended for "embellishment" last week I will be absolutely fucking livid. Not to mention half these send off-able offenses ending in suspensions when Jones was suspended last week.

Please, like the league haven't been sucking off Seattle and Portland for years
Tavinho but the league doesn't though...Portland & Seattle aren't really teams who have a global following or fame...that's mostly the Galaxy..
No the league is going to prefer NYCFC and Orlando now. Seattle and Portland are the teams that get the worst of the refs (if you haven't noticed pretty much everyone hates the PNW).
Oliver Linehan pnw?
First two Atlanta goals offside?
MLS hates Philly confirmed.
just to let you know, if you were looking from the same angle as the ref at that time, you'd do the same, cuz it's easy to say anything when you see everything on replay and not in real life
The BORRRRRG is back!
MLS is becoming the NFL... no fun league
Fabinho didnt even get a yellow for that HAHA
If this commentator was a real ref, every game would end up 9v8

Honestly, just seems like the refs made a ton of great calls and only a handful of questionable ones.
Mls seems brutal this year. A lot of controversy with things like crazy challenges unpunished and challenges punished for nothing. The referees need to act more on these things and should be trained more and the players need to stop going in studs up etc.
This guy is not very knowing of the rules
I dont see how nagbe's was deserving of a red? There was nothing in it
His studs were up, and by up I mean straight down, which is up in Borgland. It was late, and a yellow
Why did Andre Blake switch his number from 1 to 18 ? and he left adidas and now wears under armour wtf.
THE LA GALAXY REF WAS AWFUL
Axel Hooeeyberry? hahah
There better be some disciplinary action after this week... ahem Portland... ahem ahem Dallas...
The Van Damme one's need to be revoked. Total bullcrap. Dive's that blatant are what are ruining the sport
Thankless task refereeing.

Read the rules and then come back to comment. No contact was made, the ref knew that, yet it's still a foul. So it was the right call.
Holy shit. the refs are embarrassing.
jelle van damme shouldn't have been sent off it's clear that he made zero contact with that Portland player and that Portland player deserves an Oscar because that's some of the best acting I've seen. he injured himself when he jumped over van dammes shoe I think that the Portland player deserves to be banned for at least a match. Steve Moody if LA hadn't lost Van Damme they would've scored.
If's and but's
The 'studs up' rule is absolute bullshit. It's the kind of rule someone who has never played soccer would write. There is no possible way to play the game with your studs facing the ground the entire game.
But the phrase " studs up " doesnt really make sense. Its impossible to tackle with studs facing down

simon borg should be a mls ref

No it's not, if the arm is away from the rest of the body and the ball makes contact, it's a handball.
1) It looks like the ball grazes off his arm
2) Even though it may not be completely deliberate, the position of his arm makes me question whether it was not at least someone deliberate
Not true. Arm position is only one of the factors to look at in deliberate handling

Portscum are just a group of floppers.
What about the Seattle Flounders? they flop all the time!
Mr. BunnyWabbit Haha how long did it take for you to come up with that one??
cuz garcia didnt flop at all on that nagbe challenge, everyone flops, get over it
2 people don't define a whole team dumbass... enjoy being at the bottom of table
its doesn't matter when your atop of the table. Get back at us when you're at least sixth place.
Portland are the biggest floppers in the league
Alfy Maxwell Cruz nanananananan: sounders👌👌👌👌
Portland really sold the every situation to the ref. Van damme always gets cards so I don't think anything could help his situation. I seen the video on the refs but they are never consistent, I know they love red cards and penalties.
Go timbers
If this commentator was a real ref, every game would end up 9v8
If they play like that, then yes, the games should end with 9v8. And stop liking your own comment!
Woah there top shotta headass lmfao
don't take Simon seriously.
It's all exaggerated "entertainment".
whats wrong with liking your own comment? why would you make a comment if you didnt like it?
Not everything is a red card lol this guys a joke
