I watch those trains every day we work in the brown building at Forbins in Barre! Rough set of tracks, but that rock rolls by morning and night on them. The tracks from Barre up to the quarry close once snowfalls, but the engines live in that lot all winter and still roll every day
Great show Harrison! And talk about serendipity, a day before you posted this I recieved my latest action-packed issue of "Railpace" and look who made the cover! AND with a four-page equally enjoyable article on the Granite Railroad! Well done! I'll tell you, you're doing so well with "Railpace" it wouldn't surprise me if you're running the mag ten years from now! 🤩 Think I'm joking? Let's wait and see...

Just so you know, the crossing you show as Barre Montpelier road in Barre is the town of Berlin. Also Berlin is where Montpelier Jct. is actually located. I grew up in Berlin.
Narrator: "8.9% grade, there is nothing like it anywhere in North America" Cass Scenic: "Hold my coffee"* *:(close to 12%) Okay, not on a regular, freight-carrying Class 3 road. The Madison incline in Indiana at 5.89% was considered the steepest grade on a line-haul railroad in the USA but although the Madison RR still operates, it hasn't gone down the incline in ages now. Guess Washington County has the title now.
5-mins in and I am already disappointed because the entire consist of gondola's & hopper cars are never shown and I can't tell how many cars the 2 Geep's are hauling. Missing out on the entire train being pushed up the switchback was a big disappointment too. I stopped watching after that. 👎👎
@@jimfuller113 I do try to show the entire train at least once… however, when doing a slow and short chase line this, I can’t show the entire train and still beat it to the next spot. When I’m chasing on the mainline, however, I try to show the entire train at least once. On the M&B all you’re missing is gondolas.
This earned you a subscriber, I love small operations like this!!!
@@AppalachianRailfan99 They’re my absolute favorite to film! Thanks!
Me as well!
I watch those engines every day we work in the brown building at Forbins!
Worked that line before. Hated it. Sketchy track, sketchy grade, and people never stopped at the crossings. Lol
I’d love to learn more about these operations up in Vermont! Great video!

Too bad the rivet counters spoil it with silly comments

Minute mark 12:00 is where they stored the units when the rains and high water came earlier this summer I believe.
Pan Am would have needed a locomotive per empty car to do this 31:37 😂😅😂
