Saw Saxon recently in a small venue and they were tremendous. No stage set, no pyro, no fog machine, just them, their gear and the audience and they killed it. A very high energy show, and it was the last night of the tour and the band isn't in their 20's any more. A memorable night.
Exactly Big Plate! Saw them in Toronto,Ontario in October and for a couple of them being in their 60's (Biff being 66), they still have tons of energy and put on an awesome show! UFO headlined,and although they put on a great show (except singer was either losing his voice or his mic wasn't turned up-could hardly hear him), Saxon blew them away! I'd taken my girlfriend to see the Call To Arms tour in 2011, and although she liked it, the most recent concert "converted her" were her words! She's 54 and a petite little thing, so you'd never know she likes the growly, death metal, but she REALLY enjoys the newer Saxon thrashier stuff of the last 15-20 years. I think the fact they stayed away from the drugs really does wonders for their longevity!
And now, after seeing them in Toronto in October, they've put out a new album and are already set to tour again! Have my tickets for the Saxon/Priest show in March in London, Ontario! Woohoo!
The way I see it, they are the "special guest", not an "opener". They actually played 16 songs when they played with UFO. They actually played 2 more songs than UFO!

With all the sub genres for metal nowadays and so incredibly much stuff to choose from, it's good to have bands such as Saxon stick true to the heavy metal sauce that we've all come to love since the 70's/80's. I therefore really appreciate this track :)

Still one hell of a band possibly getting better with age heavier by far today than they were in the 80s this current line up is tighter than ever and the best they've ever had and also their albums are stronger to since 2001 they've been constantly on the up in my opinion and live second to none.
