Knew an old man who had been in the beauty supply business with Bernstein's father and knew Lenny as a precocious ( and kind of strange ) kid. I saw at Ravinia not long before he died. 72 is very young. Leon Fleischer said Lenny needed to be loved, not just respected.
Did you know he wore odour eaters during a performance and suffered with neurofibromatosis. He had never visited an abattoir nor practised a piece under water like Trifonov.
