  • One man's voice has spanned generations of hockey and followed fans from young to old. Bob Cole's famous rumbling baritone will forever be linked to the greatest moments in sports history and the legacy he leaves behind will be eternally remembered. Michael Farber has more.

Bob was the voice of hockey for an entire country over multiple generations. He was the voice I always heard as a young boy doing hockey on HNIC. Nobody else brought it to your ears the same way Mr. Cole did. Thank you for being THE voice of all my heroes passes and goals, Sir. You will never be matched, and you'll always be the best.

This was beautifully done. If Hockey Night In Canada does not honor his legacy on Saturday properly, I will be very upset. They didn't do much tonight, but I am so happy TSN was able to put this video package together so quickly at 3PM PT on Sportscentre.

Bob was so much more than just a great voice. He was the kinda person that everyone around the league loved. Everyone who knows hockey loved. Every hockey family in Canada knows bobs voice off by heart, and love him. Not a single person disliked Bob Cole. And that’s how you know Bob is more than just an incredible commentator.
    Rest easy Bob.

The reason why I watched Hockey Night in Canada along with Don Cherry. I'm so lucky that we get the channel here in Michigan. The best play by play hockey announcer in Canada to ever do it.

Bob Cole could make me jump out of my chair and almost hit the ceiling especially in playoff overtime games. I'm an Oiler fan and saw some of the cup games but my personal favorite was the 1997 where the Oilers were down 0-3 in a game then came back quickly to tie it then win it in overtime. He's my favorite sports broadcaster of all time. Thanks for keeping comments open.
