- For White Yardie's First Time Eating Haitian Food we took him to Boukan. A Haitian Street Food restaurant in East Toronto. Besides Haitian Street Food they also specialize in Haitian spirits. @WhiteYardie is used to eating Jamaican Food which is similar in many regards to Haitian Food but has it's nuances.
Boukan was also featured as one of the restaurants for the @ByBlacksdotcom restaurant week. @ByBlacksdotcom brings awareness to black owned restaurants not often showcased in traditional media.

Put some respect on white yardie for showing love 🇯🇲🇭🇹🤜🏾🤛🏾
I'm Jamaican 🇯🇲 and I love Haitian food
🇭🇹
Both foods are phenomenal 😋
I’m Haitian and I love jamaican food too
Haitian is not 'broken French', it's its own language. No on says French is broken Latin.
French is literally Dutch people (Franks) talking broken latin
Haïtian and Jamaican always do great things together.
💯 Two beautiful cultures!
Yep gun trade too 😂😂
First time I had Haitian food I went back almost 3 days in a straight😂😂😂😂😂. It was so good. It was spicy but I loved it😊
I felt the same way the first time I tried it too...it was delicious
🇭🇹🇭🇹🇯🇲🇯🇲🙏🎊🎈🎆 God bless both countries yesss 1000,000!!
Haitian Creole is a language, not a dialect of French. Thank you for trying our food 🇭🇹
TX for the clarification on the language 🙂 Haitian food has become one of my fav foods.
The govt of Haiti has declared Kreyol as being the official language of the country. However the base of Kreyol is French, so it's kind of hard to not look at it as being a dialect because there's so much traditional French words in it. But yeah, Kréyol is the Official Language of Haiti
@@cliftonwalker8006 every language are similar and creole also has Taino, African dialects and some Spanish so it’s a whole different language
@@Lafilleestmoi please it’s not broken French. It’s a language created by our ancestors it’s a mixture of everything that Haitians are mix with. It’s the language of our freedom.
@@cliftonwalker8006 no it’s not a dialect of French. Same way you wouldn’t call Portuguese language Spanish. Creoles are an advance form of a pidgin language. Pidgin languages are short form phrase and a mixture of 2 languages. The main purpose is usually used for business and trading. Then it evolves into creole that creates longer more complex thoughts and ideas. A language consist of syntax, semantics, pragmatic etc basically concrete grammar rules. Also, consisting a certain percentage of words that are unique to that language. It’s a language. They just haven’t changed the name to not have creole in it.
Haitian food is very good, a lot of people sleep on it.
They need to wake up go get some Haitian food so they could have dreams about how good 👍it really is.
Haitian food is underrated! You have a new subby!
Thank you for your support!
Haitian Creole is definitely not just a dialect. By definition a dialect is just spoken but a language is also written in addition to being spoken. Lastly Haitian Creole contains all 5 components or rules found in a language (syntax, morphology, phonology, semantics and pragmatic)
Lemme tell you all!!! Haitian food is excellent when done by a good cook or chef! Just like I don’t eat from every restaurant that’s Jamaican, some restaurants are better than others. BUT…generally it’s so good! African & french fusion at their best, plus their own spin otherwise.
Thanks for including are Haitian cultural food it’s the best food 🙌🏿😋
Our pleasure!
I am Haitian and love Jamaican food

I love this restaurant it was so good when i visited Canada.
Looks yumptious 😊
You definitely gotta go to rhum corner! Another Haitian restaurant in Toronto
Need a Haitian restaurant here - this looks goood!!!
Pikliz is put on the griot, not the plantains. That's an individual choice but I would love to visit this restaurant.
You can put it on anything you want
I feel pikliz is one of the most versatile condiments in the world. Yes it can go on almost anything!
Creole is its own language
Island foods are infused and influence by differently places. Same ingredients different flavors.
Nope Haitian food is prepared differently
Very true!
Not really! We're all unique...
@@jennalud4748 umm reading comprehension. "same ingredients different flavors" speaks to the uniqueness. Caribbean people have many foods that are similar and only makes sense due to our ancestors coming from the same places. where many of the nuances lay, is the type colonization we had. some had french, some had spanish, some had english. the adaptation of those colonizers dishes and the indigenous population, oh and don't forget the east indian indentured influence can be seen across the caribbean. thats why we can go to each island is see similarities
@@m-jay356 I agree! We do have our uniqueness!
I think the food that represents Haiti the best is grillot pork, 😋😋😋😋
The best way to cook pork for sure!
Hello I'm Judith in DE, we represent Haiti by opening
Pearl of the Antilles Bear, DE...

$15 is Hella cheap comparing to the $25 I be paying in the state for a medium plate that actually a small size😭😭
Carribean = Plantane Power !

En santé? Naah! We just say: Santé
It’s not cole slaw - it’s PICKLIZ - and restaurant is called BOUKANE - which means grilled
🇭🇹🇭🇹🇯🇲🇯🇲❤️
We supposed to say Santé not en santé
The saying is actually "à votre santé" .
Thx for clarifying 🙏🏽
A votre santé ! Bonne dégustation !🍸🍷
Merci à toi aussi 🍸!
Fitayyyyyy
🇭🇹💞🇯🇲
🇭🇹🇭🇹🇭🇹🇭🇹
OMG THE ADDRESS PLEASE
If you ever round toronto check it out at 774 Danforth!
Yall need to stop saying french when it comes to haitian food! Bread is the only thing we make the same as a french men. When it comes to food! Flavor, Looks! ITS NOTHING FRENCH. We group up with tainos indians, they cook like haitians, they are haitians so idk. Now africa!! We eat allot of the same stuff, sweets is one of the main thing. But we DO NOT COOK the same! and im talking about west africans. where 95 percent of haitian are from. THEY DONT COOK LIKE US, we have the same sweets though
Did White Yardie like it tho?!!!
Only Jamaican food🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲
Haytians food ranked#57 best food in the world..... best food in the Caribbean.cuba 2nd place jamaica then Trinidad
Yup there needs to be more haitian restaurants in canada
Really number 57! The ranking is not correct.
@@FookFastFood They are mostly in Montreal.
@@Dantor1990 I agree they should replace the u.s.a ranked #8 for Hayti .
@@ggaston8096 when a dish tastes good, will definitively say that. It is not because I am Haytian, I am saying that our cuisine is excellent.
They're putting too much pikliz on the plantain. Must have burned, lol
Their version of pikliz wasn't overly spicy...but I do like mine with lots of scotch bonnet lol
NOPE
That's most Haitian American food
Not real Haitian cuisine.
I guarantee you that is not Haitian except for the plantains yes everything else it looks American or something else
it's 1000 Haitian
Yes and no that's Haitian food American style
Im Haitian thats haitian food 🇭🇹. Where are you from?
The food doesn’t look like Haitian food thuips
Stop criticizing about the pepper what you mean what you mean . Who cares you grew up in Jamaica each culture has their own food . You’re trying to denigrate our food . Jamaicans always have something to say abt Haitian . Tchipps
What the HELL are you talking about??
French don't say en Sante. That's considered rude. Canadians and Haitians are weird
French people are weird.
Please go eat food from St.Kitts instead. Stop engaging with one another it's not worth it.😏
